=Necromunda in Space=
Necromunda in Space is an ongoing fan rules project based on the Necromunda rules set.  The goal is to expand the game of [http://www.specialist-games.com/necromunda: Necromunda]in to the larger 40K universe.  However, the general premise is the same: you are the leader of a rag tag band of personalities who advance and become more powerful over time. Only this time, instead of leading a gang in the Underhive, you are the captain of a ship sailing on the edge of human space. Whether you are running trade from one planet to the next, hunting bounties, dabbling in a bit of piracy, or bringing the light of the Emperor to the galaxy's furthest reaches, there is bound to be danger and adventure on the way.

==Overview==
Necromunda in Space is a ''tactical role-playing'' game.  A tactical role-playing game is an effort to blend the best parts of miniature war games with the best parts of traditional role-playing games.

Like in a role-playing game, the action pits a player or players against a game master who's job it is to create challenges, encounters, and missions for the player to go up against.  However, unlike a role-playing game, the player's character isn't just one guy: his character is the entire crew of the ship.  NiS incorporates a Necromunda-type campaign system where individual crewmen advance in skill and power, and generate income that can be used toward recruiting new crewmen, decking out your ship, or purchasing new and rare equipment.

Like a war game, the bulk of the action and story telling takes place on the table-top though encounters that are played out like traditional games of Necromunda.  This moves the emphasis away from what the players say to what they do once the team is deployed.  But unlike a war game, every man in your crew has a name (and chances are, as the campaign progresses, they will develop a personality of their own as well).  Also, the focus isn't so much on winning or losing, but on the stories that naturally arise from the games.

All this being said, however, one of the great benefits of the NiS system is how flexible it will be.  If the group enjoys more role playing, they can emphasize the role-playing aspects of the game.  If the group likes a little competition, our goal is to make encounters balanced enough so that, once the GM has chosen his force, he doesn't have to pull any punches.

My name is Auzure, and while the idea isn't mine (credit for that has to go to Truckler (who stole the idea from mortishroom )), I've become the unofficial project leader.  However, this project is open to anyone who is interested.  Even if you just have a cool idea or an interesting bit of fluff but have no idea how it would translate into the game mechanic, I encourage you to post it.  Chances are it will inspire someone else to come up with some rules for it.  Also, if you see a blank in a d66 table, or something that says [need fluff here] I encourage you to take a crack at filling it in.  The way I see it, my job is to figure out what needs to be done to complete the game, but if I, or someone else have left something blank, chances are it is because we don't know what to put there!

In addition to this wiki page, there is also a NiS discussion going on at the [http://www.easternfringe.com/forum Eastern Fringe Forum].  Besides being a great place to discuss gaming in general, this was the creative environment that got NiS up and running, so often times I'll post links in the rule set to the EF discussion about the topic.
