=Cort Masterson=

== Background ==

Cort Masterson is a true son of Cale's World. He comes from a family which was well-off before the Imperium came, and grew quickly prosperous afterwards. Many of his relatives have secured honorable positions in the Imperium's great administration network. Cort himself was given the opportunity to train with the Adeptus Administratum. But it was not to be for Cort - after only a few years with the Administratum, he was tapped for a more 'noble' duty and was shipped off to train with what was destined to become the Calean 1st Rifles. This was a shattering blow to Cort, who had already begun planning a life of relative ease, safely ensconced behind stacks of paperwork for the remainder of his days.

But he thrived with the 1st Rifles. His knowledge of the inner workings of the Adeptus Administratum meant that he knew how to navigate the complex logistical network of the Departmento Munitorium, and his bunkmates found themselves in a steady supply of lho-sticks and high-provender rations. And while many other members of the 1st Rifles found the presence of the film crews and propagandists offputting or disturbing, Cort has seen only opportunities. The Departmento Munitorium, for whatever reason, has placed a high priority on the safety and well-being of those film crews, and that has meant extra supply lines, which Cort has been happy to take advantage of.

Cort can often be found in his "office," which is a makeshift room created from a careful arrangement of supply crates, stacked in such a way as to create a little room free from prying eyes. This is where he keeps the items he has requisitioned or bartered for.

Cort's comrade is a gloomy man named Jace Fortuna. Jace is convinced that the entire regiment will be wiped out in their first off-world engagement, and has already sent letters to his family members with funerary instructions. But Jace still enjoys lho and alcohol, and so the two have struck up a mutually beneficial friendship.

== Background ==

Background: In a world relatively new to the Imperial Truth, it is vitally important that the Adeptus Ministorum maintains a strong grip on the collective consciousness. A hundred years is but an eyeblink in the life of the Imperium, and a world of this value must be shepherded to the welcoming arms of the Ecclesiarchy. Particularly fervent adherents to the truth on Cale's Landing are quickly identified, trained and then thrust forward as living examples of the Emperor's Will. In the case of Godwinne Ershire, the formation of the 1st Cale Rifles demanded priests to insure proper adherence to the expectations of the Ministorum in their role as living propaganda. However, whatever his education, the pragmatic nature of all Calean's all but insures he will find himself in the midst of a inevitable culture clash between his people and his superiors.

This is only further highlighted by his outspoken support for abhumans and their greater integration into Imperial society. Ogryns, in particular, after seeing a vanguard of them released in a fruitless charge on a fortified position by an uncaring general. Despite their undeniably simplistic nature, the auxiliaries attached to the 1st Cale Rifles have begun to call him a "Little 'Un" behind his back, and he, in turn, cares for them as if they were themselves Calean.

=Broderick "Brody" Ferrandino=

== Background ==

Broderick Ferrandino (Brody to his squad-mates) is in many ways the typical guard recruit - he believes the Imperial Creed, he thinks the Guard is an opportunity for adventure and bettering himself, and he tries to do what's right. Never the squeaky wheel, always a crisp salute and big grin on his face, he's a cheerful sight around base.

At the same time, Brody is something of an odd duck. His ability to go with the flow and avoid drama completely melts away when combat starts - he's drawn to the limelight, always eager to be on camera and showing off for "His fans back home." He's a boisterous showboat when the vid-corders start rolling, and never hesitates to throw a wink back at the camera before running over the top of a dugout, or pause to strike a pose before planting the kill-shot on an enemy armored vehicle. He's closest to his squad-mate Letty "Lefty" Crissinger, and they make an odd pair around base - her usual somber, withdrawn personality a stark contrast to Brody's larger than life enthusiasm. Oddly enough, he seems to be the only person Lefty can tolerate for any stretch of time. Though their personalities might appear to be at odds with one another, the two work in perfect tandem whether they're training at the base fitness center or laying down fusillades on the front lines.

-The sniper rifle has the Accurate quality, which does a couple things. First, it gives an extra +10 when you use the Aim action. Second, when you aim with an Accurate weapon and fire a single shot, you get an extra 1d10 damage for every two degrees of success on the test, up to 2d10 extra damage.
