==LAST STAND==
The hobgoblins were largely taken by surprise and as such gave no organized resistance. The usual tunnel scouts were too quickly overrun to give warning and the noise of fighting (coming from the goblin caves) was too common to cause alarm. While most of the hobgoblins were fully capable of fighting, they were no match for Ironshod Company. The sole survivor, Sotlag, was simply lucky--and quick-thinking enough to run. Thanks to a teleport incantation a dead end turned out to be not-so-deadly. Once to a safe tunnel, Sotlag bumbled his way confusedly through death and destruction, eventually finding safe haven in a secret passage to the Temple of Orcus, only to be captured and imprisoned by the death worshipers!

In a short description, give an idea of some of the "Last Stand" events that happened in your race's lair when the "Villains" from the Keep on the Borderland began the slaughter.

==DESCRIPTION==
First impression: small and weak-looking for a hobgoblin, putting Sotlag at around 5'8" and perhaps 165 pounds. His skin color is that of burned red chili peppers, not quite red but almost black, as typical of the hobgoblin race that resided in the Caves. Also similar to those you might have seen before, Sotlag dyes his hair a bold color--bright red. What he lacks in physical prowess Sotlag has made up for it in his incredible physical stamina. Constantly picked on (which among hobgoblins who regularly beat each other up is saying something) Sotlag grew up knowing pain and eventually learning from and mastering it. He has a cunning mind and an attitude disrespectful of authority and other races.

Note descriptors that a stranger would notice about a character after a minute (1st Impression) of interacting with your PC. These can be physical traits, mannerisms, or props. For example:  "tall, willowy, with a big ol' mole on her face."

I lernd my letters young before all others and lernd history to keep the Clan Word. My Tragm (taecher) told me the ways and taght me the stars from the bluff and ther magic. Powerfilld magic of the kind to destroy our enemies and make them fearfilld. One moon Guuspec killed my Tragm and took his place so I turnd to introgating prisonors wich I was better at. My new Tragm, Amphion, showd me the ways of the King that Crawls.

And I lernd more magic on my own. How to bring forth Flamespaun.

==HEROIC MOTIVATION==
After escaping the caves, and freeing his mind of the cursed wand he possessed, Sotlag discovered to his dismay that not only had the other races been killed off as well, but the few remaining survivors were too ignorant to accept him. Witch indeed! Though the danger of their distrust was far lesser than the dangers faced by striking out on his own, Sotlag had no choice, lest he find a blade in his back. After some torturous fun Sotlag took his leave of his former "allies"...

Playing a monster will be fun but different, what's your Heroic Motivation from your "monster" point of view?  How might it be different from a noraml PC?
