Leon is a former refugee from Shiganshina, the village that was hit by the Titans after 100 years of peace. He escaped the village, but the family he had started was not so lucky. His wife Maria and his little son Jonas were killed when the Titans invaded. He escaped with the help of his brother-in-law Michael. The year after the attack, most of the residents of Shiganshina were sent to retake Wall Maria with disastrous results.
