The rebellion failed, of course, so Zig was sent out to keep an eye on the situation, gather loose ends, look after the family's interests and, if possible, lend at least some help to their friends and allies. His father sent him, specifically, because he's capable and loyal yet, as the youngest son, relatively expendable and low-profile.

Someone like [[Drwa_Oh%2C_Duck|Drwa]] seemed just the duck for the job.

A player character in Time of the Mists.

Personal Information

Name: Ziegfried Carnstone, Knight of Marcrais and Galethrin ("Zig" for friends)

Player: Max [1]

Race: Human

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Culture: Civilized

Background: Merchant

Profession: Noble

A dashing young man, possessed of remarkable wit, charm and natural authority. Zig was born the third son of baron Carnstone, the recently ennobled head of an ancient merchant family. Though still young, he has been taking part in the family business for some time; his talent and reliability quickly made him a highly valued asset, and for his part he loves the opportunity for travelling and the variety of experiences the work provides.

Zig is something of a dandy, always immaculately groomed and dressed, calm, controlled and unfailingly polite (albeit prone to sarcasm on occasion). It's easy to dismiss him as just a well-bred fop, and many do, but he is a true knight by character and ability as well as by birth, an accomplished swordsman and rider, chivalrous and bold.

Backstory

This Gloranthan comes from the south of Genertela: the barony of Marcrais-Galethrin is part of a tiny but economically thriving nation on the Mirrorsea Bay coast. His family has been trading rather extensively across the Mirrorsea, along the coast and up the rivers for centuries (with some smuggling, fencing and occasionally piracy on the side).

Zig came up north to Sartar as an agent for his father. His family covertly supported the Starbrow rebellion because the Lunar occupation has been bad for the trade up north, and they have close ties to the durulz who've handled a lot of their northern transport by riverboat for generations.

Of course, as a wealthy nobleman, it would not have been proper (or safe, allegedly) for him to travel alone, so he needed a formal bodyguard as well as someone he could trust, a comrade-in-crime who would know the local area and could help him locate their contacts, most of whom had gone hiding (or been killed, or captured). Someone like Drwa seemed just the duck for the job.

The two were lurking in the marshes around Duckpoint, dodging a Lunar taskforce sent out to seek and destroy the last remnants of the rebellion, when the worlds revolved...

Zig is also accompanied by a page boy. Not useful in any significant adventuring sort of way, just someone he can boss around and have fetch his stuff for him. He's a young cousin, thrice or fource removed, from the Seshnelan branch of the family; his name's Gavan.
