The second eldest child and eldest daughter of Christopher and Julie Marina, both teachers in Jennifer's school (much to her ever lasting horror). Jennifer's ambition in life was to become a marine biologist, despite not really being smart (or rich) enough to be able to pull it off. An excellent swimmer and frequent scuba diver (she owns her own equipment) Jennifer found a niche for herself in the girls swimming team. Though she only managed to make a reserve member, largely due to the head of the team Libby Stevenson.

One day when on a scuba diving trip off the local beach she found what looked like badly injured otter tangled in seaweed. Jennifer untangled it, and was surprised when it suddenly swam gently into her arms. She brought it back up to the surface and was about to go fetch her phone so she could call the RSPCA when the otter spoke to her.

He thanked her for saving him and told her she didn't to call anyway, she could heal him herself. He taught her how to do it, to channel her natural compassion for things into an actual healing energy. The otters wounds were quickly healed and he asked to be taken home with her. Jennifer, in shock, agreed and then the otter turned into a smaller creature and hit inside her backpack.

Two nights later, while Jennifer was back at the beach with the otter, whom she named 'Lutra' after the scientific name for an otter, they were attacked by something that emerged from the water. Lutra claimed it was a servant of the 'Nihls' and that it was coming to kill him, because he was a servant of Creation. He told Jennifer she had power inside her, that she needed to use to save the world. And that he could help bring it out of her. Not in a position to argue, Jennifer agreed. Lutra transformed into a magical staff, and when Jennifer picked it up. She transformed too.

Suddenly aware of the interconnected relationships and compassion that holds Creation together, she channeled that into the creature and then stripped away the entropy and hatred in its heart. With the darkness gone, it was reveled to be just a small seal, which quickly hopped back into the water and swam away.

Since then, Jennifer has been secretly fighting and healing in her transformed state, somehow evaded anyone discovering who she is (with one exception) although there is talk around of a costumed warrior fighting in the name of protection and love and protecting the people in the school.

In her natural state, Jennifer is more or less a normal young girl. She has the ability to dispel evil from people and even to heal in this form, but that is all. When she transforms however she gains greater powers channeling the forces of compassion, with a secondary focus on healing (a subset of compassion) and water (associated with healing)

All of her powers are defensive in nature, in order to use her powers offensively she needs the help of Lutra in his Staff form (which Jennifer calls Lutra's Gift). This means that Jennifer loses all her offensive abilities should Lutra be kidnapped or lost. Lutra tends to accompany Jennifer at all times usually hiding in her backpack in the form of a small easily unnoticed animal.

When she transforms the energy of Creation lifts her up and spins her around as her entire aura glows, her clothes and anything she is carrying is taken away safely as her magic armour forms out of energy around her. At the same time Lutra transforms into his staff form. (Though he remains where he was previously). Her armour is a modified form of the wetsuit she was wearing when she first transformed.

Libby Stevenson is the head of the girls swimming team and the best swimmer among them. She's also an obnoxious bully who is mean to pretty much everyone she meets. And somehow she remains popular despite this. She centres much of her bullying on the reserve swimmers, including Jennifer. Jennifer attempted to deal with Libby the same way she deals with most problems, by reaching out. This made Libby react to her even worse and now she singles Jennifer out more.

Recently, Libby was beaten by Jennifer in a swimming contest held after hours and has been unable to live this down. Convinced that Jennifer must have cheated, she is now searching for as much dirt on Jennifer as she can find. She has already began to notice that Jennifer and the schools mysterious protector are never found in the same place at the same time....

Jennifer's other nemesis is an even more personal threat, it's her own father Christopher Marinia. Christopher was once saved by Jenny in her transformed state and is now determined to find out who she is. So he can thank her of course. Jennifer hides her identity because she feels they'll be put at risk if they know, and has been trying to subtly put off her fathers investigation. Which has only lead to Christopher thinking his daughter knows something, causing him to watch her more closely than usual..
