Background

Orifushi Mafuyu is a shy and quiet girl who likes reading. Mafuyu lives with her sister Orifushi Minatsu and her mother Orifushi Suzuran. Minatsu’s and Mafuyu’s geijin father, David Seyfried went back to…whatever foreign country he came from a while ago. Suzuran has a job, and she brings back just enough money to pay for the rent and the school. The Orifushi family doesn’t have much, but they have each other, and that’s a lot. If it’s any consolation, Mafuyu is extremely smart and capable of obtaining good grades with little effort. Her sister, Minatsu, is more talented in the athletics, but the two girls get along well.

Mafuyu inherited her striking look from her attractive geijin father. She has dolly blue eyes and creamy white skin not commonly seen on Japanese girls, and she ties a giant ribbon on top of her long, platinum blonde hair. All these exotic appearance traits combined with a meek personality make Mafuyu incredibly popular among boys, a fact that constantly embarrasses and baffles the shy Mafuyu. The rumors about Mafuyu being a lesbian doesn’t really help either…some boys just try even harder. Minatsu, on the other hand, looks more like a Japanese girl with exotic facial features, but a bishojo still.

Unbeknown to most Mafuyu fans, however, is the fact that she’s a serious case of video game junkie. Gal games, FPS, MMO, you name it, and she plays it. Being a hardcore player like Mafuyu isn’t cheep, though. Her mother has no idea how much Mafuyu’s “toys” cost, and she doesn’t really have enough time and energy to care. Minatsu, on the other hand, cares the world for her little sister, and she had been suspicious about how her little sister afford all the latest consoles for quite a while now. Surely Mafuyu couldn’t have afford everything with the little pocket money their mother give them…

In fact, Mafuyu gets more pocket money than Minatsu. While her mother and sister both presume that David simply left Japan, only Mafuyu knows that he didn’t. David is now working at another part of Japan. Probably because of Mafuyu’s strikingly geijin appearance, David always prefers Mafuyu to Minatsu, and now he travels to the town Mafuyu lives to visit her once every month, bringing his little girl extra pocket money in the due process. These “secret dates” with her father are the happiest time in Mafuyu’s live. Not surprisingly, David always calls his daughter with the Western name he gave her - Chloe Seyfried.

Relationships

Takata Natsumi: Mafuyu admires Natsumi for her beauty and popularity, but she keeps her distance because she’s scared of Natsumi’s personality.

Hikugawa-sensei: Mafuyu once passed out from sunstroke, and it was Hikugawa-sensei who carried Mafuyu to the hospital. Mafuyu is grateful ever since.

Mitsuwa-sensei: Mafuyu’s body is weak, so she ends up in the nurse’s office often, and had since became friends with Mitsuwa-sensei.

Matsumoto Taro: Mafuyu’s best friend. Mafuyu does many of the calculation for his rockets. Whether they’re lover or not is everyone’s guesses.

Power-Up

Mafuyu realized that her body had changed. She'd grown cat ears, for example. Whiskers. A tail. A light coating of brown, mottled fur. Claws retracted in her fingers. And yet... that was minor, compared to the changes inside.

She could feel the earth, and where everyone tread. Her power sank into the earth all around her, and penetrated it, and drew on it... the power of water in the earth, the power of wetness and decay and suction. The power of the swamp.
