Aquarius is a very old and established super hero. A man whose lineage hails from the original Prince Varuna Dakkar who waged a terrorist campaign against the British Empire in revenge for the failed Sepoy Rebellion of 1857. The second King of Atlantis to bear that name, Aquarius suffers his current exile from his homeland in quiet dignity. Inside, he is a fuming mass of rage and disgust.

Aquarius' career as the defender of the Seven Seas began before World War 2. Atlantean science had already re-discovered many things that surface dwellers had forgotten. These things included longevity treatments and how to "bio-form" bodies to survive underwater in deep ocean pressures. Varuna Dakkar II was one of the first test subjects and altered his body further to be an exceptional physical specimen in a race of super humans. As a joke on the super humans already debuting in the surface world, he took the name Aquarius.

Disgusted by the Japanese and their Imperialist ways, Aquarius debuted as a friend to the United States during their war with the Axis. In addition to providing his own formidable physical support, Atlantean submarines sunk enemy U-boats and battle ships. Aquarius was mostly concerned about the threat of Japanese Imperialism to his ancestral homeland of India but also contributed to the war effort against Germany. Varuna Dakkar II was accepted as a member of the Liberty Men and believed them to be the finest men he'd ever known.

Aquarius' relationship with the United States cooled considerably during the Cold War. While he was no friend to communists, the rampant proliferation of nuclear weapons seriously disturbed him. He sent his brother, Amal, to the surface world in order to serve as a diplomat. This proved to be a costly mistake as the man's association with groups like P.H.A.N.T.O.M slowly corrupted what was already a diseased mind. Aquarius would have abandoned the surface world entirely, if not for the dawning of the Silver Age. The arrival of beings like Divinos and the return of his old friend Athena was a call to return to action.

Things would have been well if not for an increasing darkening of Atlantis under the influence of Amal Dakkar's cult. Aquarius (correctly) began to suspect that Western powers were attempting to seize Atlantean super-science for their own. The final straw came when a rogue faction of the U.S. Government, Project: Icarus, employed the murderous Blood Wing to assassinate him along with his family. They intended to place their own candidate on the throne in the resulting carnage. Aquarius was not home at the time that Blood Wing struck but both his son and wife were murdered by the monstrous serial killer.

Shattered by his grief, Aquarius assembled a posse to hunt down and destroy Blood Wing. Successfully doing so, Aquarius then decided that he would cease to play the games that other super heroes played. The Psychotic Seven were born. Eventually, Aquarius and Red Leopard combined notes to determine that they had to teach the United States government a lesson for their interference in their homeland's sovereignty. Aquarius was certain that, without super heroes protecting them, the United States would swiftly fall. Unfortunately, he had not counted on the dogged patriotism of the Silver Age's remnants joining with the world's next generation. Aquarius, in that failed attack, lost everything.

Aquarius is now a brooding figure that spends most of his time playing the pipe organ or plotting how to retake his lost kingdom. His arrogance prevents him from recognizing his mistakes and he feels betrayed by most of his associates in the Patriots. Aquarius is a monarch first and a super hero second, so his activities with the Psychotic Seven are mostly focused on acquiring resources for his eventual return to power rather than justice. Still, he has the strongest sense of justice amongst the surviving members of his group.

Aquarius is a heavily muscular man of Indian descent who often goes shirtless whenever on land. His body is covered in tattoos that are of a beautiful Atlantean design. Aquarius appears to be in his late-forties and is aging at a very slow rate, despite not being genuinely immortal. Whenever Varuna is holding a formal meeting or Captaining one of his submarines, he changes into formal Naval dress.
