Tobias has been a resident of Chicago all his life, born and raised. Back before the Change came upon him he was fairly tame in outlook, which is a large part of why he stayed in the city and didn’t go anywhere. In his more human life, he never really left academia. He worked odd jobs for a while, but it was an environment he knew and it kept tugging him back, to the point where he threw his arms up and realized it was where he wanted to be. To that end he started a course that would get him what he needed to dive into a teaching career.
It was part time for a while, low pay, but he finally landed a full time in history at a small college two years ago. However, it wasn’t too long after that that his First Change hit, with all the attendant problems.
For a while, his career was in very real danger of being lost, and while he held onto it and later got things in a semblance of balance, that near loss still gnaws at him from time to time.
