Chocolat the Desirable, Guard Queen

Goal: Reclaim your memory. Somewhere out there is something or someone who will tell you who you really are. The remains of the caravan where you were found might be a good place to start.

Dislikes: Baths. The warm waters and soft scrubbing only pull on her scars and remind her of the injuries she has taken.

Dislikes: The Queen. She feels like a fake and an incompetent, and struggles to do her best despite her total lack of memory.

Likes: Epic poetry. She feels a strong connection to these people of epic struggles and strange fates.

Likes: Stars. Staring at them, she feels freed from her responsibilities.

Story and Description

Chocolat the Desirable, Amnesiac Pretender Queen

The first thing Chocolat remembers, before even having a name, is the bloody face of a scarred, angry man staring down at her and demanding, "Are you the lost princess?".

The second thing she remembers is the spike of pain in her skull as she turns her head and sees the circle of other dirty, worn, and hopeful looking people surrounding her. Then the angry man is shouting at her again, "Well, answer! Are you the daughter of Danish the Lost?" with his hand on his sword.

Chocolat looked up at him, and at the many hopeful and threatening faces around her and answered "... Yes?"

Two weeks later, Chocolat stands on the balcony of the palace, waving at the cheering crowd trying to figure out how she got here, the broken body of the hated tyrant laid out on the cobblestones below.

OOC Explanation

I left it vague, but the idea was that a harsh, not terribly competent ruler takes over kingdom and, to maintain support and appear legitimate, sends out search parties for brother of old king who disappeared a decade ago while the tyrant "rules in his stead".

Fast forward to a few years later. The tyrant is hated and one of the search parties finds a slaughtered caravan, with lots of dead monsters and one surviving woman with terrible head wounds. As they search the caravan, they find lots of evidence the people in it were wealthy, including melted jewelry that from the right angle looks a lot like the emblems of the kingdom.

Then the first scene happens.

News spreads ahead of her arrival in the kingdom, and by the time Chocolat is back the tyrant feels he must legitimize her and use her to keep his own power. But she has also become a symbol for those who want a revolution. The tyrant becomes more and more suspicious and threatening until finally he accuses her of trying to overthrow him and orders her seized in public. Then the second scene happens when he badly misjudged the loyalty of his guards on that day, and no one intervenes as Chocolat tips him over the edge of the balcony.
