Five Eagles

HISTORY

Roughly a hundred years ago, a family of staunch conservatives grew very worried at the growing influence of western thought upon their land. Their desperation and anger grew to such height that they made a devil’s bargain: all of their blood pledged themselves to the corrupt laws of Hell, if Heaven was not willing to protect their lands. In return they obtained power to slay the hated emissaries, businesmen, and tourists... but above all, their misguided countrymen who were willing to fight for these people with powerful kung fu. Later this blossomed out into the Damned Legion, as likeminded reactionaries gathered to form a secret society, with the cursed family as the backbone. About ten years ago they joined the alliance of evil gangs and societies (some would say “ceasefire” instead of alliance...) known as the Hell Clan.

But, all good things must come to an end. Each family member has his or her own personal demonic patron, but it would seem that hell is not a unified front. Infernal deals were broken and their clients found themselves with divided loyalties. Amidst the chaos of it all, one young man couldn’t handle the burden of guilt and fled his family altogether.

“Why should we allow a known Hell Clan soldier to join us?”, they asked at Scarlet Tiger school.

The man stringed his bow. He loosened a single arrow. Five birds fell dead out of the sky. From that point on the man was called Five Eagles. (Granted, they were actually just one eagle, three pigeons, and a duck; people of the wulin tend to exaggerate.)

DESCRIPTION

Five Eagles is a driven and dedicated man of nineteen years old, as well as a broken one. He hasn’t cared for his hair since his exodus, making it long and wild. If he binds it back to keep it out of his eyes he’s ready to get serious - it’s a compliment to his enemies, in a way. He is tall and brooding, with a narrow and troubled face. He eats and sleeps little. He drinks and thinks all the more (not to say that he’s plastered all the time, but more than average certainly). Amongst his classmates he is lauded for having a “perfect attack”, as they call it. A shot that they say can not miss. Five Eagles himself is less optimistic about his own skills. After all, he knows what his parents are capable off. And as soon as either of them has killed the other and ended the schism within the Legion, there’ll be no end of trouble for him.

NOTES

  • Following his defeat at the hands of Hundred Phoenix Feathers he has been searching to learn more powerful kung fu. When he figured out that Owl was steering their school for war with their rivals he made his excuses and left the region, claiming it was to train. If there’s one thing he can’t be bothered with it’s a little fake-war to cheat at a tournament he has no interest in.
  • His demonic patron is an “imaginary friend” who appears to him as a childishly cute anime-succubus, though nobody else can see her (well, almost nobody else that is). She gives Five Eagles helpful suggestions which she’d like him to do - or else she’ll reduce his power. Occasionally she also reveals prophetic dreams to him about what sort of destiny Hell has in store for the world.
  • The name of this succubus is Emo. It’s a chinese word. No really!
