- The great grandson of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, born in 1890 in the Black Country to an Industrialist father who is now in the House of Lords as a Life Peer. They don't see eye to eye, naturally. Loved his Grandfather Henry Marc Brunel who named the Chauncy Maples after him
- A co founder of the Vorticism movement, friend of Ezra Pound and occasional flirter with the Bloomsbury set, he joined the Royal Navy reserve, ending up painting Royal Navy ships with their Dazzle camouflage under the eye of Norman Wilkinson. After the war he became disillusioned with the movement and though continuing to paint, applied his intellect to a variety of things...Namely strange, unsolved, criminal mysteries.
- Based in London, but having spent a few years in the early 1920's in French Tunisia, he is currently in London again, having been commissioned to paint travel posters for LMS.
- So he's a Sleuth basically, vaguely a la Sherlock Holmes. A solver of obscure crimes, riddles, myths and oddities. Mostly in the UK but also on the continent and North Africa, home to several failed romances.
- Dapper, wealthy and a socialite.
- He knows Sylvia Aston through the art scene? Firm friends? He's 38.
- i'm thinking that he'd have contacts in the Met and underworld of London, the Royal Navy and the art scene. Channelling Holmes a little here, but what the heck, he's awesome inspiration. Armed with nothing more than an umbrella, his wit, genius and impeccable line in suits, he's ready for anything...
- He gets sea sick, has an aversion to cats and is addicted to nothing but his newly acquired motorbike.
