House Rules / Clarifications / Expectations[edit]

Fiction first! It goes without saying, but your post should narratively represent the mechanics, i.e. the dice in your pool.

Multiple Distinctions in a Pool. You may use both a character Distinction and Scene Distinction in your dice pool, but one of them must be at D4. This grants the player 1PP and the Watcher a D6 to the Doom Pool.

Complication and Stress Dice. You can use a complication dice AND a stress dice from your opponent in a roll without spending a PP.

Descriptive Stress. Just like with Complications, I'd like any Stress received to be given a short description e.g. Nicks and Cuts D4 (Physical), Major Daddy Issues D12 (Emotional)

Assets. When creating an asset, a larger reaction die does NOT step down the resulting asset.

Scene Distinctions. Scene distinctions can be set higher or lower than the standard d8. But unless explicitly mentioned, assume all scene distinctions are set at the standard d8.

Area Attack. You have to allocate all of your effect dice BEFORE buying dice to boost your total. This is to prevent the area-attacker from using dice on the total and getting "free" D4 effect dice on the targets.

Watcher-rolled Opportunities. When the Watcher rolls an opportunity the player they were rolled against has the right of first refusal on activating those opportunities. If that player declines any opportunities any other player can pay to activate those opportunities.

Player-rolled Opportunities. When a player rolls the dice they can automatically assume all opportunities are activated by the Watcher. This is to keep things moving quickly.

Watcher Stress-Changing. The Watcher may spend a doom die to change the type of stress being inflicted on a Watcher character. Player characters can do it with a PP, so Watchers should be able to also. It does require a Doom die at least as large as the stress being deflected.

Counterattacks. I'm reigning these in a bit. You can only counterattack if the attacker rolled an Opportunity. Also, counterattacks do not get stepped up by extraordinary success.

No One-Shots. An effect die can never be treated as higher than a D12. You must first inflict a D12 (as stress or complication) and then on a different action get at least a D4 to step it up past a D12.
