This's derived from the Wound and Vitality System from Unearthed Arcana, and featured in the Star Wars Roleplaying Game. I've renamed Wounds as Kernel (Since the core component of a Program is usually its Kernel), and Vitality as Shell(Since the Shell is the outer layer of a Program). Otherwise it's the same.

Note that, in this case, Toughness becomes obsolete, and should not be a selectable Feat. If a Class, Race or Heritage offers Toughness, it should be replaced with Strenghened Shell.
