Age: Youth (19)
Pronouns: She / Her
Hometown: Wingendorf
People: Wildleute

Appearance: Kat's heritage is most evident in her red fox-ears, sharp features and amber eyes. as well as the tendency of her red hair to grow into sideburns. She's tall and a bit on the gawky side, and is usually wearing an old peaked airman's hat.

I was taught to fly by... an old veteran, after I begged.
I left my home because I was... too restless.
I fly so I can… find what was missing in my life.

.What kind of farm did you grow up on? What did you grow or raise?

Katrina grew up with two brothers and three sisters in a small village in the Schuckert Highlands, where they raised sheep and goats on marginal land. There's a mix of people with and without apparent signs of Wildleute heritage in the wider community, but people who aren't accepting of that are not, in the long run, welcome to stay.

Who is your hero? How do you emulate them?

Katrina's “Uncle Franz” (Franz Muller) is a veteran of the Great War, and he's the second cousin of Kat's mother. He flew for the UWF before its fall, and as part of a flying circus after that. When he finally came back to Wingendorf after the war, Franz leveled a stretch of land for a crude airstrip serving traveling traders, couriers and barnstormers, but he kept and lovingly maintained the old Ritter Model Cj that he'd flown. Kat spent all the time she could soaking up Franz's stories and learning to maintain planes, and eventually she coaxed him into teaching her to fly. Seeing the same desire to travel and fight the good fight that he'd once had himself, the old man gifted the Spatz to her.

The dashboard of Kat's plane has a picture attached to it that has been there since Franz was flying it in combat. It's of a young woman that Franz met and got a photo of for all the usual reasons. When he tried to find her a few months after getting the picture, the village had been wiped off the map. He kept the picture in the cockpit to remember her, but eventually it came to stand less for the actual woman and more toward the ideal of defending ordinary people threatened by the war, and he never took it out of the plane. Kat knows the story behind it and keeps it in the same spirit.

Franz never found out for certain what happened to the subject of the picture -- for all he knew, she survives to this day, somewhere.

What do you enjoy most about flying? Do you enjoy flying in combat?

Kat loves the feeling of freedom that comes with being in the air, and she likes fancy aerobatics a fair bit more than is good for her. She's not as disciplined in combat as many would probably like her to be, and has to admit that she gets a rush from combat flying, although all things considered she prefers flying when she's not being shot at.

What has to change before you would return home?

Kat has a possibly inflated opinion of Franz's deeds while flying. She'd have to be satisfied that she'd acquired a set of tales the equal of his, and that she'd made a difference for people outside of her home.
