  • Strength: 14
  • Dexterity: 15
  • Constitution: 15
  • Intelligence: 15
  • Wisdom: 16
  • Charisma: 13

Appearance

White hair, falling over the left side of his face, a perpetual smirk across his lips and a fair bit of stubble on his face. Joseph is handsome if a bit homely at times. Often times he looks like he's destitute or even a simple mugger. However behind his kind or unusual visage is a look of sadness and a bit of reservation. As though he were hiding something.

Personality

A lover of wine and partying are his main traits. Joseph is a heavy drinker (yet for some reason never suffers from side effects) and enjoys various alcohols as though he were collectors objects. In fact his knowledge on a good drink seems exactly disproportional to his knowledge on basic fighter knowledge. While his knowledge of swords ranges from "That small, daggery one" to "that REAL big one. Like ya know. REAL BIG." his knowledge of fine wines and alcohols seem to be far vaster. Ranging from several different brands, vintages and particular fruits/vegetables they're made from. In accordance with this Joseph is a pretty laid back person who only seems to fight when faced with a difficult situation.

Abilities

Joseph is unusual. For one thing he can conjure fire from nowhere despite claiming to not be a mage. He can attack much quicker than most humans and his reflexes don't seem bound by normal principles. Nobody is quite sure how or why he can do this though... this does however make him a dangerous and unpredictable foe.

Background

One thing that must be known is that Joseph isn't a fighter at all. He's a swordsage.

Joseph was born in a monistary and was originally trained as a monk. The monks were VERY uptight about their work. Many of them had vows of abstinence, purity and such. Joseph was a hard coherent of this and he strived to be the best monk he could... but two things intervened. Corruption... and love. How did those two mesh together like that? Well that's a difficult story actually. You see it all started when the master of Joseph's monistary went dabbling into Magic. Not black arts mind you but he wanted to combine magic and the mystical form of monk's training into something... MORE. Truly SPECIAL. And he found something like it too! He found an ancient scroll in the ruins of an old dragon temple that contained a list of things in an archaic language. The elder monk, however, was unable to comprehend it so he sent out for a translator. The translator was a young woman who came from a large city far away. When she and Joseph met the two developed a bond in between her studying of the language and the two slowly grew a loving relationship.

Through study. The translator found out about the nine paths and managed to discover enough about each path to uncover the proper training needed to master (or become proficient) in each. In joy she showed Joseph who found it to be rather remarkable. Of course, as all things go, tragedy struck when the head monk, upon hearing of their relationship, told Joseph that he must fend off such vulgar thoughts. Ironically when you'd think Joseph was becoming the next Anakin, it was the head monk who was growing more and more paranoid about their relationship. He knew the scroll had knowledge for power beyond that of what the traditional teachings of martial arts had. He was afraid that the translator might be sharing this knowledge with Joseph who could wind up using that power against him. So, in the middle of the night, he cut the girl's throat while she was asleep. He was, quite sadly, unaware that Joseph was watching the entire time.

Joseph was at first afraid but soon rage overcame him and in secret he tore the translation she made in two. Unaware he only got about four of the nine she wrote. Desert Wind, Diamond Mind, Iron Heart and Setting Sun. When the head monk saw that part of the translation had been taken he followed Joseph and found the boy fleeing into the night on horseback. Since then Joseph has abandoned any idea of reservation or "holding back" and drinks and eats meat to his heart's content. He still misses the girl on a subconscious level and hopes to get back at his old master (Who'll probably still come after him for the four that he stole) but till then he'll keep going on... though he finds his latest companion to be a pain.

Gaoliene

Gaoliene was hatched in a group of about ten siblings. Most of which were female. Gaoliene had the misfortune of being born as the runt of the litter. As in she looked more human than lizard, which her appearance shows. Quite simply she wasn't as strong as many of the others and when feeding time came she was constantly left to pick up scraps. Due to this she grew into a colder and angrier creature than most other Slythin. She would constantly train with her blade to become the best warrior possible. Which is why she's a Fighter/Barbarian. Her rage ability makes up for her lack of strength compared to the rest of her kin and this extra strength has allowed her to survive in their cruel and uncaring world. However she is still very much the "runt of the litter" and is mocked by her siblings constantly because of it. Deep down she is very aware that others don't see much in her and she hopes to overcompensate for this by becoming the best fighter she can.

It's unknown why the two are traveling together. Though the fact Gaoliene constantly refers to him as her "husband" or "mate" suggests there's a strange connection between them...
