SYSTEM DATA FILE - Port Wander
SECTOR: Calixis
SUBSECTOR: Drusus Marches
SYSTEM: Rubycon II, red supergiant star
POPULATION: Approx. 5 million on station, 5 million in system
CLASS: Battlefleet Calixis Orbital Station
TITHE GRADE: Aptus Non

PLANETARY GOVERNOR: Commander Larius Sans (Imperial Navy)
ECONOMY: Throne Gelt is the primary currency, with moneychangers offering services for the major currencies of local worlds, usually at high rates of exchange. The economy thrives because of the port's use as a waystation for goods passing in and out of the Koronus Expanse, as well as the lucrative trades of merchant provenders catering to the needs of Rogue Traders and Chartist Captains.
PRINCIPAL EXPORTS: Refined metals and ores from Rustrock, ship components and naval manpower, numerous goods and commodities from the Koronus Expanse
PRINCIPAL IMPORTS: Trade goods from the Calixis Sector, luxury goods, foodstuffs, raw materials
DEFENCES: Well-maintained static defenses including macrobatteries and lances, squadrons of defense monitors, frequent presence of Battlefleet Calixis warships

Locations

Rustrock

Close to the harsh red light of Rubycon II is a small, rocky and tide-locked planet dubbed 'Rustrock.' Only discovered in later system surveys, one half of the planet is scoured by the harsh radiation of the system's star, while the other half, the dark half, is sparsely inhabited by miners living in shielded hab-structures, who mine the planet's iron and adamantium ores and labor in its factories and refineries. A steady stream of cargo ships carry the refined ores to Port Wander's foundries and shipyards.

Carlon and Thamos

Known to the inhabitants of the system as the Ruby Brothers, the planets Carlon and Thamos are two hydrogen-helium gas giants slowly orbiting Rubycon II. Named for the two sons of Vivaldi Jontur, the Rogue Trader who first surveyed the system, the planets are mined by scoopships for their gases, which are then refined and processed into the plasma fuel which powers the reactors of voidships. Between the orbital paths of the two gas giants is a dense asteroid belt, known as 'Ruby's Belt' or merely 'the Rocks.' Situated near to Port Wander itself, the Belt is host to repair yards, low-gee hydroponic farms, asteroid miners, and luxury estates for Imperial nobles.

Kaiki, Apeli, and Skiri

The three outermost planets of the Rubycon system, Kaiki, Apeli and Skiri are frozen ice planets whose orbital paths take hundreds of years to complete, taking them far out beyond the light of Rubycon II and into the iceclouds of the system's extreme outer reaches. While there is little of apparent interest on Kaiki and Apeli, the outermost planet, Skiri, is the site of an Adeptus Mechanicus outpost, Altar-Templum-Calixis-Ext-3. Apparently established for the purpose of monitoring the warp activities of the Maw, the station does not permit non-Mechanicus ships to stray too close to the dark and icy world, under threat of destruction.
