Timeline of Winterweir

Alacarn Calender

The Calender is based on the foundation of the Alacarn Empire where nearly all modern records date back to. Almost everything before is superstition, myth, and legend.

Pre-History

65,000,000 years ago - The Terra'ssar civilization on Earth is destroyed by an asteroid and the survivors use their understanding of warp travel to heard the survivors into space craft to seek a new world.

10,000,000 - The Terra'ssar settle on Teth-Ammon after coming out of cryogenic slumber after numerous other worlds are sought. The world is terraformed and many species are brought to it and experimented on.

1,000,000 - The Terra'ssar's vast interstellar Empire is destroyed in civil wars. The survivors retreat to Teth-Ammon. All of this is told in Mythology that places the idea of the Creator Race as beings cast down from the Heavens as former servants of the gods.

50,000 - The Terra'ssar civilization, only a pale shadow of its former self, is overthrown by revolting mortals. These mortals ascend to become the Celestials, Lilin, or become modern mortals.

10,000 - The Lilin once rule the whole of Alacarn but are destroyed by the Celestials working with the hated Dragons. They have never forgot their Queen, Tiamate, who they worship as a goddess.

Modern History

0- Alacarn the Conqueror creates the Alacarn Empire.

35 - Alacarn dies in a Trow ambush. Her niece, Kalinka, takes over and rules extraordinarily justly for nearly a century.

1,081- Malaxas falls from grace and leads a revolt against the mortal world to conquer it.

1,200 - The Dread Cataclysm destroys most of Alacarn when Malaxas the Fallen Celestial is banished from the world, creating the Netherdeep.

1,210 - The Den of Netherdeep creatures over Alfein is defeated and Alfein is founded.

1,285 - refugees from the vestigial Empire of Alacarn (The Turlon Empire) under Venetia the Just found the Winterweir nation by conquering the Giants and Valken who live there. Alfein is made into its capital.

1,703 - Winterweir is invaded by its neighbor to the South, Almania. The War of Iron is fought. In the end, Winterweir is so badly damaged that when it finally reaches, Amania, it razes the country to the ground.

1,710 - The Amanians overthrow their monarchs and establish a Free Republic. The Free Republic is a totalitarian state that declares its enimity to Winterweir.

1,711 - The Mad King Hrothbert, flush from defeating Amania, spends Winterweir's vast war spoils to build up Amania and drives the Kingdom deep in debt.

1,750 - King Hrothbert finishes a campaign of brutal conquest against petty kingdoms all along Winterweir's borders. Some suggest he wages a campaign of extermination against non-humans. He then suffers a brain disorder that paralyzes him almost completely.

Parliament nearly takes over at this time and the sudden changes are clear when slavery is outlawed, head taxes on urban dwelling nonhumans are abolished, and countless prisoners are freed. Also, the Court of the Moon Chamber' is abolished as is the Sstosstorpen, the Old King's magical secret police.

1,758 - King Hrothbert dies of a heart attack after eight years of being bedriiden. His brother, Admiral Darvis, is lost at sea nearly simultaneously, and thus Princess Alusan is made Queen.

1,760 - Present day.
