Non-Player Characters[edit]

  • The Scarnettis, a relatively new noble family who has a reputation for using shady and/or outright illegal means to gain power. Their leader, Gradon Scarnetti, reportedly wants to use the Heart of the Sea to take over the city.
  • Mother Flytongue, a Sczarni crime boss who hired the party to retrieve the Heart of the Sea. Now has a price on the party's heads, as we have failed to give it to her.
  • The Night Scales, the largest criminal syndicate in the city. They also appear to want to get their hands on the Heart of the Sea. Why is not yet clear.
  • Felix, an alchemist.
  • Jerak, Felix's son.
  • Hermea, another alchemist with ties to Mother Flytongue.
  • The Actor, an actor with ties to the Rose and the Rake Theater. Originally employed by the Night Scales to purchase the Heart of the Sea from the party. Later ambushed by the Night Scales. Currently (as far as the party is aware) in possession of the Heart of the Sea and protected by mercenaries from the Blood of Gorum.
  • The Blood of Gorum, high-end mercenary guild allegedly hired by the Night Scales to protect the Actor.

Potted Plot So Far[edit]

  • The five of you just successfully completed the theft of the Heart of the Sea, a silver necklace bearing as its centerpiece an exquisite blue diamond. You liberated the Heart from Lord Varin Jainspire, a Chelaxian noble who was recently forced to relocate to Varisia. You were hired to steal the Heart by a woman known to you as Mother, who contacted you through intermediaries and offered 1000 gold pieces for the successful return of the Heart to her. You are to meet her in The Friendly Merchant, a tavern located in the city of Magnimar. She will be wearing a white apron.
  • Somehow, the Night Scales got wind of this plan and hired an actress to dress up as the Mother.
  • Livia, noticing the actress' make-up, attacked the fake Mother with her dagger. A fight ensued involving the party, fake Mother's guards and a large number of Night-Scales stationed around the room.
  • The fake mother promised the party 2000gp to get her out alive and give her the Heart of the Sea.
  • The real Mother Flytongue put a price on the party's heads for failing to get her the Heart of the Sea.
  • The party set out trying to find the Actor to explain what happened.
  • Stumbling across Felix and his son Jerak in a known hide-out of the Actor, the party agreed to help them lie low in Flem's hide-out in exchange for information.
  • Felix told us of an alchemist named Hermea who may have the information the party require.
  • Meeting her, the party agreed to allow Hermea to take a sample of Toryc's blood, to use illegitimately amongst gladiator fights, in order to get the required information.
  • After the bloodletting was complete, Hermea's wife was attacked and badly wounded by a pair of hired thugs, sent by the Scarnettis. One of the thugs was knocked out and left for Hermea to deal with, the other fled but was caught and killed after a brief chase.
