Here's a thought: How about "Parsing" as a replacement for either the "Divination" scool or for the term "scrying"? The latter seems to work better per [http://www.sharpened.net/glossary/definition.php?parse this definition of the term].

Actually, the Divination school should be renamed Parsing, and the Scrying sub-school should be renamed Scanning.

I'm wondering whether it mightn't be a better idea to just drop alignments altogether. I confess that I'm not fond of alignments in ''Virtual'' as a matter of taste, but they don't seem to fit either; there's no magical / metaphysical reinforcement of Law, Chaos, Good or Evil in Program Space.

Ultimately, I think we'd just wind up losing a few abjuration spells, mainly the alignment-based Circles of Protection.

Project Want List[edit]

  • New, Virtualised names for the magic schools and subschools.
  • A solution to the issue of Alignments and Magic as Virtual doesn't appear to feature Alignments.

Parsing?[edit]

Here's a thought: How about "Parsing" as a replacement for either the "Divination" scool or for the term "scrying"? The latter seems to work better per this definition of the term.

Actually, the Divination school should be renamed Parsing, and the Scrying sub-school should be renamed Scanning.

Alignment Conversion[edit]

Quick Idea: Spells Requiring Lawful and Neutral Alignments are System Spells, Chaotic and Neutral are Razor, and all Spells are Rogue. Good/Evil/Neutral don't matter.

Just an idea that popped into my mind. --Igtenio 09:54, 18 May 2005 (PDT)

Ultimately, I think we'd just wind up losing a few abjuration spells, mainly the alignment-based Circles of Protection.
