A statement issued from the office of Brian Jaffe, on behalf of the Hopewell Founction, on October 11, 2005, in response to Milos Wiazowski's King Farm Announcement:

We at the Hopewell Foundation would like to offer our congratulations to Mr. Wiazowski on his success in opening King Farm. Helping disenfranchised Survivors find security is a noble cause and a task that we, too, have set for ourselves. At the same time, we can only hope that no Survivor takes Mr. Wiazowski up on his offer.

The lessons of history are painful and plain to see. Segregation does not work. Living in the ghettos did not save the Jews from the fires of the Holocaust. The Homelands did not save black South Africans from Apartheid. And, as Americans proved in a Montgomery, Alabama school some forty years ago, seperate is most definitely not equal.

Do not lock yourselves away from the world. Don't set yourselves up as different. Mr. Wiazowski tells you that you should "walk as gods." That's a dangerous idea. Many of us have special powers, but none has demonstrated more wisdom than another other man. We bring a unique gift to the world, but we can never let ourselves forget that we are part of the world, that we must live in it.

Mr. Wiazowski has embraced all Survivors including, in his own words, Revolutionaries and Radicals, Anarchists and even Terrorists. Especially considering the events that brought us to where we stand today, we would think that he could choose better friends.

But if terrorists are the friends that Mr. Wiazowski has chosen, leave him to them. The rest of us, those who were parents and school teachers, cooks and artists, those of us who were every day people, we must not forget where we have come from. We've changed some, it would be foolish to deny it, but inside, where it counts, we surely call the same old places home and the same old faces family. We can't ever let fear and small differences drive us away from that.

If you need help readjusting to the world, if you need a leg up or just someone to talk to, please come to the Hopewell Foundation. We're here to pave your way in the world, so that you don't have to seperate yourself from it.
