Captain Vashanti is the self-styled merchant queen of half the ships currently in port. She has a varied career, having both served in local navies (rather pitiful outfits, all told) and struck out on her own as a pirate captain, before going legit and gathering her fleet of merchant ships. She's still a dangerous fighter, and ruffians and pirates know to avoid her personal ship. It is also known that Santosh Kansara is heavily in debt to her, and she uses this fact to get good bargains from him.

Her first mate, Lavanya is a woman in her thirties with harsh features and black hair in a bun, with loose sailor's clothes and a sword at her hip.
