Floating between the Bordermarches and the Middlemarches, between the North and the East, there is a curious collection of islands in the sky, a Freehold of the Raksha beholden to no major Court. There, among the many and varied flying islands, the Raksha of the Freehold dance, mine, hunt, play and shape for their amusement. Each island can be an oasis of one's own imagination, a singular place where one's dreams (or nightmares) can come true. Only the largest island is under the protection of the Sky King and his Ruling Ring. Though they claim all of the skylands within their territory they leave them to be shaped and altered by the whims of the Nobles. Only on the massive central island is kept stable, an enormous tower of ice, feathersteel, silver and sapphires overlooking the Sky King's domain.

Most of the commoners here don Assumptions of Air or of birds or other flying creatures. This is not a solid rule though; the personal retinues of Nobles vary greatly, and the Sky King considers individuality the most important trait a Raksha can espouse. So there are many unique and varied creatures that live here, treasured and marveled at because of their uniqueness. The Entertainers sing songs of Raksha who made lasting names for themselves, the Workers craft creative works of art, each trying to outdo each other. The Diplomats are pawns in the chess games of the King, Queen and Pope of Chaos, while the Warriors strut and prepare for a crusade against Creation that may never come.

The Freehold consists of 30 Waypoints. 9 of those waypoints, in the very center of the Freehold, make up the nearly continent-sized central island. There lay the Throne Room, the Fountainhead, the Stronghold, the Glory, and the Arcane Redoubt of the Freehold. Floating nearby, on the second largest island in the chain, is the four waypoint large domain of the Church of Balor, led by the Unquestioned One, and his legion of commoner parishioners, priests and paladins. The other 17 waypoints in the Chancel make up smaller islands, or clusters of even smaller islands. The distance journeys between them are usually accomplished by riding flying beasts, growing wings on your own, or finding the magical invisible ziplines that connected each island in ages long past. These islands alter themselves frequently.

For now the Island is in the Middlemarches near the North-East tip of the map of Creation.
