Born and raised in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. After graduation, Wren attended EWU for a year before a camping accident cut short his mundane education. He was separated from the friends and wandered lost through the woods for hours calling for them. A loose branch slipped out from beneath him, sending Wren tumbling down a steep incline. Lying helpless at the bottom with a broken leg, Wren called and called for help. No one came, and as night fell, fear and despair set in. Without so much as a fire to keep warm, he endured that first night in a state of constant panic. Blind in the darkness, he had only the sounds of the forest and his own thudding heart to keep him company. Finally the sun rose and he called for help again. No one came. Wren managed to crawl around and find enough kindling to start a fire with his lighter, but his leg was getting worse. Hungry, terrified and alone, he spent yet another long night in the wilderness.

Background:

This time, when Wren awoke, it was still nighttime. The fire had gone out. No pale moon shone in the starless sky. Yet he could see. He could hear the sounds that frightened him before with crystal clarity, feel every movement of the forest and its denizens through the earth like a pulse. In fact, the forest was pulsing, something deep within beating like a gigantic drum. It was beating in sync with Wren’s own heart. Guided by the scent of something familiar that he couldn’t place, Wren wandered into the forest again. This time, he wasn’t afraid.

In the clearing ahead was the most gigantic tree Wren had ever seen. It was so wide it filled his field of vision, and so tall he could not even see the first of its branches. Upon its titanic roots, Wren found millions, countless millions, of names scratched into the surface. Everywhere there was a name, except one spot nearby. Acting on instincts he barely understood, Wren clawed his own name into the tree’s roots--and awoke next to the smoldering remains of the fire.

The first thing he saw upon returning to the Fallen world was a wren. From a branch above him, it sang a powerful song for such a little bird. Wren has never forgotten that song, and took a shadow name in honor of the bird. He walked out of the forest under his own power that day and returned to the city. Eventually a local cabal found Wren, introduced him to the Consilium, where he joined the Mysterium and received his training. Since the Awakening, Wren has gained a reputation in the order, as a seeker of lore and eager explorer. He’s recovered items and knowledge from both the Shadow and the physical world, and happily pursues quests in either realm. Wren also receives further education through Mysterium scholars and libraries.

Recently transferred to Chicago, hooked up with the local Mysterium and Consilium and joined a cabal there. He’s made allies of some spirits in the area, and uses both the spirits’ unique knowledge and his own abilities to aid the cabal’s endeavors. If things in the Shadow get too hectic, Wren will work towards setting them right and try to foster a resonance more compatible with the cabal’s goals. He’s also known for patching everyone up when things go wrong, and adding some muscle when the cabal needs it.
