Education

Education (Edu) is not traditionally used in Trinity. However, it can be used in games or campaigns in which the existence of inequal education systems bears some importance.

Unlike traditional ability scores, Education is modified based upon a combination of region and race, rather than just race. In addition, a character can pay money to have an increased Education score, representing having gone to an institute of higher education.

Education is Used for...

Obligatory

  • Knowledge Skills. All characters use their Education modifier for all Knowledge skills.
  • Languages Known. A character uses his Education modifier, rather than his Intelligence modifier, to determine his bonus languages known.
  • Class Skills. If the character's Education modifier is negative, the character chooses a number of class skills from his class skill list; these skills are now cross-class skills. If the character's Education modifier is positive, the charcter chooses a number of skills; these are now class skills for the character's class. Each time the character multiclasses, the character modifies that class's skill list based upon his Education modifier at the time of the multiclassing.

Options

  • Skill Points. At each level (including first), a character may opt to use his Education score in place of his Intelligence score for determining skill points. The character chooses which score to use at each level.
  • Initial Spells Known. A wizard (or any other Force-using class) that has additional spells (or similar) known may use his Education modifier instead of his Intelligence modifier for purposes of knowing additional spells.
