Hexen Ward: Character Advancement

Players will have opportunities to earn significant character rewards by completing various character objectives. Some of these rewards will include straight XP awards. Additionally, characters earn 1 XP each time the GM declares a story break.

Earned XP can be spent when earned or banked to spend later.



Current Character Objectives



Tier 0

Sometimes the game experience doesn't quite match with chargen expectations. Tier 0 adjustments exist specifically to deal with those sorts of tweaks and changes without leveling an XP tax for the privilege. Tier 0 adjustments are only available during a character's first couple breaks in the game.

Rather than try to list these out as per the regular tiers, these will be handled case by case, preferably via DM if players are comfortable with that.

Tier 1

  • Add a d6 Resource Die to your Focus 1 Experience Max 5 resource dice total

  • Step up a d6 Resource Die on your Focus to d8 2 Experience
  • Step up a d6 Trick to d8 2 Experience

Tier 3

  • Step up one Attribute and step back another: 3 Experience No Attribute may be stepped up above d12 or stepped down below d4
  • Step up a d8 Trick to d10 3 Experience
  • Add a d4 Mastery: 3 Experience You may only have one (1) d4 Mastery at a time.

  • Step up a d4 Stress Form to d8 4 Experience
  • Step up a d6 Maneuver to d8 5 Experience
