Some folks say it started with a plague. Others blame science or a sadistic and spiteful God. A few even argue that ''mutants and zombies'' are simply part of the natural evolution of life and the beginning of the age of posthumanism. The groaning hoards were wiped out years ago, but there are constant rumors of new mutations, particularly clever ghouls (by walking dead standards) or just plain tough critters who are still out there waiting in the shadows. The ''Quislings'' are even more terrifying than the undead. There have always been cannibals who don't consider some other people properly human, but the Quislings are traitors to our species preying on any humans except their own kind. Perhaps they were driven mad by the violent changes and horrors they've seen, or perhaps there have always been people who are unstable and waiting for something to trigger their transformation.
