Background: Dharin worked for a merchant looking after stock and warehousing for goods as they knew how to read and write they did much of the legal paperwork. The city sat on the costs of the western side of the southern continent. Was filled with fervour for a war against those 'raiding savages from the eastern deserts!' (Delzahn) and signed up to fight at the age of 17. The Satraps armies were mostly slaves and poor citizenry with an extremely wealthy cavalry elite of nobles. They sent a large, poorly trained, poorly supplied and poorly equipped force into the deserts to fight the people there and immediately run into issues of supply, planning, organisation, etc. relying solely on numbers to win the day.

After a few terrible defeats the initial vast army is whittled down and the nobles, sensing impending doom flee back to the satrapy, abandoning the infantry. Now starving, supplies almost run out, under the desert sun and hounded by desert peoples Dharin, a junior officer, stands up and takes control of the confused, dismantling, infighting remnants of the army. Organises them, sorts out how to make sure the limited supplies last and approaches the desert peoples.

They agree a treaty. In return for food, water and guidance out of the desert they will return to their satrapy and overthrow the Satrap.

Riding the wave of anger among the troops they make it all the way back to the capital and run into harsh truths. While the Satrap and their officers may be utterly hopeless at prosecuting a war and wasteful of resources they are masters at intrigue, bribery, blackmail and assassination. They bend their considerable talents against the rebelling army and split it along the seams. Bleeding soldiers to desertion, and, at a critical moment during the siege having it fight against itself in betrayal.

Despite all this the Dharin and a core of loyalists fight their way into the Satrap's Palace and, surrounded, isolated and hopeless fight to their last breath. Until Dharin's second breath.

Dharin lays waste to the palace but, feeling the betrayal sting, loses any desire to continue their fight. Clearly these people prefer this way of life. So he leaves, confused and a bit lost and looking for a new purpose to drive them they wander eastwards.

The remaining nobles however recognised the threat as an Anathema and call a Wyld Hunt. Hunted them down Dharin flees again and again until running out of places to run. They decide to run into the deserts and slip away from the hesitant Wyld Hunt only to be picked up by the Delzahn. Dharin convinces them not to fight him and he spends several months traveling with different groups of Delzahn, living with them, helping them as best he can but all the while moving further away from the western coast line.

Making friends along the way he could not stay lost in the deserts. Some imperative drove him to seek out civilization again and he headed back out of the deserts, tempered by the sun and driven to make a difference where he runs into...
