My childhood friend was a crested dragonewt ( since they are the ones sometimes mangled to be able to talk to humans) And it just showed up near where we lived as a child ,and would ask us how we felt that our father had died, and it would say things like - ''''All fathers are the great worm, Ouroboros, all else is illusion, Sadness is the mind biting its own tail''''. I guess it would appear , mystify small human test subject with inscrutable draconic shit and disappear before angry local parents tore it to bits. At some point a Lankhor Mhy sage interested in the dragonnewts found out and visited - and took advantage of its obsession in order to study it - via me as a proxy. This led to me spending time and being talked to by a Sage about what to say and ask the dragonnewt - as it wouldn't respond to questions unless they were from me - and the responses were always couched as draconic mysteries. For young fatherless me having a respected figure and a mysterious creature hang around me was probably both comforting and made me feel important. So i naturally fixated on the behaviour and interests of the Sage. Dabbling there leads to mandatory actual temple classes (this covers the differences between professional sorcery and the temple trained stuff). |
