Glavin and Angelo: What is this thing

"A what?" Angelo said. He had brought in the vids of the 'thing' he had picked up. He had a hunch it was worth some money, and the person he bought it from swore up and down it was original.

However, Angelo had based his offering price based on the item as a piece of artwork, nothing more. He wasn't a student of antiquities and never really planned on being one. However, it would be nice to know before he sold the thing. Maybe there was a good profit to be had.

"Yes, well, you don't see these every day." Glavin said, eyeing the video closely. "Truth to tell, you seldom see these once a decade. On the academic market you could get an honorarium of a couple million; the private collectors would offer you ten times that. Easily." He shrugged. "If I had the cash I'd offer it myself."

"Thank you, sir! For your honesty and for your time."

"I notice you didn't trust my honesty enough to bring in the original." Glavin said.

"I travel a lot, and security is difficult sometimes." Angel said with a shrug. "Is there a way I can compensate you for your time?"

"Yes, as a matter of fact there is." Glavin smiled. "My contacts and ability are too limited for a transaction. If you would sell something for me I would appreciate it."

Angel smiled. In truth, his mind was on his own property and not fully on the dusty box Glavin produced. "Certainly! Although you would have to point me to the right customers. I would happily cut my fee in half for you."

Opening the dusty sliding board box, Glavin took out a face sized carving of some stone unknown to Angelo. "It's actual value is around half a million. Not nearly as rare as your piece. But it does have a certain attraction for those with an interest in aboriginal art."

"Why part with it?"

"My studies." Glavin said, looking down at his beaten desk. "I cannot get funding for my field work and my work is expensive. Selling this will let me work on a couple very promising projects."

"I see..." Angelo said, having caught the body language. Still, one must help one's friends. "Deal. Give me some names and I will get you top dollar for it!"

After Angelo left, Glavin pulled a different box from another drawer. Uncorking the bottle he poured a slug and downed it. "And that, my good Juko, is how one deals with evidence. Feel free to come search for your long lost treasure, it's on the open market now."
