The raids drove his people into a wilderness thick with supernatural predators and renegade sorcerors, where they would have died if a Star Knight had not arrived. When the pack was settled in a safe location, Kono asked to be come the Knight's squire, and she accepted. After seven years of working togeher she made him a full Star Knight, and Kono immediately set out in pursuit of of a mid-level death cult member who'd gotten away on on thier last mission together.
