Background: Jake doesn't talk about his time in Afghanistan: only that he was in the Marines, he lost friends, and was honourably discharged.

In reality he lost more than just friends. He lost everyone, and the guilt still haunts him.

When he got home he drifted for a bit, before finding a job working security for Millgros Coldiron. Mostly it's babysitting executives and standing outside events looking menacing, but it beats being a mall cop.

Relationships: Neutral (+0): Damien Khovansky - head of security for Millgros Coldiron, and Jake's boss. Doesn't ask awkward questions. Meaningful (+1): Amelie Jann - another former Marine who got out before Jake did - and before everything went tits up. She also works for Millgross Coldiron and is the one who introduced him to the job. They still go drinking together sometimes. Vital (+2): Bobby Cantos - Jake's best friend, and sometimes more. They've known each other since high school, and Bobby's the only person who knows Jake's gay. Don't ask, don't tell.
