Overview[edit]

Arnbach is a remote and rather poor village in the province of Hochland. Located in the depths of the western Drakwald Forst it lies about one mile west of the river Flaschgang flowing down south from the Middle Mountains until it meets the river Talabec.

Being situated in the dangerous Drakwald Forest the village is surrounded by a high palisade with a sturdy wooden gate on both the eastern and western walls. Nearly all of the buildings are made from the local timber. The only exception is the mayor’s house, which is built from stone. Other notable buildings include a small temple dedicated to Sigmar with a small but fine graveyard, the ‘Arnbach Anchorage’, a tiny inn and ‘the shack’, a small but sturdy building used by the militia for storage.

A rather poorly maintained path leads to the west through the forest, eventually ending at Ahresburg after about 10 miles. Another well maintained path leads to the east through the forest and meets the river Flaschgang after about one mile. A number of trails lead into several directions into the thicket.

Currently, 51 villagers call Arnbach their home. Most of them are charcoal burners, carpenters, hunters or simple woodsmen.

The militia[edit]

The proud members of Arnbach's small militia are:

  • Gella Durgensdotr (leader)
  • Dieter Sterlinger (second in command)
  • Goran Schmidt
  • Arne Gyselher
  • maybe one of Ericka's sisters (?)

Tradesmen/Craftsmen[edit]

  • Carpenter/Candlemaker (Goran Schmidt)
  • Bowyer (Bernard Grissen)
  • Hunter/Woodsman (Reinhold Pirscher)
  • Woodsman (Daniel Darmbruch)
  • Fisherman (Ortlieb Hartmann)
  • Shoemaker/Tanner (Sabine Reinlich)

Places of interest[edit]

The Arnbach Anchorage[edit]

The owner Ortlieb and his wife Minna Hartmann put a number of large tables and stools into the largest room of their house. Now it acts as the local inn. Here they serve ale and home-made meals (mainly deer or fish) directly out of their private kitchen to the villagers. Since the war began and few travellers and merchants make a stop at Arnbach the number of visitors (as well as the supplies on ale) is slowly pertering out. Still many villagers meet and chat every night at the Hartmann house if only to a mug of water.

Small temple to Sigmar[edit]

The small temple in the village is dedicated to Sigmar, hero and saviour of the Empire. A young, ambitious woman named Ericka Gyselher runs the temple.
