Covers

1. Dwayne Everett, Head-of-Security at the Lantern Country Casino. Rating: 7

  • Dwayne is the silent, serious type. He spends more time than he should in the casino, monitoring camera feeds, shadowing hotel guests just to see what they are up to. Always dressed in clean gray suits, keeps his hair neat and stays shaved. Dwayne has dark eyes and he is very punctual. The kind of perfectionist who stays on top of his game to hide his flaws. He doesn't have much of a life, and he doesn't socialize very much. Two-Crows, the Casino owner, is pretty much his only friend. Some say he used to be a cop but got fired for some reason. Nobody really cares enough to ask Dwayne though, just like Mr. Moon wants it.

Dwayne is the work-cover, where he does all his Demon business. This is the cover Mr. Moon fell in.

2. Darren Forrest, Middling office manager. Rating: 7

  • Fresh out of college, Darren's landed his first proper job as an office manager on the business side of Galvanic Dynamics, a battery manufacturer. It is not a very exciting job, but it gets the bills in on time. There are other things Darren enjoys in life, like his sweet girlfriend and weekends playing amateur soccer. Who is he to complain?

Darren is a patchwork cover that Mr. Moon has put together in order to get some relaxation. It's not a fancy lifestyle, but its not quite as boxed up and dry as Dwayne. Darren is the breath of fresh air Mr. Moon needs to keep being Dwayne.

Aspirations

  • Seek the counsel of an Exile (short term.)
  • Help a mortal rejoin a clique that he or she has been ostracized from (short term.)
  • Befriend an angel (long-term.)

Demonic Form

Mr. Moon's demonic form is a naked adonis body with no head. Four muscular arms with clawed hands form a crest at the top of his torso, and the entire body is slick with a thick, transparent gel. Where the head should be there is a lipless mouth full with tiny little teeth. He senses his surroundings with an outlined eye of circuitry inside his skin that can shift around the body, and even out onto the limbs if need be. Electricity ripples out from the circuitry eye, and Mr. Moon possesses the power to rip himself through corporeal objects like walls or cars.

Modifications

  • Claws and Fangs: + 2L, can be used when grappling (299)
  • Inhuman Strength: +2 Strength (301)
  • Slippery Body: +3 to Defense on Grapples, +3 to overpower enemy when using Escape grapple move (302)

Technologies

  • Blind sense – sees everything within 20 feet, Wits + Investigation + Primum vs. Dexterity + Stealth to find someone hiding (305)
  • Electric Jolt – Disrupt devices for 10 minutes, spend Aether to get 2/0 armor and 6B touch attacks (306)

Propulsions

  • Phasing – spend 1 aether to phase through solid objects at half speed. Can phase to impart -2 penalty on attacks (311)

Processes

  • Extra Mechanical Limbs - +3 to Strength when grappling, if two arms are unarmed, +3 to Defense (315)

Background

Mr. Moon had been an Angel for a long time when he fell. He would be sent out by the God-Machine to either protect key operatives (often psychopomps) and important infrastructure facilities. In time Mr. Moon grew paranoid, and overanalyzing potential threats became his standard MO. He would get obsessive and follow strict protocols. On his last mission for the God-Machine Mr. Moon had been ordered to protect a piece of surveillance infrastructure. It was a stretch of telephone lines outside of a hospital, which was used to monitor the children that were born there. When Mr. Moon finally lost it when he accused the active psychopomp on location, Uliel, of endangering the project. Words escalated into actions, and before the night was over Uliel lay dead at Moon's feet, he had fallen and was on the run from the God-Machine.

Mr. Moon regretted falling almost immediately. He feels that while he failed in his holy work for his demiurge, he did so in good faith. Now he's been burned and shunned and must fend for himself.

Five Questions

• Who did you share part of yourself with when you first Fell? Mr. Moon heard rumors of a Native American Mastigos who was summoning demons to protect his stronghold, a casino hotel out in the boonies. Mr. Moon arrived at the Lantern Country Casino and introduced himself to Laughing Stallion as an ex-bodyguard looking for a new gig. The partners both know about each other's supernatural abilities, but they don't discuss them particularly often.

• Who doesn’t know, but suspects you’re not human? A striker on Darren's soccer team saw one of Mr. Moon's temporary glitches out on the pitch a few weeks ago. He was helping Darren get back up after a nasty foul when he saw a miniscule antenna retract into Darren's ear. The team mate hesitates because it might have been some cutting edge wireless headphone or something, but if that was the case it is a damned impressive piece of tech.

• Who could give you up to the angels right now, if they really wanted to? Shortly after entering the employ of Laughing Stallion, Mr. Moon slipped. He had taken a card hustler out back and was beating him up when he let out his frustrations and vented to him about not being able to rejoin the God-Machine. After the beating Mr. Moon was so shook up he let the card cheat go. Mr. Moon hasn't seen him since, but he wouldn't be surprised if the man ended up a Stigmatic.

• Who would you trust the truest part of yourself with if you absolutely had to? Probably an Angel, as a hail-mary to rejoin the God-Machine.

• Who thinks they have something on you, when all they really have is smoke and mirrors? The Native American Gambling Commission has been breathing down Dwayne's neck for the past month or two, claiming that the Lantern Country Casino is organizing for United States citizens to cross the border and win gambling money tax free. This is true, but Mr. Moon has been using Shift Consequence to pin the blame on the employees of other Casinos along the Canada/USA border.
