Appearance: Jack Deveroux is an extraordinarilly handsome man, as befitting his former leading man status. However, he must keep the left side of his face perpetually covered to disguise the nightmarish burns that cover it.

Jack also has a number of metallic devices built around his left leg to allow normal motion since it's twisted. Oddly, this results in him always crouching and seemingly in 'springing' poise' when he's not standing staight. It does not impede him in a fight since he's trained himself to avoid it.

Powers: The Studio Phantom has mastered light technology to be able to craft incredibly powerful protective force fields around himself and shoot energy blasts from his cane. He is also able to use his rings and belt to generate 'hard-light' constructs that appear as anything from dinosaurs to famous movie monsters. He is also capable of generating soft light illusions as well. Likewise, the Studio Phantom can create sound for these mindless creations. He is also a master fencer and boxer with a taste for the theatrical (ala Eroll Flynn).

The Silver Scream, ghost that she is, is not bound by the Studio Phantom's technological limitations as she is a creature of the supernatural. While they share a supernatural bond, the Phantom can call upon her powers to bring his creations to genuine physical life. At that point, he has no control over his creations as they become the characters they are.

History: Jack Deveroux was born to Freedomwood. A third generation actor, he got his start in the special effects business and stunt work. Jack was a brilliant engineer with an exceptional mastery of hard light holographics and how to produce effects that actors could play off of. A Renassiance man, his love of movies was always his chief guiding force and they were his obsession. Jack would spend most of his free time, when not exercising or working on a project, cloistered away in his private movie theatre in order to watch classic films produced in the Golden Age of Freedomwood.

Jack's career as a thesbian took off to soaring heights when he was selected to be the leading man in the popular television series Mark and Laurie: The New Adventures of the Centurion. It was during this time that Jack started to fall in love with his co-star, Wendy Mason. The two of them shared a fairy tale romance and were soon married just as the show finished wrapping up. It was then that Jack was approached by Constantine Urallos with a life-time contract offer. The only terms were that Jack also turn over his hard-light system for the studios use.

Jack readilly agreed and soon found himself in a number of important Mirrormax prodicutions. Things were continuing rather well until Jack started to notice that things were remarkably secretive around the use of his technology. Jack was repeatedly stone walled when he enquired about what the laboratories were using it and became outright insulted when they started moving him away from Freedomwood productions to less important roles because of it.

Jack finally deduced something was seriously wrong when the villainous Doctor Bright debuted with his new powers and managed to single handedly manhandle the entire Freedom League before making off with nearly a hundred million dollars in cash. Doctor Bright was wielding his technology and the only way that could have come was through Delphic Industries. Jack decided to break in then and find out what was really going on. Taking this as a personal insult; Constantine promptly had Jack gassed and then placed in his movie theatre before blowing the entire place up.

Jack's extra thick walls managed to protect him but buried him alive as he subsisted in the house's bomb shelter for the better part of a year until he crawled out into the studio. There, he found that his wife had remarried and Constantine Urallos had already declared his death the result of the man's poor technological care. Jack's anger and hatred were such that he physically assaulted Constantine's secretary and strangled her to death. This resulted in him attracting the attention of Freedomwood's resident ghost, the Silver Scream.

Jack communed with the Silver Scream for some time, living under his house and using his holographic generators (plus his mastery of makeup and acting talents) to steal in and out of the Delphic Studios whenever he wished. The twisted ghost fed on his anger and despair while he found his hatred nurtured by her own feelings of inadequacy and loss. The two thus have vowed to bring an end to Constantine Urallos and all those who work for him!

Neither realize that their respective lives are being manipulated by Loki back in Asgard.
