Intro[edit]

Shadow Creek, MT. Used to be a small logging community, now, thanks to a newish computer factory and the general 'suburb' movement, big town comforts with a small town feel. Museum, high school, a small state-sponsored college, a few cleared strips of land for the skydivers to take off and land on. A lake a bit north of the center of town. Town landmarks, mom and pop eating places, a mall that seems to be requisite of any largish community these days...all surrounded by woods that loom over the now much-tamed creek that gave the town its name...or maybe it only looks tamed.

For Shadow Creek, like any town, has its secrets...its stories...its things that won't stay buried. Literally.

From an aerial viewpoint, Shadow Creek is normal in layout and sprawl. But if one could look with eyes fastened on the ethereal plane...Lines criss and cross over and under buildings, nodes well up like hillocks, and sinks darken streets like spilled tar. For Shadow Creek is a crazed spiderweb of ley-lines, mystical energy. For the most part, the energy goes on its natural way, causing little interaction with your average Creeker. But for the past few years..decades..centuries, someone (or something) has been tampering with the lines, causing some of them to pool their energy under the center of town. Right under the high school, that bastion of learning and angst and childhood trauma. Go Fighting Lumberjacks! To the average Creeker, this information means about as much as the languages printed in the backs of the manuals that come with your VCR/DVD player. But to others, this points to a sinister motive.

For with the 'right' feeding and vitamins, this pool could collapse...goodbye Shadow Creek high school, hello Shadow Creek Hellmouth. But there are people who keep an eye on such things, who watch and wait just in case. To put up "Do Not Feed the Lil' Hellmouth!" signs in a way. To keep an eye out for growing trouble. Interesting people are attracted to such places...
