===Background===

Originally from Austria, Hans Baumgartner immigrated to the United States in the 70's with dreams of becoming a successful actor. He managed land first bit parts and then more significant jobs till he landed his breakthrough role in Kavar The Warrior. Following that was his casting as the titular character in the classic Cyber-Killer and then his career took off. In the 80's and 90's his wise cracking, amiable manner captured the hearts of audiences and made him box office gold with a slew of blockbuster hits under his belt such as Super Soldier, Alien Hunter, Wholesale Memories and of course the various Cyber-Killer sequels. At the turn of the century Hans decided to take a break from acting to do his civic duty and enter the political arena, serving two terms as Mayor of Los Angeles.

After his stint as Mayor Hans returned to show business. He still managed to get parts and draw audiences but his career was a shadow of what it was at its apex. His age didn't help. It was harder to do the action scenes and stunt work he easily performed in his youth. Hans missed his glory days and wished there was someway he could recapture them. So when the Arches first appeared and people began le arning what they could do, he decided to take a chance. Using the government connections he made as Mayor, Hans pulled strings to gain access to an Arch.

Hans walked through the Arch hoping to shed the burdens of old age and mortality. He succeeded in a way he totally did not expect, getting much more than the youth he bargained for. The first thing he noticed was a glossy crispness to his appearance that looks too good compared to the reality surrounding him. He then discovered he had a very faint glow that one might only notice if they were looking for it in a darkened room, sort of comparable to the illumination a film would provide in a movie theater with the house lights down. A little bit after that he discovered the true extent of his change. He had become iconic, larger than life and eternal like all his famous roles. He found he possessed an enhanced strength and resilience like an exaggerated version of the attributes his characters commonly exhibited. And like them, he had rapid recuperative abilities so he'd always be better by the next "scene." And finally, he could literally shift attire to any outfit he had ever worn on stage or screen, big and small. Hans realized his new abilities and appearance meant simply returning to his old Hollywood career was not an option. His capabilities came with a duty to use them to help his fellow citizens. So he regulated his show business career to being a secondary concern and put himself at the disposal of the public and authorities to do just that.
