Skills: Unarmed Combat, Melee Weapons, Intimidation, Mechanics, Craftsmanship Occupation: Lumberjack and Defender Drawbacks: Is easy to anger and has trouble controlling himself. He wants to be smarter, as his reliance on his strength has cause him no small amount of trouble.

Childhood Events: Early in his life, Vergen was out collecting wood when a group of raiders (you tell me which) snatched him and planned to sell him. An advisor to the raider leader, some crazy but insightful old man, told them to keep the boy instead of selling or killing him.

Initiation Event: As part of the Raider group he had many hardships but those only made him stronger and tougher. Eventually he grew to his full size, towering over some adults within the year. He became a full raider, using his bulk and intimidation to raid others.

Trail Event: Being helped by the old advisor, he was given some extra privileges like real food and a bed. During his years as a raider, the old man, once, gets himself into trouble while getting extra food for Vergen. When the Raiders were ready to execute the old man, Vergen fights the executioners. This marks his first actions of violence, showing him the power of his rage. When the other Raiders see the dead Raider, they accept Vergen as a full Raider who now uses intimidation and his raw strength to affect other’s actions.

Conflict Event: Eventually Vergen grew to become the strongest within the raiders and would soon lead them until another raider group came in while they were celebrating and wiped them out. Vergen and the Old man were able to escape safely, with a few supplies, having nowhere else to go, they make for Vergen’s family home.

Relations between PC characters:

Outside Connections: The Old Man: Infused the Cult of Speed and Chrome upon Vergen. Refusing to give a name but reacting to anything remotely old, he has survived this world for some time. Being a mechanic and tinkerer when he was in his previous group, he grew to his current situation by making weapons for Raiders. Those Raiders easily overpowered their enemies and kept the Old Man. They treat him like a slave, throwing impossible tasks and berating and beating him when he failed. But his usefulness has kept him alive. Being a collector of books in his previous life, he carried a scrapbook of collated pages which he calls the Holy Book. The book describes great metal machines, beasts that have the condensed essence of hundreds of horses, the great Car. He shared this with Vergen and taught him to praise any sign of good craftsmanship, especially the piston engine. “Praise the Holy V8, two banks of four!” The Traitor: A Raider from Vergen’s old group who always despised the other raiders. When shown the opportunity, he sold his group to another in exchange for better treatment. The Hunter: Is hunting down Vergen, who killed his brother. A Raider from the group who eventually eliminates Vergen’s Raiders, they go forward with the hopes of collecting Vergen’s head one day, for the brother he killed, during a previous raid.
