The Breaking Mask
"Doctor" Lilith Ivanov - she's not actually a doctor, she's 14, but she insists on being called it anyway - was raised by a deviant scientist in a lab in Horizon. She has a keen interest in her fallen caretaker's career, enjoys overacted movie villainy, and strives to emulate it...because it's easier to repress psychological fault lines than it is to deal with them.

Some might consider her, not to put too fine a point on it, dangerously insane...but Lilith does have her good points, most notably an insatiable curiosity about the world and how it works. When on the hunt for information, she can be terrifying.

We did mention the "dangerously insane" part, right? Yeah. Lilith is cuckoo for rather more than cocoa puffs. Obsessions, insecurities, resentments she refuses to admit she holds, repressed emotions, it's like her entire mind is a pot boiler filled with blasting gelignite.

There's a small lab in Horizon occupied by two steam robots and one fourteen-year-old mad scientist. It's covered in disused experiments, discarded or forgotten tools, unfinished meals left to grow fur and occasionally run around, and similar devices of deviant science.
In it, there dwells a 14-year-old girl with a perpetually smoke-blackened face, a thick set of metal goggles, and hair that might have been blonde once, but which is now mostly grime and smoke.
