The old joke running around MI5 was that the Director-General saw NCIS and decided they needed their own Abbie, only male, because of traditional public-school snobbishness. Therefore, they got Archie, D Branch hacker, lab techie, and analyst, an energetic pot of pep with a thirst for knowledge. Until Archie wasn't there any more. Archie blames idiot cutbacks courtesy of Tories madly obsessed with privatization (and probably bribed to boot).
Riposte. If an attacker rolls an unmodified 1 on a Weapons roll and misses when attacking you, you may take advantage of his weakness by immediately striking back at him. Without rolling an attack test, spend Weapons pool points. The attacker loses 1 point of Health for every point you spend, up to the maximum normal damage possible for your weapon.

Thriller Rules. Having a Weapons rating of 8+ also allows the Extra Attacks (p. 74), Martial Arts (p. 75), and Special Weapons Training (p. 76) options from the Thriller Combat rules, if your campaign uses them

But in truth, he was getting close to something he shouldn't have, and an excuse was made to drop him. Or perhaps Archie was simply getting bored, and his supervisors wanted to head things off before a terror attack went off because Archie didn't do his due diligence on an analysis. Maybe it was a forth thing. Or maybe it was budget cutbacks that never seem to involve the salaries of the bureaucrats and politicians involved after all.

Who knows? Archie got contacted by [insert here] about the delicious signs of a mysterious conspiracy, and asked if he would help look into it. Score!
Gavin MacLeish is a former MI6 scalphunter. Originally a Royal Marine with the Comacchio Group fleet protection and anti-terrorism unit, he transferred into the Special Boat Service in time to serve in Afghanistan. MI6 spotted his talent for infiltration and mayhem, and recruited him for clandestine counter-terrorism and targeted killing operations. After one too many dubious missions, he resigned and now lives in Scotland as a notable military modeller. However, he still keeps contact with many former friends and allies from his old life.
