Background[edit]

Constantine was born on the capital sector world of Scintilla, one of numerous scions of the Wolfe family, a moderately wealthy merchant clan with headquarters in Hive Sibellus. Already blessed with too many healthy heirs, the family sent him to the Ministorum at a young age to be educated, in the hopes that he would become a cleric. Though he did well in his studies, and took much of the Ecclesiarchy's teachings to heart, Constantine knew the priesthood was not the life for him, and felt called to the dark majesty of the stars, feeling convinced that he had some greater destiny amongst alien stars and on alien worlds. Upon reaching maturity, he appealed to his family's merchant contacts, found work on a cargo transport off world, and set out to make his own way.

However, without his family's support he found himself without the capital to make much of a start, and found himself taking shortcuts by working with unsavory characters, mingling with criminals and members of underworld societies. In particular he began to work often with the sinister Kasballica, one of the leading syndicates in the forbidden trade in alien artifacts, the Cold Trade. Smuggling and dealing in archeotech and xenos curiosities, he was able to make a lucrative niche for himself. That ended, however, when his black market dealings brought him in contact with a horrific cult which were sacrificing people as food to a hideous species of worm-men. He never got the answers he had sought in that horrible affair, and in fact was lucky to survive, but he got out of it with greater knowledge and fearful respect for the inhuman horrors that inhabit the galaxy.

Following that encounter, Constantine got out of the Cold Trade and left his Kasballica contacts behind, but still felt the call of his destiny among the stars. To that end, he parlayed what contacts he had left and his significant experience in both trade and underhanded dealings to secure a position among the retinue of a freshly named Rogue Trader, Martin Orthesian.

Appearance[edit]

Constantine has dark, shoulder length hair, his hairline receding slightly into a widow's peak. He has intense but contemplative eyes which are dark brown in color, and an aquiline nose which gives him a sharply dignified appearance. His expression is often curiously bemused, as though he is always working something out in his head. Ink smudges his fingers from his frequent writings and going-overs of the House books. Frequently at his side, perched on a gauntlet he wears beneath the sleeve of his robe, or on any convenient nearby roost, is his pet cyber-owl, a very peculiar bird fitted with arcane cybernetics.
