<Verithe> H, RN!
<Angelo> Evening guys.
<BethE> Hi guys!
<Verithe> *Hi
<Knockwood> Hiya RN, Beth
<Verithe> Hi, Angelo and Beth!
<BethE> Cool, lots of people!
<Angelo> well, I skipped some sessions, anyone can do a summary for me?
<Knockwood> Well, the world's ending.
<Verithe> Last week was cancelled and the week before was Chuubo's, yes?
<Verithe> In which Jasper talked to her brother.
<Angelo> But I was away the week before that one too
<Verithe> I don't remember if we had game that week....
<BethE> We..haven't had a game for a while.
<Lazarus> (in which Jasper snarked at her brother.)
<BethE> There's been people gone and sickness and somewhere in there, I switched computers...
<Angelo> ah, well I was away for a while also
<Lazarus> and RN had to cope with learning Windows 8
<Angelo> brrrrrr win8 .... brrr I hope is a least 8.1
<Random_Nerd> It is.
<Knockwood> that's what this machine is running
<Lazarus> and somewhere in all this, I misplaced my iPad keyboard
<Lazarus> ( :( )
=-= BethE is now known as Theresa
<Random_Nerd> Need a moment to find it?
<Lazarus> nah. Working on my desktop for now
=-= Verithe is now known as Kite
<Lazarus> it's somewhere in my apartment; I'll find it some day.
=-= Lazarus is now known as Brian
=-= Knockwood is now known as DanteE
=-= YOU are now known as Ftisk
<Ftisk> (that is the right spirit Laz!)
<Theresa> So we were going to go into the past but we know that it's kind of a crap-shoot to try and do that and hit the right thing, right?
<Brian> oh yeah!
<Brian> that!
<DanteE> I was thinking, as long as we're doing that, we could go back further
<Random_Nerd> Just watch out for Plan Creep.
<DanteE> hell, go all the way back to the creation of the Wall.
<Kite> Kite is wondering if we should plan to, sometime after the Age is over, come back to the present and tell ourselves to chill out.
<Random_Nerd> Before the zeppelin's on fire and you've lost your hat.
<DanteE> well, there is that whole saving Creation factor.
<Kite> Or not chill out. However it goes.
<Brian> any plan where you lose your hat is a bad plan.
<Random_Nerd> You can't go back to the creation of the Wall.
<Theresa> How much energy would we need to go back to the WALL?
<Random_Nerd> This is time travel, and that was /before/ time.

  • DanteE makes note: Give hat to William to hold

<Random_Nerd> That was during the Unknown Age. Time didn't exist until the First Age.
<Brian> (impressive. 1000$ to play a game with Will Wheaton at GenCon, and there's 35 / 40 slots still free.)
<DanteE> hm... well, would we learn anything if we went back and observed the enChanceling?
<Random_Nerd> Of Amyra?
<DanteE> yeah
<Random_Nerd> I mean, you were /there/.
<Random_Nerd> Already, I mean.
<Random_Nerd> What would you learn the second time around?
<Brian> but this would be from an outsider's perspective?
<DanteE> yeah, but we had no idea what was going on
<Theresa> We would pull James out and create _Yet Another James_!
<Random_Nerd> You can /do/ it, it'd be far easier to find than many points.
<Random_Nerd> Because you have strong connections to it.
<Random_Nerd> But I'm not sure what the goal would be.
<Theresa> But this would be a James who hasn't calmed down and who would probably beat up Lesson.
<DanteE> answering the biggest question of all... why _us_? :)
<Random_Nerd> Why you for what?
<Brian> because we're the best for the job?
<Ftisk> Ftisk is perfectly content to be him
<DanteE> we could take a huge risk and go to the beginning of the Valde Bellum
<Theresa> Why us...why not us?
<Theresa> We don't have that great of a connection there, though, I think.
<Random_Nerd> Remember, like Canada, if you die in the past, you die in /real life/.
<Kite> You.....no! That's not how Canada works! It can't be!
<Brian> It isn't.
<Brian> you get poutine when you die.
<Brian> from the poutine festivals.
<Kite> Whew!
<Brian> (there's currently a poutine festival going on)
<Brian> poutine pizza is also a thing.
<Brian> although a proper Canadian pizza is pepperoni, bacon, and mushrooms.
<Random_Nerd> So.
<Random_Nerd> Ready to start?
<Theresa> Hannibal Lector is vowing not to go to Canada, no matter how polite they are.
<Kite> I believe so.
<Brian> I suppose so
<Ftisk> I think so
<DanteE> sure
<Brian> (what do they call pepperoni, bacon, mushroom pizza where you guys all are? I can't really imagine it being a truly Canadian thing. Because bacon.)
<Theresa> I vote that we go to _one_ spot in the past. I don't know how many metaphysical quarters we have to put into the wayback machine, but I'd like to have some juice left for wedding and meeting.
<Random_Nerd> (A Supreme pizza. Although it would also have olives.)
<Theresa> (Supreme would also have green peppers.)
<Random_Nerd> (And possibly sausage instead of bacon.)
<Kite> (and onions)
<Random_Nerd> (Supreme has a lot of stuff in general.)
<DanteE> (OBTW, I've been putting up Chuubo logs: http://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/Chuubo:the_SNURCers )
<Theresa> (I think they just call it a pepperoni, bacon, mushroom pizza.)
<Random_Nerd> (Oh, cool. Thanks for doing that!)
<Ftisk> (Cool Dante!)
<DanteE> (Might want to check that I didn't ... reveal too much ...)
<--| Theresa has left #Nobilis
<DanteE> (oops)
-->| Theresa (~Random_Ne@MagicStar-E12F880F.hsd1.il.comcast.net) has joined #Nobilis
<Theresa> Darn it...
<DanteE> are you on a tablet?
<Theresa> Hit the wrong button in mirc.
<DanteE> ah.
<Theresa> But so, what do people think of my vote?
<Kite> I second it.
<DanteE> Hm... it's the sensible option.
<DanteE> (so why the heck are we even considering it?!? :p )
<Theresa> Can we save the non-sensible for the wedding and meeting?
<Random_Nerd> (Huh. What do you think William's bachelor party will be like?)
<Theresa> Serious, I can get Dante a bachelor's party just for him. He's a bachelor, he can get a party.
<Random_Nerd> (Strippers! Dionyl strippers! Joutun strippers!)
<Theresa> Dear...it's my turn for the brain. No, wait, you're GMing, you get the brain.
<Brian> (William’s bachelor party would be tweed suits and turntables)
<Ftisk> (I think that party will be Ftisk managed.. what can go wrong?)
<Random_Nerd> (No. Because it will be thrown by his Best Man.)
<Theresa> No, see, William doesn't get to pick the party. Sam does.
<Random_Nerd> (And we know who that is.)
<Theresa> Sam will..have a movie night.
<Random_Nerd> (Pro Tip: You could be surrounded by Dionyl strippers at this very moment, and you would not know.)
<Theresa> Does Ftisk know what a bachelor party is?
<DanteE> and he'll bring his biggest fans. Literally. Kinda like a buffet.
<Kite> :C
<Brian> (RN: that's Quote Thread worthy)
<Ftisk> Nope, Ftisk have no idea!
<Random_Nerd> _____________START____________
<Theresa> (So, agreed that we go back to the Wall as it is breached and watch the fights?)
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "...and that's why I never wear pants."
<DanteE> (And try to figure out what happened.)
<Kite> (Sounds good)
<Brian> (score one for the quoted out of context brigade)
<Theresa> "..that was not the reason I expected."
<DanteE> "... strangely enough, there's a homeless guy in the park who uses the same reasoning."
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Koalas can be /vicious/."
<Kite> "Why do you wear clothes at all?"

  • Ftisk look dubious

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Style, Dominus."
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Style."
<Brian> "And we all know who styles best, wins."

  • Kite looks unconvinced

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "STYLE."
<DanteE> (Conference room?)
<Theresa> (Because Sam spoke at some time when Will thought he was alone and Will threatened him with an hair dryer to swear to always wear something.)
<Theresa> "Kite, if Sam didn't wear clothes, he couldn't be shiny."
<Theresa> (Sounds good to me.)
<DanteE> "All right... I'd still like to have a good idea of what we'll tell the Excrucians at the summit.
<Kite> (Kite is sick of the conference room. He will perch on the windowsill.)

  • Kite glances at Sam

<Brian> (Brian has recently increased the shininess of the inlay on the main table.)
<DanteE> "So... if we go into the Deep Mythic and head back to Breach Day, we might be able to see what happened and maybe what they were trying to accomplish.
<Theresa> "We might learn something to tell them from the trip through the spirit world."
<DanteE> "or maybe even who did it.

  • Kite is now splayed on the main table

<DanteE> (Was that day when Shirk came in, or before?)
<Random_Nerd> (Which day?)

  • Ftisk grab as much popcorn as a small cart can manage to bear

<Random_Nerd> (Oh, Breach Day?)
<Theresa> (Shirk came in after Breach Day.)
<DanteE> (Breach Day)
<Random_Nerd> (Before. Considerably before.)
<DanteE> (Ah, but Entropy made his big announcement after.)
<Random_Nerd> (Which big announcement?)
<Brian> (shit, I wonder if the Wall had a temporary shirking of responsibility.)
<DanteE> (That Shirk is now an ambassador)
<DanteE> (Brian: if it did, we might see it)
<Theresa> (Breach Day ---> Shirk came in---> Entropy announcement.)
<Random_Nerd> (Breach day happened considerably before Shirk. Like 80 sessions.)
<DanteE> "Only question is, how do we get there?"
<Theresa> "Sam, William, is any memory lost when travelling in the spirit world?"
<DanteE> (And it just occurred to me that Etheric was formulating a plan to use Hope to do this.)
<Ftisk> "Spirit world is funny and full of post-it"
<Random_Nerd> William: "As I understand it, which is very little, it is... disorienting."
<Random_Nerd> William: "Like being drunk on cough syrup and having a fever at the same time that somebody stole your legs."
<Ftisk> "And ah, show that I'm under some heavy weights scrutiny" *wink*
<Theresa> (..yeah, he was.)
<DanteE> "Reminds me..."
<Random_Nerd> William: "Nobles /can/ operate without time or space in the conventional sense, but I understand that it is difficult."

  • DanteE heads into his vault.

<Theresa> "Dante, you are not going to cut the Wall with your sword!"
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Well, not /without/. Time and space are /there/. Just... sort of off to the side?"

  • Theresa facepalms. "Please, don't let Breach Day have happened because Dante cut the Wall..."

<Brian> "Interesting."
<DanteE> "Sure, ruin _all_ my plans..." /sarcasm
<Random_Nerd> (I have faith in you guy's ability to destroy the world by accident.)
<Theresa> (You would.)
<Brian> (All As Planned?)
<Ftisk> (was NOT Ftisk, is NEVER Ftisk's fault!)
<Theresa> "I don't like paradoxes!"
<Random_Nerd> William: "Remember, it isn't exactly time travel. Imperators are all slightly outside of causality in the normal sense."
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Or causality is based on /them/, rather than the other way around."

  • DanteE comes out holding a small jar.

<Random_Nerd> William: "Right. And everything else is determined by them, but you'll be running on a much smaller supply of causality than usual."
<Brian> (I love Sam / William banter)
<DanteE> "William, I'm entrusting you with this. You can probably think of several reasons why."
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "So the biggest way to affect things is to persuade Imperators."
<Random_Nerd> William: "Which is never easy."
<DanteE> The jar has a cut-up eyeball in it.
<Random_Nerd> William looks at it.
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Is that yours? Or do you just, like, /collect/ them?"
<Theresa> (You kept your eyeball?!?)
<DanteE> (Why not?)
<Brian> (...)
<DanteE> (Granted, it's floating in formaldehyde...)
<Theresa> (And is it cut-up into tiny pieces and only you would know it's an eyeball or is it kinda just slashed a bit?)
<DanteE> (slashed, then professionally removed)
<Theresa> (You didn't mention the liquid before. I thought it was just rolling around like a ping pong ball.)
<DanteE> (sorry, T)
<Brian> (ping pong ball is funnier)
<Theresa> (It's okay.  :) It'a a neat touch!)
<Random_Nerd> William: "Do you have anything particular you want me to do with it?"
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Want me to shake fish food in the top each day?"
<Theresa> (Yeah, but I wouldn't believe that it was still good. So to speak. I'd think it'd be dried up eye leather if it wasn't preserved.)
<DanteE> "Keep a hold of it. It may be a way back if things go wrong."
<Random_Nerd> William /looks/ at Sam.
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "What? It's a reasonable question! It's made of meat! Meat needs to eat! And, like, it's in the /water/, so..."
<Random_Nerd> William just keeps glaring.
<Random_Nerd> Sam stops.
<DanteE> unsaid: and maybe a way for you to take over if things go _really_ wrong.
<Theresa> "It's an eyeball, Sam. I don't think it needs to be fed, but thank you for the thought."
<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Okay!"
<DanteE> "In fact, the rest of you might want to come up with your own contingency plans."
<Random_Nerd> William: "If any trouble occurs while you are occupied, who do you wish us to call upon?"
<DanteE> "Hm... Consequences?"
<Ftisk> "call Gnomely"
<Brian> "William: Patterns. Tell him that Entropy said Patterns was a noob."
<Theresa> "Lesson."
<Random_Nerd> Writing on the table: "Bite me, Numbers."
<Ftisk> "Or my bro at channel Vulcan for the biiig things"
<Kite> "Gil gets my stuff if anything happens to me."
<Theresa> (I ha! -ed at the table.)
<Kite> "But he already knows this."
<Theresa> "I will..leave some stuff at the Grove and let my off-site staff know, for end of life situations, I guess."
<Random_Nerd> Patterns: "I was already watching the conversation, incidentally. I will also watch your Chancel, if you wish."
<DanteE> (Isn't that against the agreement?)
<Theresa> "Thank you very much, Patterns. We appreciate it and your time spent on it."
<Brian> (not exactly, Dante)
<Random_Nerd> Patterns: "I have been expanding my awareness. It has grown easier to be aware of many places at once."
<Ftisk> "Cool!"
<DanteE> "Anyway. Let's get travelling soon."
<Theresa> *to William* "Does one just simply walk into the spirit world?"
<Random_Nerd> ( "Very well. I agree, in return, to not invade minds of Amyra, for the period of one year, unless and until a reasonable person with the knowledge I have would believe that I face a clear and present threat from there.")
<DanteE> (ah, minds, OK)
<Random_Nerd> (He's just listening to sound here.)
<Brian> (besides, I kinda want him to keep an eye on us. First off, no one else would really know he was. Second, keeps us honest. Third, possibly a back-up if things really go pear-shaped)
<DanteE> (It is a little dark for us to be making if-everything-goes-to-hell plans...)
<Theresa> (I don't think that he can keep an eye on us in the past. But he can keep an eye on home.)
<Ftisk> (is realistic not dark :-P )
<Random_Nerd> Patterns, on the table: "If you die, and I am asked what you died doing, what do you wish to be said? It need not be the truth, if you prefer."
<Theresa> "The truth will be fine for me. This will be weird enough already."
<Ftisk> "I want to be remembered dying doing sex with Gnomely"
<Brian> (I meant I want him spying on us in present-time :))

  • DanteE rolls his eyes...
  • Kite groans

<Brian> "Did Ftisk say anything? I can't really tell anymore..."
<Random_Nerd> Patterns: "One does not keep a cat, and then act shocked when it acts as a cat will."
<Ftisk> "Kite, Dante get a partner .. even the same one..." *:-P*

  • Ftisk nod at Pattern " ... wait! What?"

<Random_Nerd> Patterns: "To me, he is no stranger than you. You keep your /heart/ in your /body/. Where /anyone/ can find it."
<Theresa> (Bite me, Leonardo!)
<Random_Nerd> Patterns: "And have no redundant backups for the majority of your organs."
<Theresa> (Sorry, force of habit.)
<DanteE> ( :p )
<DanteE> "Tell them I was trying to find the truth."
<Random_Nerd> Patterns: "I will attempt to see that your interests are protected when you are occupied, to the extent that it does not put me in danger or prevent me from fulfilling other obligations of higher importance."
<Theresa> "Thank you very much."
<Ftisk> "Wow that is really kind Pattern!"
<Theresa> "So, shall we make our preparations and then meet back here immediately?"
<Ftisk> "Next time we meet remember to hug you"
<Random_Nerd> Patterns: "In return, I ask a favor."
<Kite> "Yes?"

  • Ftisk raise an eyebrow

<Random_Nerd> Patterns: "You would investigate the day that Warmains acted oddly, correct?"
<Theresa> "Yes."
<Random_Nerd> Patterns: "Do not investigate the attack on Ymera Gamaliel. It is a red herring to what you would discover."
<Theresa> "Do you wish to have popcorn eaten while your Imperator is beaten up?"
<Theresa> (Huh.)
<DanteE> "... how do you know?"

  • Theresa gives Dante a 'duh' look.

<Random_Nerd> Patterns: "I know many things."
<Theresa> (He has more than approximate knowledge!)
<DanteE> "... OK. I guess that ... simplifies things a bit."
<Brian> "He is basically the god of graphs."
<Random_Nerd> (...Patterns is /totally/ voiced by Clancy Brown.)
<Brian> (who is voiced by Brian Blessed?)
<Random_Nerd> (Caesar.)
<Random_Nerd> (No. KUDZU.)
<Random_Nerd> (TOTALLY KUDZU.)
<Brian> (both?)
<Theresa> (You know that Laz has already guessed you in the Demon game.)
<Random_Nerd> Patterns: "Graphs are a simplification."
<Random_Nerd> Patterns: "A tools of those with minds unable to approach data directly, who require a metaphor."
<Brian> (Beth: how much of a no-prize did I win for that?)
<Theresa> (And an Excel sheet.)
<Theresa> (I give you this gigantic internet cookie! Be careful, as since it is from the internet, it probably tastes like cats and porn.)
<Brian> "Yeah, well, we're ... ok, one of them kind of IS Data, but other than that. Graphs are the most natural analog"
<Ftisk> (After death by PowerPoint death by Excel!)
<DanteE> (So, how do we get to traveling through the Deep Mythic?)
<Random_Nerd> (One moment, let me pull up the page reference.)
<Random_Nerd> (Page 100 and following in the Nobilis 3rd book.)
<Random_Nerd> (To do it even vaguely fast requires beating at least a Level 3 auctoritas.)
<DanteE> (Here we go, box on 101)
<Random_Nerd> (And then the same again to reach the spirit world.)
<Theresa> (Ouch.)
<Theresa> (That's a lot of points.)
<Random_Nerd> (So, you need a relevant bond, or a fair few MPs.)
<Brian> (do we get to count the discount from in Chancel?)
<Random_Nerd> (And no, the in-chancel bonus does not apply to this.)
<Theresa> (What stat does it use? Spirit?)
<Brian> (ouch)
<Random_Nerd> (Because you are reaching beyond it.)
<Random_Nerd> (Spirit is no longer a stat.)
<Random_Nerd> (You just need a miracle that is relevant to what you wish to do.)
<Random_Nerd> (However you go about that is up to you.)
<DanteE> ("Passion: Figure out what's going on")
<Brian> (good thing we bought lots of MPs?)
<DanteE> (can we go as a group?)
<Random_Nerd> (A passion is not a bond. It is, instead, equivalent to a skill.)
<Random_Nerd> (Yes, you can.)
<Random_Nerd> (A miracle can cover more than one of you so long as it makes sense.)
<Brian> (I forget - can we pool MPs for such a thing? Group miracle?)
<Random_Nerd> (No.)
<Random_Nerd> (Guys. It's 3 Mps. you each have way more than that.)
<Brian> (true :D)
<Theresa> (Oh, yes, I have 10 in each stat.)
<Theresa> (Just have to come up with a miracle.)
<DanteE> (isn't it 6, since there are 2 barriers?)
<Random_Nerd> (If you want to go to the spirit world.)
<Random_Nerd> (But still. MPs are worth nothing if you never use them.)
<DanteE> (Ah... so we can do what we want to do just from the DM?)
<Random_Nerd> (If you don't, that part of your character sheet may as well just say "I like bacon" and have little drawings of orcs.)
<DanteE> "Hm... any opposition in the Deep Mythic?"
<DanteE> "Debating whether to bring my sword..."
<Brian> (It looks like it's just the L3 Auct to descend?)
<Random_Nerd> (Didn't you anchor the sword?)
<Brian> (no specific miracle level, I mean)
<Random_Nerd> (It has to make sense, basically.)
<DanteE> (via Treasure, yeah)
<Random_Nerd> (Then you can just leave it behind and then summon it with a miracle if you actually need it.)
<Theresa> (Hmm, how about a Will spent for the Intention: "I will visit the spirit world to view what happened at the Wall on Breach Day.")
<Random_Nerd> (One advantage of Treasure is that your Cool Stuff is always available at short notice.)
<DanteE> (Could I use it to cut open the Auc, or would that cause problems?)
<Brian> (James Wallis in Canon is epic, stabbing Deuteronomy and reducing him to dust.)
<Random_Nerd> (*looks at official Nobilis answers to such questions* You can try!)
<Brian> (Careful Dante, you're one step from stabbing the Wall.)
<Ftisk> (Stab the wall, stab the wall!!!!)
<Brian> (I think we're better off using our Domains for this. Courage to find out what happened, Data to gather the information, or Numbers to manipulate when we're observing?)
<Theresa> (Okay, L3 miracle of Aspect. Theresa is Aspect 3 smart and would like to gain more knowledge and thus wishes to visit the spirit world to view what happened at the Wall on Breach Day.)
<DanteE> (Data is probably the best fit)
<DanteE> (what would be needed for T's thing to take us along?)
<Random_Nerd> (A clear explanation of how it will work?)
<Brian> (oh yeah, Malignancies of Kanonoliths! I forgot how much I loved flipping through this book!)
<Theresa> (Yeah, my Aspect idea wouldn't work.)
<Theresa> (One of not-high-Aspect cannot simply walk into the spirit world.)
<Random_Nerd> (You could use Aspect to change how /you/ see things.)
<Random_Nerd> (But it's tough to imagine that applying to the others.)
<DanteE> (Data domain?)
<Theresa> (I'd think that either Data or Courage would work. Not sure how to word the miracle.)
<Random_Nerd> (Hmm. Things Of Amyra?)
<Theresa> (Hmm. Enter the mythic world of Amyra, which is a thing of Amyra. Then move from there to the spirit world some other way.)
<DanteE> (Amyra's not involved)
<Ftisk> (Ftisk could filter what we see in Spirit space and feed it to you like near realtime)
<DanteE> (Oh, yes it is)
<DanteE> (Oh, wait. A miracle of Blades based on "are made to go through the medium they're applied to")
<Random_Nerd> (That's got legs...)
<DanteE> (Which means I could use Treasure and my sword, technically)
<Ftisk> (cool Dante)
<Theresa> (Hey, a property of Amyra is 'has Paths to places'! That could work!)
<DanteE> (yeah, forests and cities...)
<Theresa> (Forests and cities still exist in the mythic.)
<Random_Nerd> (But she isn't talking about using the actual borderlands, but the pseudoestate of Things Of Amyra.)
<Random_Nerd> (Do we still have Laz here?)
<Kite> (Could I Assemble a bridge to the Mythic?)
<Brian> (I could use a Persona miracle to Amyra us up)
<DanteE> (So, we use that to make a path to Mythic Kaerkoven?)
<Theresa> (...we don't need a new King.)
<DanteE> (And it occurs to me we may be letting rules quibbles get in the way of the bleedin' story...)
<Brian> (but it's actually been a while since we've Ruled it up in here.)
<Brian> (I'm kinda liking the Persona of Amyra miracle to connect us to a Path to Spirit World)
<DanteE> (You mean DM?)
<Random_Nerd> (Gotta get to the Deep Mythic first.)
<Brian> (*nods* that. Yes.)
<Kite> (I like that idea too.)
<Theresa> (Okay, then let's Persona to Amyra in the Deep Mythic.)
<Kite> (Will this path always lead to Deep Mythic?)
<Random_Nerd> (And then you could use Persona of Blades to Go Deeper THOOOOOOOOMMMMMMBBBB.)
<DanteE> (It's a path we can all go down without having to spend our own MPs, right?)
<Random_Nerd> (If it makes sense the way he describes it.)
<Brian> (My concept is imbuing the "Has Paths to Places" in us, limited-wise to be _we_ have a Path to the Deep Mythic. Hopefully the same place.)
<DanteE> (and I'm thinking it should start in the clock itself)
<Theresa> (Okay, then let's go!)

  • Ftisk land on T. shoulder
  • Theresa is ready!

<DanteE> (OK, presumably we've been talking this through IC so we know what we're doing while confusing the hell out of our aides? :) )
<Theresa> (Since it's Brian's Persona, I think you should right it up.)

  • Ftisk put security straps on!

<Theresa> (Argh. Write. Shoot me.)
<Brian> (in process!)

  • DanteE puts up his own Auc, just in case.

<Random_Nerd> (Remember that putting on your auctoritas takes MPs.)
<Brian> "Ok, guys. Let's get going. Feel within yourselves - you're connected to the Deep Mythic here."
<DanteE> (Would it last the whole trip?)
<Random_Nerd> (One scene.)
<Theresa> (Ooooooommmmmmm)
<DanteE> (OK, I'll wait.)
<DanteE> "Should we tell our Aides not to look?"
<Brian> (this is a Level 4 Persona Miracle to Imbue Paths to Places in the group, +3 Strike to overcome Auctoritas. I have P1 in Amyra. And do I get the discount for doing an Amyra Miracle in Amyra?)
<Theresa> (Knowing Will and his self-preservation, he's probably already taken cover.)
<Theresa> (No, because the Mythic is everywhere.)
<Random_Nerd> (No, they want to watch. From their perspective, you will remain where you are and start acting crazy.)
<Theresa> (Like Elvis.)
<Theresa> ('Start' acting crazy? When have we stopped?)
<Ftisk> (LOL)
<DanteE> (Good point, Aide training probably has a huge emphasis on poker faces...)
<Random_Nerd> (Imagine it's like... like a guy in the bar suddenly stands on the table and starts making wrestling gestures as he shouts insults at Aten. And then there's an eclipse.)
<Brian> (Fuck, I can't find the rules for how to add up MPs anymore. I have enough MPs to cover this, I know, though :) )
<Theresa> (That's an interesting description, RN.)
<DanteE> (aaaaaand it's late enough that I suspect the actual trip will be in 2 weeks?)
<Brian> ("trip" is right ^_^)
<Random_Nerd> (I think that sounds about right.)
<Random_Nerd> (Hey! I figured out how Plants can do it!)
<Random_Nerd> (DRUGS.)
<Ftisk> (Me too)
<Brian> (looks like I get a Hard Miracle for 2 MPs + 3 MP for Strike possibly -3 for Chancel Discount.)
<Theresa> (..but the best drugs come from mushrooms?)
<Random_Nerd> (Don't hafta.)
<Ftisk> (lol RN, let's start acting stranger with plant solution to deep mythic travel)
<DanteE> (We could always shoo our Aides and lock the door...)
<Kite> (Use morning glories, Theresa. They've got an LSD-like compound)
<Random_Nerd> (No chancel discount.)
<Brian> (ok. So, half my PMPs spent!)
<Random_Nerd> (Rule 1 of having a drug trip/psychotic episode when right next to gigantic clock gears is to not send your sober buddy out of the room.)
<DanteE> (Aren't we in the conference room?)
<Theresa> (At least Kite can actually fly. Although, not sure if he can if he's not thinking straight about it.)
<Random_Nerd> (Thought you said you were moving to the clock.)
<Random_Nerd> (Earlier.)
<Random_Nerd> Describe your miracle, Brian!
<DanteE> (That was assuming we needed a place with 'significance'...
<DanteE> (Considering Kudzu manifests there and he's been all over the Mythics and Spirit World)
<Theresa> (Oh, huh, the morning glories thing is a precursor to LSD.)
<Brian> What pretty much happens is that, given that members of the group wish it to happen and don't take a wound, there is a deep pulling sensation in their core. From our point of view, we kind of get sucked inside ourselves and end up in the Deep Mythic in a sort of inversion of self.
<Brian> (From Will and Sam's point of view, I don't know if we vanish or are still there, staring slack-jawed at each other and the clock)
<DanteE> (So, that's what my spleen looks like!)
<Kite> "Hmmm. Yes. Mythicky."

  • Kite looks around.

<Random_Nerd> The grinding teeth of the Time Binder skitter across your skin. It's almost ticklish.
<Random_Nerd> You stand inside the right eye of a man whose lower lip touches the earth and whose upper lip touches the sky.
<Random_Nerd> The Rightfulness Emblem is somewhat ill, but is healing.
<Random_Nerd> (The orc attacks! Roll initiative!)
<DanteE> (I knew we needed my sword...)
<Kite> (I flee!)
<Brian> (I create a dozen orc clones!)
<Brian> (... wait.)
<Random_Nerd> What do you do, and what do you think about?
<DanteE> Do we recognize the man?
<Theresa> I try to think about our purpose in travelling.
<Random_Nerd> Not from inside his right eye you don't.
<Random_Nerd> The Goat of Impropriety mates with the Undine of Adoration. Messily.
<Ftisk> I don't think of our naughty bits, I don't think of your naughty bits ... Doooh!"
<DanteE> (Did we wind up in Ftisk's fever dreams?)
<Brian> "Um. Guys? What are we doing, and where are we going?"
<Kite> Kite thinks that he would much prefer the Time Binder's teeth be touching his feathers and not his skin.
<Random_Nerd> The Goat then tears himself into a million Irreverences, like hairy tadpoles.
<Brian> "... I don't kinda want to know why the world decided here was the right place. It's kind of weird."
<DanteE> "For starters, let's stay together. Maybe we should hold hands?"
<Theresa> (Ftisk doesn't have hands.)
<Brian> "Rope?"
<DanteE> "Probably because we started in the clock."
<Brian> "Like in those D&D games Kite's always playing?"
<Random_Nerd> Dante's idea about hands flutters around, like a butterfly made of two human hands, flapping.
<Ftisk> (Ftisk have manipulators! 3 each side)
<DanteE> "Did anybody bring rope?"
<Kite> "What?"
<Kite> "Why would we need rope?"
<DanteE> "maybe a ten-foot pole as well?"
<Random_Nerd> The goatspawn cluster around Brian, curious.

  • Theresa will create a Line of Thought to connect everyone.

<DanteE> (We can all fly here, right?)
<Random_Nerd> (You can't tell if you're flying.)
<Theresa> She thinks about how we are all connected to each other, through bonds of Family and friendship.
<Random_Nerd> The Obligatories chafe, but are warm, like bacon fresh out of the clothes dryer.
<DanteE> (Remind me never to eat at your place. :) )
<Theresa> (We had good bacon last night.)
<Random_Nerd> (Admit it, it /would/ chafe.)
<Theresa> (You'd have bacon all over your dryer.)
<Brian> (... bacon out of the clothes drier?)
<Brian> (Is it hot enough to cook bacon?)
<Theresa> "There."
<DanteE> (Are we connected now?)

  • Ftisk jump back on T. shoulder

<Random_Nerd> (Yes. By the chafing bacon.)
<Kite> (We always were. You just weren't thinking about it.)
<Random_Nerd> (Which links to the muscles in your arms and legs, as bacon will.)
<DanteE> "Theresa, see if you can float."
<Theresa> "Which direction is up?"
<Kite> "Amateurs."
<DanteE> "I'd guess away from the nose..."

  • Kite flies out of the eye.

<Brian> "Pick a direction?"
<DanteE> "Whoa, wait for us!"

  • Theresa is yoinked by Kite!
  • DanteE flies after Kite
  • Brian gets pulled along for the ride
  • DanteE looks back at the face once we're some distance away

<Random_Nerd> Theresa, do you head toward the goat, the swan, the turtle, or the elephant?
<DanteE> (Let's see, Brian, Theresa and Carrie can't fly in 'RL', right?)
<Theresa> (Correct.)
<Random_Nerd> (Err, Kite.)
<DanteE> Do I recognize the face?
<Kite> Unless someone suggests something different, Kite flies toward the swan.
<Theresa> (I have no idea what each of them symbolizes, so pilot's pick.)
<DanteE> "Kite, do you know which way you're going?"
<Kite> "That way!"
<Random_Nerd> The face looks a bit like Ymir, a bit like King John, and a bit like Kudzu.
<Theresa> (Heh.  :) )
<DanteE> (Except for the really stretched lips, I presume.)
<Random_Nerd> (The lips aren't stretched. They're just huge.)
<Random_Nerd> (And you can't really get a good look at the face, because most of it extends way past the sky.)
<Random_Nerd> (In the same way that you can't see what Earth looks like from a hillside.)
<Theresa> (Which explains the Ymir part.)
<DanteE> Any indication that we're going back in time?
<Random_Nerd> What makes you think you are?
<Theresa> (We haven't yet. We haven't spent the miracle points.)
<Random_Nerd> The Swan symbolizes fidelity, purity, and holiness.
<DanteE> That's kinda where we intend to go...
<Theresa> (We moved to Mythic Amyra. Now we have to move back in time/space.)
<Random_Nerd> As you move toward it, the world aligns accordingly. The light grows brighter, and more golden.
<Random_Nerd> The improprieties that still follow become more akin to faceless kittens.
<Random_Nerd> Their hair grows smoother, softer, not stiff and wirey.
<Theresa> (We need a connection to Breach Day and the Wall. Just knowing Oph. isn't enough.)
<Kite> (Personally, I think the Elephant or Turtle are better choices. But Kite thinks the Swan is the superior choice.)
<Theresa> (Can we use Conrad in Ftisk?)
<Ftisk> (can we?)
<Random_Nerd> (How?)
<Kite> (Because....mammals! Ugh!)
<Brian> (sorry, I zoned out for a bit there. Back in my own brains :))
<Random_Nerd> (Uh... Kite... turtles aren't mammals.)
<Random_Nerd> (Honest.)
<Theresa> (He's a warmain. We're focusing on where warmains came through the Wall during Breach Day.)
<Kite> (Shush! Kite is a bird!)
<Random_Nerd> (Warmblood. Mammal-kin.)
<Kite> (Everything else is fish or mammals to him!)
<Random_Nerd> (I mean, there are even mammals that fly.)
<Random_Nerd> (Mythic Turtle wonders what you mammals are all on about.)
<DanteE> (... did we leave the map on the kitchen table?)
<Random_Nerd> From this angle, the sky-breaking giant face looks more like a lion's head.
<Theresa> (It's hard getting around to the spirit world.)
<Random_Nerd> (Hey, I /told/ you that it was hard to navigate here without a specific connection or meaning to focus on.)
<Random_Nerd> (What does the thing you want to find /mean/? And what does it have to do with /you/?)
<Theresa> (We're part of Kudzu. Kudzu's place was supposed to be at the Wall that day. He was not. Oph was. We know Oph. Warmains came through. Conrad the Warmain is part of Ftisk.)
<Theresa> (Frappe together, serve with whipped cream.)
<DanteE> (Also, Kudzu had that flashback on that day... in fact, so did T and me.)
<Ftisk> (But does Conrad came that day through the wall?)
<Random_Nerd> (So, what are you looking for?)
<Theresa> (It has to do with us because we are a Wildlord's and it messed with Wildlords. Because they attacked where our lord was supposed to be. Because we need info to give at the meeting.)
<Random_Nerd> (The landscape responds to things like that.)
<Ftisk> (I think the flashback is a better lead)
<Random_Nerd> Remember.
<DanteE> "OK, hold it."
<Random_Nerd> Properties of the Deep
<Random_Nerd> Mythic
<Random_Nerd> ŠŠ Its locations are ambiguous;
<Random_Nerd> ŠŠ Its boundaries are ambiguous;
<Random_Nerd> ŠŠ It is always devouring itself;
<Random_Nerd> ŠŠ It is always mating with itself;
<Random_Nerd> ŠŠ Its particulars have free will;
<Random_Nerd> ŠŠ Attention partially differentiates a
<Random_Nerd> thing from its environment.
<DanteE> "Kite, stop."
<Random_Nerd> The grasping hand envelops you.
<Brian> (What exactly were our flashbacks from the time?)

  • Theresa looks at the hand.
  • Kite lands

<DanteE> (uh, what hand?)
<Random_Nerd> The hand.
<Random_Nerd> That envelops you.
<Kite> (The grasping one)
<Random_Nerd> That one.

  • Ftisk add dirt under the grasping hand's fingernails

<DanteE> (Oh, from 'hold it'... duh.)
<Random_Nerd> Dante, something itches in your left hand.

  • DanteE opens his hand...

<Random_Nerd> The enveloping hand vanishes.
<Random_Nerd> As something small and shining falls from your grasp.
<DanteE> what is it?
<Random_Nerd> You guys, presumably.
<Random_Nerd> Doesn't matter now. It's gone.
<Ftisk> (is Dante's hand dirtier?)
<DanteE> "I'll try to remember that 'flashback' I had..."
<Random_Nerd> What's dirt?
<Theresa> (Chaos and Old Night. That was my flashback.)

  • DanteE thinks about the sensation of wanting a Creation-material crown

<Ftisk> (I typed before: Ftisk add dirt under the grasping hand's fingernails)
<Random_Nerd> Dirt does not belong to the direction of the Swan.
<Random_Nerd> It is not a meaningful concept in this alignment.
<Ftisk> oh, ok

  • Theresa tries focusing on the term 'Chaos and Old Night.'

<Random_Nerd> Once upon a time, there was nothing... formed. There was matter, potential, but not shape. Meaning.

  • Ftisk look around

<Random_Nerd> You are on the other side. All is shape and meaning. Shapes change to other shapes, but not to no shapes.
<DanteE> (That to me or T?)
<Random_Nerd> Yep. Probably.
<Random_Nerd> Crowns are a symbol.
<Random_Nerd> They represent authority, achievement.
<DanteE> ...control...

  • Ftisk think of the breakday, were would Ophaniel be that day?

<Random_Nerd> Among Nobles, crowns denote authority of various kinds.
<Theresa> (True, we could try using Ftisk's love for Oph.)
<DanteE> (Kudzu is an exiled Ex summoner?)
<Ftisk> (nod nod to T.)
<DanteE> (Hello?)
<Brian> (still here.)
<Brian> (Brian's letting himself be pulled along on this ride)
<Theresa> (RN's typing.)
<Ftisk> (waiting on RN reply)
<Random_Nerd> (Yes?)
<DanteE> (Nobody think of the Sta-Puft Marshmallow Man.)
<Random_Nerd> You know that, on that day, Ophaniel is at the Wall.
<Random_Nerd> But that isn't... exactly a /where/ in the conventional sense.
<Ftisk> I want to reach her, go to the wall to her
<Ftisk> aren't there feelings, tinglings sensactions/feelings that I can follow?
<Random_Nerd> Crowns denote mastery, not of the self, but of what is separate from the self.
<Random_Nerd> A Duke wears the crown of strawberry leaves and gold.
<Random_Nerd> A Sovereign Beyond wears the crown of glory and unworth.
<Random_Nerd> Ftisk, when you seek your love of Ophaniel, do you seek it in the direction of the Swan or the Goat?
<Ftisk> Goat!
<DanteE> (I'm thinking goat.)
<Random_Nerd> The world aligns again.
<Random_Nerd> The light grows darker, redder. The air becomes redolent of musk.
<Ftisk> cool.
<Random_Nerd> The kittens once more grow darker, scraggly, thicker hair. Horns curl from their faceless heads.
<Theresa> (And my thoughts of Chaos and Old Night sound like the Wall to me.)
<Random_Nerd> The sky is filled with spheres turning within spheres. Like the Ptolomaic universe, epicycles within epicycles.
<Random_Nerd> A thousand nested spheres of crystal and fire, turning on immense gears.
<Theresa> (Oph was more rings of metal, right?)
<Random_Nerd> A voice echos from the sky. "Ftisk, how I love you! How I need you!"
<Kite> "Really?"

  • DanteE looks at Theresa...
  • Ftisk dart to that voice "Boys Ophanield is calling me! She love meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

<Theresa> (Do we recognize the voice?)
<Random_Nerd> The crown of ariya adharma, the mark of the Sovereign Beyond, marks a boundary.
<Random_Nerd> Beyond that boundary, those who die will not return to Creation. They will pass outside, and join with their fetch in deathless eternity.
<Theresa> (Canada.)
<Random_Nerd> To pass beyond that, one must become something stranger, alien to their former nature.
<Ftisk> (the spirits is after the boundary!)
<Random_Nerd> The voice sounds /somewhat/ like Ophaniel.
<Random_Nerd> The fire of the spheres glows with smoky red light.
<Ftisk> Is enough for me to follow to the boundary and beyond
<Random_Nerd> Somewhat like Ophaniel, but at least as much like someone else you know.
<Random_Nerd> Another voice you can't quite place.
<Theresa> (What kind of Noble/Imperator (besides Ftisk) uses the L word openly?)
<Random_Nerd> As you pass toward the spheres, the massive celestial orrey seems to grow larger and larger, yet pull further away.
<Ftisk> (Entropy?)
<Random_Nerd> "How I love you! How I need you!"
<DanteE> (Imperators would, it's Nobles who might not)
<Random_Nerd> (And on the word "Love", you recognize the other voice it sounds like. It sounds like Ftisk.)
<DanteE> (Which means it's Ftisk's-version-of-Oph)
<Theresa> (I don't wanna watch Ftisk mate with himself! That's for YouTube.)
<Ftisk> (Me deceiving myself ... is not the weirdest thing)
<Ftisk> (But I wanna see Ftisk slash Ftisk!)
<Random_Nerd> "Come be with me! Stay with me forever, my love!"
<Brian> "Ftisk, I think that's your love for Ophaniel. Or possibly your desire."
<Random_Nerd> The gears within gears, the great spiral of the starry spheres, made of reddish light, starts to look like a shell.
<Random_Nerd> "None will understand you like I."

  • Ftisk fly like an arrow's dar... "Wait"

<Ftisk> "What do you mean Brian?"
<Brian> "Ophaniel wouldn't /say/ Love."
<DanteE> to T: "I don't think we can rely on Ftisk's 'image' of Ophaniel, it'd lead us to him, not her. It."
<Ftisk> "Uhm......"
<Theresa> "Try a different animal?"
<DanteE> "You getting anywhere with your 'flashback'?"
<Ftisk> "Well, uhm, let's try Swan then"
<Random_Nerd> Giant Sky-Scraping Ftisk: "Love! LOOOOOVE!"
<Ftisk> toGianr: "shush scam"
<Random_Nerd> (Mind if we call it a night here?)
<Brian> (yes please :))
<DanteE> (OK by me...)
<Ftisk> (ok)
<Theresa> (I think it might be for the best. The snail that yelled Love at the top of the Sky is getting me...)
<Kite> (Let's)\
<Ftisk> (RN, you temped me, this round to have Ftisk run nevertheless to the voice... next best thing is a think when Oph out of the reachable prizes)
<DanteE> (Although... if that's Ftisk, that would imply that we can get to ourselves this way.
<Random_Nerd> ________________STOP_________________
<DanteE> (Which may mean we could locate the flashback memories)
<DanteE> I suspect I'm missing a big, obvious clue, aren't I.
=-= Theresa is now known as BethE
=-= Brian is now known as lazarus
<Ftisk> (that reasoning have leg Dante)
=-= DanteE is now known as Knockwood
=-= YOU are now known as Angelo
<Random_Nerd> It's not that there's an obvious specific path there.
<Random_Nerd> It's just that the mythic world is tricky.
=-= Kite is now known as Verithe
<Random_Nerd> Especially the deep mythic.
<BethE> I think that Theresa's flashback is the Wall. But I'm not sure how to make that into a path and it still doesn't get us at the right time.
<lazarus> this is kinda neat.
<Random_Nerd> It is organized on principles of relation and perception, not of space and time.
<lazarus> I like.
<lazarus> but. I gotta go to bed.
<Knockwood> RN's throwing me hints about what crowns mean...
<Knockwood> g'night laz
|<-- lazarus has left irc.magicstar.net (Disintegrated: When the chips are down, the buffalo is empty)
<Random_Nerd> All that material is from various Nobilis books.
<Verithe> So, we could, in theory, trace a path to where we want to go by following things we perceive as related?
<Random_Nerd> Yes.
<Random_Nerd> That's how you would find your way here.
<Knockwood> There’s stuff we know is related, like the attack on Jaris and the appearance of Gaius
<Random_Nerd> But that's a goal. It's not related to where you are right now.
<Random_Nerd> So you need connections. A path.
<Random_Nerd> How is the attack on Jaris like Ftisk's dream of Ophaniel?
<BethE> We are connected to Kudzu. Kudzu is connected to Oph. Oph is connected to the Wall. It's getting the right _time_ that's the thing, because she's been on Wall duty before.
<Random_Nerd> So, a side question. What did you expect the deep mythic to be like?
<Verithe> Brick?
<Random_Nerd> Brick brick?
<Verithe> Brick! Brick Brick!
<BethE> I agree with the eminent scholar.
<Angelo> I expect it to be like a snowball with many flecks each one a lil "world" representing one -stuff-
<Knockwood> maybe not as acid-trippy, but thinking about it, it fits. :)
<Angelo> yeah, I like RN version
<Angelo> is more continuous
<Verithe> *nod*
<Random_Nerd> Oh, this reminds me of something.
<Random_Nerd> http://www. smbc-comics. com/?id=3335#comic
<Knockwood> debating whether we need to go back and actually bring a physical connection...
<Verithe> We could still use Ftisk's love for Ophaniel to get back in time to the Wall. We just have to find the right connections.
<Angelo> -The snail in the sky shouting love- you mean?
<Knockwood> We need to find the Ophaniel that's trying to rebuff/ignore Ftisk. :)
<Verithe> Yeah
<Random_Nerd> The question then becomes, what parts of how Ftisk feels about Ophaniel are really about her, and what parts are really about him?
<Random_Nerd> And on that question, I leave!
<Verithe> Take care!

  • Random_Nerd swirls his cape dramatically!

Chapter 37
