With a command word, the wearer can close or open the extradimensional space within the pouch; when closed, the pouch holds no more than a mundane belt pouch the size of a human fist, though objects within the extradimensional space remain stored, unreachable until the pouch is unsealed again. This allows the user to empty his pockets or even turn the pouch inside-out to prove he carries no contraband, and access the hidden goods later when in a safe place. Because of their nonmagical auras, these pouches sometimes hold secret treasures for generations without their owners realizing their nature.

Born into the Theocracy of the Pale among a family in the highest echelons of the church, Verias' father was a High Inquisitor of the faith, and his mother a ranking priestess. The faith of Pholtus was all he knew up until the death of his father and the loss of his mother's faith. When the rest of the Knights Templar chased her, she fled to Greyhawk where she lost her pursuers.

As he grew he leaned to question all things and to draw upon the divine energies within him. Time passed, and Verias more and more found his thoughts and focus turning not to one particular deity but to many and how they all related. While he primarily paid homage to Yondalla and her other aspects, he sought to understand the secrets of life itself and what it meant to be alive.

While journeying from Greyhawk to Dyer, the group Verias was travelling with was attacked by a group of skeletons. As Verias watched others fall, he heard a calming female voice in his head telling him it would be ok, that there was a reason he was going through it and his questions would be answered. As the voice ended, he felt a bust of divine energy wash out of him and impact the undead, shattering several. They were saved, but at a cost. His hearing had left him. Frustrated at first, he eventually accepted the deafness as the price of his newfound divine blessing.
