<Random_Nerd> Hey. Beth'll be here shortly.
<Angelo> Hi RN!
<Random_Nerd> How's it going?
<Angelo> Is doing ok and you?
<Knockwood> Hiya RN
<Random_Nerd> Doing well enough. If my typing's a bit slow, I gave blood a couple hours ago and my right arm is still a bit sore.
<Angelo_xchat_test> just today I spoke with a shark for my car crash...
<Angelo> Oh, how loudable. Bravo
<Angelo> !
<Angelo> wich kind of blood you have?
<Random_Nerd> O Positive.
<Random_Nerd> Pretty common type, so I try to give blood when I remember.
<Angelo> Oh O is rare here

<Angelo> Hi Beth!
<Knockwood> Hiya Beth
<Angelo> side note: A big Hi from Lazarus. He can't game today but most certainly next week will be with us! :-)
<BethE> I too gave blood...they had trouble with me. Apparently I bleed outside of needles when they poke me...
<Knockwood> Oh, good
<BethE> Cool!
<Angelo> oh, youl form an "ematoma"
<Knockwood> you guys catch this thread: http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=445073
<Angelo> will hurt for some day... really uncool
<Random_Nerd> Ironically, I'm the one that that sort of thing usually happens to, but this time it was Beth.
<Random_Nerd> I hadn'
<Random_Nerd> t seen that one, Knock.
<Random_Nerd> Huh. You know, between this Nobilis game and my previous one, I've run more sessions of Nobilis than any single other system, although it's been less than half of my overall GMing.
<Angelo> Me too ù, not seen this one
<BethE> Oh, reminds me...in a couple of weeks, this game will be 4 years old.
<Angelo> my wife have iron problems too
<Knockwood> ah yes
<Angelo> oh, we need a celebrations that week!

<Knockwood> and the Poster thread has Ascended! ... again.

  • Angelo curl under a wool hand knickted bedcover done by my grandma with a curled cat upon as bonus !___!

<Angelo> sidenote 2: we need a name for chapter 14
<Random_Nerd> If you have no better name, I suggest "So, how fast does this snail travel, exactly?"
<Angelo> @RN: Lol I like it!
=-= BethE is now known as Theresa
=-= YOU are now known as Ftisk
<Knockwood> (Dang it! Just realized I just a PDF of Burning Empires back when my C: drive ate itself.)
=-= Knockwood is now known as DanteE
<DanteE> *lost
<Ftisk> well last time we have just passed 2 funny guard at S. palace/tower
<Theresa> We have been asked not to destroy the city.
<Random_Nerd> So, ready to go?
<DanteE> Sure...
<Ftisk> si!
<Theresa> Ready.
<Random_Nerd> __________________START_______________
<Random_Nerd> So, you've walked past the guards, who have confirmed that you're Noble and then asked you not to destroy the city.
<Ftisk> (/me *lc* death ray machine and start wreak avoc!!!)
<Ftisk> "Ok we can walk the staritcase or there is an elevator?"
<DanteE> Well, you can float. :)
<Random_Nerd> There is, in fact, a staircase. A spiral staircase, in fact, running up the interior of the dragon vertebrae. There's a pillar up the center that seems to be made of actual bronze rather than the brassy bones, and the stairsteps seem to be made of immense fangs and claws, sanded smootth and flat on top.
<Theresa> "Nice manicure."
<Ftisk> "Yeah, but you need to walk"
<Random_Nerd> Periodically, the walls are hung with crossed mauls. Most seem to have seen use, rather than being merely decorative, based on the dents and scratches on their heads.
<DanteE> we're on a world where the people are cloth...

  • Ftisk walk on the starircase

<Theresa> "It's good exercise."

  • Theresa climbs.

<Random_Nerd> Periodically, you pass openings out to rooms, or in some cases just ledges. Some of the ledges have big stacks of bricks or other heavy objects on them. Do you go up to the top?
<Ftisk> "Well, these mauls semm rather used... I wonder, they have been attached recently?"
<Random_Nerd> (Could you, please, use quotation marks? It works better in the logs.)
<Ftisk> (oh, sorry, I always forgot... :-( )
<DanteE> (Yes)
<Theresa> (Yeah, I head up to the top as well.)
<Ftisk> (take on dope hat)
<Ftisk> Me too go to the top
<Random_Nerd> Up at the top, you reach the immense skull you saw before. Between you and it is a door made of what looks like a cross between mother-of-pearl and the shiny bottoms of CDs.
<Random_Nerd> There's a knocker on it, simple in design and made of granite or some similar stone.
<Theresa> "So that's what happened to those AOL CDs..."
<DanteE> "Well, better this than, say, installing AOL."
<Ftisk> "Oh well, "

  • Ftisk use the knocker

<Random_Nerd> Loud and bright voice within: "Come in."
<Theresa> (Does it sound like the guy we met earlier whose name I can't spell?)
<Random_Nerd> (It sounds similar to him, at least. More like him than other Dionyl that you've spoken to. But a little different, still.)

  • DanteE opens the door...

<Ftisk> (can bea relative?)
<Random_Nerd> (Perhaps.)
<Random_Nerd> As you open the door, you see a figure similar to what you saw before. It's a suit of armor, but empty as Dionyl clothing tends to be. The style has changed a little, though, so that it looks to be more one of those old Roman suits of hardened leather with the breastplate shaped to look like the torso of a muscular man.
<Random_Nerd> He turns as you enter. "Courage? Why have you come so soon? I have not even summoned you yet."
<Theresa> *blink*
<Random_Nerd> The voice sounds rather like someone taught a trumpet or another brass instrument to speak. Not speaking English, of course, but a Dionyl language. Not the same one Sam or the Nobles you know prefer to speak, but a linguistically related one.
<DanteE> "...summoned?"
<Ftisk> (uhoh... I'm all ears)

  • Ftisk interested

<Random_Nerd> "I guess I already summoned you. Forgetting things again. At any rate, you've seen the problem, what do you think should be done?"
<DanteE> "Uh... we came on our own. What are you talking about?"
<Random_Nerd> In the background, at the two eyes of the skull, two dionyl archers stand. Their "arrows" don't have sharpened points, and seem to be more heavy slugs of steel.
<Random_Nerd> Armored Dionyl: "The chancel. The chancelfolk."
<Theresa> "They seem a bit aggressive but you might like them that way. Your guards are nervous about Nobles.
<Theresa> "
<Ftisk> (can courage be a true god estate? if so there is one for each world)
<Random_Nerd> Armored Dionyl: "They're aggressive, sure, but weak. Gaudy. Armed civilians causing trouble, not a proper militia."
<Random_Nerd> (Courage is, in this Nobilis game, a Wild estate. There are probably semi-overlapping concepts that are god-owned, though.)
<Theresa> "What do you want them to be like? A proper militia?"
<DanteE> to Theresa: "Entropy and company said they'd leave him alone, right?"
<Random_Nerd> Dionyl: "I want to have the proper martial spirit. But I don't think there is a Power of that. You're reasonably close, and you're one of the few modern Nobles I know, so I called you. Or was going to."
<Theresa> *to Dante* "Yep, but it's good to have a good defense, if only to be worthy of your Chancel."
<DanteE> (Let's see, I'm full up on MPs, right?)
<Ftisk> (facepalm)
<Random_Nerd> (I think so.)
<DanteE> "Ah.
<Random_Nerd> Dionyl: "It's not to fight a war. I don't have any war to fight. But the people who've come to me are a disaffected rabble. I had hoped to make them into something more worthy."
<DanteE> "We actually came here to ask you about Active Writing...
<DanteE> "It reappeared in Creation at the same time you did."
<Random_Nerd> Dionyl: "Yes. I imagine so."
<Theresa> (Novbles can handle multiple conversations at once, yes?)
<Random_Nerd> (Probably. Nobles with Aspect, at least.)
<DanteE> "We can certainly look over your troops..."
<Ftisk> (I believe is an aspect trick)
<Random_Nerd> (Humans can multitask, Nobles can multitask very well indeed.)
<Theresa> "Who are your second in command?"
<Random_Nerd> Dionyl: "I have four direct subordinates, in different areas. One deals with the protection of the castle itself and my civilian personell, one is in charge of my engineers and masons, one is my high priest and handles religious matters, and one is trying to get at least something of a standing army going."
<Random_Nerd> Dionyl: "And I have no complaint with they themselves. I have good people, but I also have the sort who've left five or ten citystates because they didn't fit in."
<Random_Nerd> Dionyl: "Is your army made up of humans, dionyl, or something else, Courage?"
<Theresa> "How much loyalty can you command out of your Chancelfolk? Part of the soul of an army is based on what they are fighting for."
<DanteE> "Humans. We've basically kept the human power base and infrastructure that it had before the enChanceling."
<Random_Nerd> Dionyl: "I could compel them, of course. But it seems unsporting, in some way."
<Random_Nerd> Dionyl: "And there you have part of the problem. All my original subjects are centuries dead, and none of these lived here more than a month ago."
<DanteE> (Hm... anyone else thinking he could use an Aide?)
<Theresa> "Hmm..Dante, can you divine anything that the courage of the Chancelfolk are connected to? Like if they would defend just themselves or the Chancel or how cowardly they are?"
<DanteE> "That could work..."
<DanteE> Can we get a view of the troops out a window?
<Ftisk> "The I can made a behaviourd reprogramation machine to 'correct' the cowardy one"
<Random_Nerd> (Which troops do you mean? The palace guard, or who?)
<DanteE> "I suspect Kudzu would yell at us if we tried that."
<DanteE> (I want to get a Div-Courage on the troops he's referring to.)
<Ftisk> "At you maybe.. but Volcan is not interessed in these matters... I think"
<Theresa> "We could get Dante to fight the army and show them that teamwork can do wonders."
<Random_Nerd> (A Greater Div of Courage would give you that information for all the city, I'd say.)
<Random_Nerd> "If I wanted to break down their minds and remake them, I could do that myself. Rather, I wanted advice."
<Theresa> "Kudzu is concerned with sanity and freedom. He doesn't like taking away someone's freedom, even if it is the freedom to be a jackass."
<DanteE> (OK, then... Greater Div of COurage on Sakharoth's troops, 2 DMP)
<Theresa> "What incentives are there for your folk to join the army?"
<Ftisk> "Will be just a change of priority from beinga jackass to a loyal army man"
<Random_Nerd> There are, broadly speaking, three major groups of his troops.
<Random_Nerd> Some, the core of them, are basically well-disciplined career soldiers or citizen soldiers. They're the smallest group, but also the most prominent.
<Random_Nerd> The largest group is the indifferent people. They'll play along, and even pretend to themselves that they're part of group one, but it's just a shallow and momentary thing. Imagine the sort of people who drift from cult to cult, if they ended up spending some time in a cult with a military theme.
<Random_Nerd> And the third group, about half the size of the second but twice the size of the first, are the kind of people that you met earlier. Prone to carrying weapons and threatening people, but mostly just co-opting the militaristic theme of the area to walk the streets armed.
<DanteE> (Hm... group 2 would mean Sak's Domination is slipping)
<Ftisk> (Or the he attracted more tourist that anything other)
<Random_Nerd> (Yeah. He's powerful enough to get people to see things more or less his way, but not enough to make everyone /do/ things his way.)
<DanteE> (Hm... OK, guys, ideas what to do?)
<Random_Nerd> (And, yes, a lot of them are tourist sorts. You get that kind a lot on Dionyl whenever a new city with a new worldview shows up. They haven't quite matched with the worldsight of others in the cities they've lived in before, but maybe /this/ one will be different. Sometimes, it is.)
<Ftisk> (big brainwashing machine?)
<Theresa> (Beat the crap out of group 3?)
<Ftisk> (why? Leave the bullies alone... we have virgin minds to burn! (group2) :-P )
<Theresa> (If you burn all of the virgins, do you know what you get? Volcanos!)
<Random_Nerd> "Oh, another thing. You know the culture this armor is from, I assume. Human. Mid third-age. Correct?"
<DanteE> "Does seem to match our ancient Rome."
<Ftisk> "Yes"
<Ftisk> "Imperial Rome age"
<DanteE> (How would you know? :) )
<Random_Nerd> (Because he was made by a roman god?)
<DanteE> (Oh, right. :/ )
<Ftisk> ( :-P )
<Random_Nerd> "What are some good names from them? Military leaders, tribes, that kind of thing."
<Theresa> "Caesar."
<Ftisk> "Cesar, Ottaviano, Vespasiano, Tito Aurelio"
<Theresa> "He was a famous leader. Hey Ftisk, do you have a copy of Roman history available?"
<DanteE> "Augustus....
<Ftisk> "Nero"
<Random_Nerd> "Hmm. Could work. Trying to pick a new name. Humans from that area seem to work well for Warmains, after all."
<Ftisk> "Yes, I can have one"
<DanteE> "__not_ Nero. In fact, there are several named to avoid from then..."
<Ftisk> "Can you repeat?"
<Random_Nerd> "Repeat?"
<Ftisk> (He say he is a Warmains? Humans from that area seem to work well for Warmains, after all)
<DanteE> "That part you just said. What did you mean?"
<Ftisk> "You came to the conclusion you are a Warmain"
<Random_Nerd> (He's not sure if he's a warmain.)
<Ftisk> "?"
<Random_Nerd> "Well, that general area. Generally east of there, but I imagine Rome should work too."
<Random_Nerd> (In case you haven't noticed, a lot of excrucians tend to be named after germanic tribes.)
<Random_Nerd> (In the book, as well as in this game.)
<Ftisk> (Never noticed... )
<DanteE> "Anyway ... Caesar had such a reputation that, even now, his name is synonymous with a mighty leader.
<Ftisk> "Odoacre was a german leader"?
<Random_Nerd> (Genseric Dace, for instance. Genseric is a Vandal name, and the Dacii were another tribe.)
<DanteE> "Or variants of his name, like Czar."
<Random_Nerd> He doesn't actually smile, but his posture shifts in a way that suggests that he would be, if he had lips.
<DanteE> "Then again, going 'east of there', there's always Genghis."
<Random_Nerd> "Caesar. I've heard of him. He wrote a book, about his wars."
<DanteE> "Or Khan"
<Random_Nerd> He waves his hand in the air, and a small and well-groomed ape appears.
<Random_Nerd> "Seventeenth book, third shelf, second floor."
<Random_Nerd> The ape scurries off.
<DanteE> "Actually, as long as were talking about military matters... I have to ask: will your troops be solely used for defense?"
<Ftisk> (good question!)
<Random_Nerd> "I had considered hiring them out as mercenaries, when they were ready. That would build us positive relationships with some nations, and enemies in others. Get us back in the swing of things."
<Theresa> "Maybe some Celtic tribes? Fionn Mac Cumhaill or that hound guy..."
<Random_Nerd> The ape scurries back in, carrying a book.
<Random_Nerd> The armored dionyl rapidly flips through.
<DanteE> (The armored Dionyl totally flips out? :) )
<Ftisk> "Why not Attila the Hun then"
<Random_Nerd> "Perfect. Julius Caesar, the one you mentioned, actuallly defeated the suebi about two and a half thousand years ago. Are any divine beings using his name at the moment?"
<Ftisk> (can data know)
<Ftisk> (?)
<Random_Nerd> (You can. None is. Caesar did not, in fact, become a god at his death, and for some reason he wasn't Ennobled either, although he was an Anchor during his life.)

  • Ftisk LD then "None is using the name"
  • Ftisk some parabolic imprints appear over my body

<Random_Nerd> "How does that sound? Julius, Gaius, or Caesar, do you think?"
<DanteE> "For the leader, Caesar is almost a given."
<Theresa> "Caesar sounds more noble. Gaius sounds more like a first name."
<Ftisk> "I second Theresa"
<Random_Nerd> "I think I'll take the whole name, but use Gaius personally. That's a good name, there's some power there."
<Theresa> "He commanded great loyalty and respect from his warriors."
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "What is the law of your nature, Plants?"
<Theresa> "I am ruled by the code of the Wild from my Imperator but my own personal rule is that of the Children of the Ash."
<DanteE> (Hm... as for his other problem... what if he comes up with some sort of payment/reward thing? That way he'll have his troops, but if he tries anything, someone can pay them more. :) )
<Random_Nerd> G: "Not that. What principle does the inner truth of your nature impose upon you and others?"

  • Theresa smiles. "This sounds like when we first met."

<Theresa> "The law of my nature...I think...is that all things should have a purpose. It does not matter how great or how small that purpose is, that purpose should exist."
<Random_Nerd> G: "I realize that for a long time, one's inner nature has not had effects on the outside, at least barring Nobles and divinities. That's going to change."
<DanteE> "Change ... how?"
<DanteE> (That may be the DOmination coming through. Or the Warmain.)
<Random_Nerd> G: "I remembered my other estates."
<Random_Nerd> G: "Weak now, of course. But after my own house is in order once more, I'll see to that."
<Ftisk> "Wich estae do you have?"
<Ftisk> estate even
<Random_Nerd> G: "Not going to get into the issue of whether they're Sakaroth's estates, or if Suebi stole them, or which one I am. They're mine, now."
<Random_Nerd> G: "Active Writing, which you said. The Law Of One's Nature. And Deodands."
<DanteE> "... can you acquaint us with the latter two?"
<Random_Nerd> G: "Deodands. Things, inanimate objects mainly, that have killed people. Are there any lingering superstitions about them, about how a tool that had killed a man would kill another, if it had the chance?"
<Ftisk> "Some faint superstition remain of this estate"
<DanteE> "You mean by itself?"
<Random_Nerd> G: "Good. That way, people will be prepared when it starts working properly again."
<DanteE> "There are legends of special or 'cursed' weaponry..."
<Theresa> "Especially guns."
<DanteE> "But they require a wielder"
<Ftisk> "Or houses, that require someone living in it to be killed"
<Random_Nerd> G: "Oh, certainly. They won't strike of their own accord. But the hammer that smashed your fingers, you had better watch it. The weapon that slew a king will once more be properly tainted, and if possible seek out poetic justice for the usurper."
<DanteE> (Hm... that was here even when he was gone.)
<Ftisk> (nice estate!)
<Ftisk> (well lingering superstition can survive an estate excruciation?)
<Theresa> (Stay away from the Lance, Dante...)
<Random_Nerd> (I have decided that yes, it can, at least in some cases.)
<Ftisk> (@ T: LOL! )
<Theresa> *rubs a forehead* "Remind me to warn John about the Lance when we go home."
<DanteE> (Huh... maybe RN planned that, that the Lance 'anchored' that idea in Creation even when Sakharoth left.
<DanteE> (Or, RN could be pulling all this out of his ass.)
<Random_Nerd> G: "And the law of one's nature... let me see. That the inner truths about a person will not be tainted or betrayed by the material world."
<Ftisk> "can you give an example?"
<Random_Nerd> (Well, the Lance does count as vaguely, semi, Noble, at least if you squint at it funny. And it is an established fact that excruciated estates persist in Nobles.)
<Random_Nerd> G: "If the two greatest swordsmen of an age are dueling, what is the likelihood that one of them will be shot with an arrow by some random soldier on the field?"
<DanteE> (Depends on who's directing.)
<Theresa> (If one has to ask if RN is pulling something out of his ass, one will never know.)
<DanteE> (Oh, so we should ask Juan? :) )
<Ftisk> (Well so or he is a pro ass pulling or he plan EVERYTHING)
<Theresa> "None because the fight will be so awesome that for some poor smuck of a soldier to break into the duel would be totally against literary convention."
<Random_Nerd> (Perhaps my ass plans everything.)
<Ftisk> (thumb I roll out of the bed laughting!)
<Random_Nerd> G: "There was a time that the truths of people would /matter/. That a man /would/ be the greatest knight because his heart was pure. That if a good and honest man, betrayed and destroyed by his enemies, pronounced a curse on them, it would stick. That people mattered, not just to themselves or each other, but to the world. Fate, if you will."
<Random_Nerd> G: "It's coming back."
<Theresa> "Interesting."
<Ftisk> "these seem human estates, your name is a human one, but you came to Dyonil... why?
<Ftisk> "
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "I'm not a god, and never was. These are, were, estates of the world. All the worlds. Humans knew them, and titans, and demons. They went away, and I'm still not sure why, but they have returned. I have returned, or remade myself, or something."
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "Whatever I am, these things will be true again."
<Ftisk> "Ok, but my question was centered on why you choose to came to Dyonil instead of the world x"
<DanteE> to Theresa: "Does it seem to you like there were 'shadows' of his estates remaining _except_ Active Writing?"
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "Sakaroth lived here. Most of my memories are of this world. My very form is not that of a demon or a human, but of one of the clothed spirits. Where else would I live?"
<Theresa> *to Dante* "Seems possible. It could be that estates taken by Warmains, who then honor their fallen enemies still have a shadow existing here."
<Ftisk> "Here..."
<Ftisk> "And active writing? resurfaced with Sahkaroth return, no echo for this estate"
<Ftisk> no shadow
<Theresa> "It's not a perfect theory."
<DanteE> to Theresa: "And it nicely leaves open the question of who we're talking to."
<Theresa> "Let's just go with it. He asked for our help."
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "Me. Don't know who I was before that, and I've decided not to care. I will do the things that come naturally, and by this learn who I now am."
<Ftisk> (well 'till now we are not covered in bbq sauce...)
<DanteE> (Who was Angel of Weapons again?)
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "Even if I am an Excrucian, I'm a Warmain. We don't use lies and deception and daggers in the back."
<Theresa> (You mean the guy that KudZu sucked an Estate out of?)
<Random_Nerd> (Azazel. Still alive. Not happy with Kudzu.)
<DanteE> (Right... he may know him, because of his magic-weapons Estate)
<Random_Nerd> (Well, it isn't about weapons as such, except insomuch as weapons are more likely than other objects to kill people. It'd apply just as strongly to a car that a drunk driver ran over someone with.)
<DanteE> "As for your troops... you have a core of good soldiers at the heart of your forces, and a larger group of, basically, hangers-on."
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "I know it."
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "What do you advise?"
<Theresa> "Give the hangers on a motive to join in or under the heart. Bonuses, shinies, recognition and such."
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "And hope that the mindset of the veterans rubs off more on the weaksouled than the reverse? At least I don't have to worry about them corrupting the veterans, I suppose. These hangers-on are only one step from splintered people."
<DanteE> "Keep discipline as well... throw out the ones who only want to Dominate for no reason."
<DanteE> (What he needs is something for the troops to _believe_ in)
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "We need a reason. A purpose, something to drive that. But I have no enemies, and no allies. No one to fight against or for."
<DanteE> "If you are with us in the fight to preserve Creation you can have allies."
<Ftisk> "Can we made an mutual fight agreeements between him and, said, CT inperator?"
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "I'm willing to do my place standing at the wall, I merely wished to arrange these things first. After all, I do not know if my peers will welcome my presence at their side."
<Theresa> "We would welcome you, I think."
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "But my people need a purpose even more than I do, I think. Even the weak ones. Them more than most, if anything. They've failed their cities, but they've also been failed, I say."
<Theresa> "Because they could not find a place to belong?"
<Ftisk> "My suggestion stand, domination need someone to fight. So another imperator can be in need of an enemy. You can agree and guide the masses against each other. Then the masses have something to believe"
<DanteE> "Not Imperator...
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "I fear for them, should it be a challenge of worldsight. Our city is fragmented, and we do not see as one. But perhaps it would help unify them."
<DanteE> (What if they help watch over one of the known holes in the Wall?)
<Theresa> (Asking for a spot that has big activity would throw red flags for the Council.)
<Random_Nerd> (In the Spirit World, you mean? Even Nobles are fish out of water in that world.)
<DanteE> (Ooh... they could be the first line of defense for Dionyl itself)
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "If you have a need for troops, mundane beings, to defend your nation, call on me. You have been friends to me, offering advice when I needed it without bargaining or trading."
<DanteE> (... and here we were looking for Active Writing advice...)
<Ftisk> (night is long we have time to ask)
<Ftisk> "Well, we came to ask for advice on Active Writing. We are fidling with it to send message around"
<Random_Nerd> G: "It works already? That is pleasing."
<DanteE> "Well, our Dionyl Aide is basically re-learning it from scratch...
<DanteE> "And could use some help in that regard."
<Ftisk> "Yes we was able to send message from chancel to chancel, but with garbled contents. But something arrived"
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "Sending between worlds, or half-worlds, is difficult. It was even when the estate was strong. I could do it, of course, but few others had perfect success. It works best if the people on both ends are more than mortal, and paying close attention."
<DanteE> (Hm... the message had Shadows on one end, but Samuel on the other.)
<Ftisk> "Next time we can try a Noble to Noble transmission... maybe will work better... and for the scrambled content..."
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "It helps if both have the same native language, too."
<DanteE> "Come to think of it, there's a bigger question.
<DanteE> "... what do you remember of the other side of the Wall?"
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "Nothing that makes sense. I try not to think of it. I have a vague idea that thinking too much about it might bring back whatever loyalties I might have to there."
<Random_Nerd> G: "I have chosen to defend these worlds, and do not wish to shake my resolve."
<DanteE> (uhoh)
<Ftisk> (uhoh too)
<DanteE> (Then again, we don't know if Kudzu went through the same thing)
<Ftisk> (But Kudzu want to remember)
<Random_Nerd> He seems to shiver for a moment.
<Random_Nerd> G: "What if I'm not Suebi, just Sakaroth with a few of his memories, but Suebi is still out there?"
<DanteE> "You said you remembered killing him."
<Theresa> "If he is, he's probably there of his own will."
<Random_Nerd> G: "If he is, I'd like to talk with him. But I imagine that at the end he would be at least as confused as I am."
<Theresa> "If we find any sign of him on the other side, we will let you know."
<DanteE> (Will we?)
<Ftisk> (@D:You surely ... are you honest?)
<Theresa> (If we find that info, he would have some of that worry taken away. Instead of a fork in the road, the way becomes straight.)
<DanteE> (Yeah, but will we still remember it when we get back?)
<Ftisk> (if aw will work, we'll not have memory problems)
<DanteE> (Anyway... we have the big project from Entropy. We have Active Writing. We now have Gaius' troops to 'fix', and/or finding something for them to believe in. What now?)
<Random_Nerd> (Well, he didn't really want you to fix them yourself. Rather, he wanted some advice from a Noble with a relevant enough Estate to know what he was talking about, and who wouldn't freak out when he tried to explain who he was.)
<DanteE> (Ah, OK.)
<Ftisk> (oh ,was unclear for me. thank)
<DanteE> "Anyway... as for your troops.
<DanteE> "I believe is you nurture that 'core' group, with rewards and accolades...
<Random_Nerd> (If he just wanted a miraculous brute-force solution, he could manage that himself somehow, even though he doesn't actually have a chancel yet.)
<DanteE> "Carefully build on that...
<DanteE> "As long as you don't go sending your troops to invade anywhere, you can build.
<DanteE> "I should mention... I believe the Powers That Be have agreed to leave you and your domain alone as long as you don't 'make waves'.
<DanteE> (Did he leave before or after Entropy took power?)
<Random_Nerd> (Before.)
<Random_Nerd> (And Entropy doesn't actually have power here, mind.)
<Random_Nerd> (Or at least, it's on a level of influence and suggestion rather than having people eaten by locusts.)
<DanteE> (Oh yeah, that's strictly Earth)
<Random_Nerd> (People here still pay attention to him, and an inordinate number of dionyl Powers think he's vaguely "cool", though.)
<Ftisk> (Earth sweet Earth full of locust, ruled by Entropy...)
<DanteE> "You know anything about Lord Entropy, by the way?"
<Random_Nerd> G: "I've heard him mentioned. Some tin-pot tyrant that you put up with?"
<Theresa> ("We call him That Bastard on the Other Side too, I remember that...")
<DanteE> "Well... the Lord of Earth, as imposed upon us."
<DanteE> (So, same thing.)
<Random_Nerd> G: "And he's got only a moderate sense of style, and at least half his rules seem to be merely to amuse him?"
<Ftisk> "Yes, that one"
<Random_Nerd> G: "How good is he at leading the War on your world?"
<Theresa> "Uhh...hard to tell. We haven't lost yet?"
<Random_Nerd> G: "Then I can't tell you whether to get rid of him. But I don't have to do what he says. "Don't make waves." I'm an Imperator, and for that matter a person. I intend to make some waves."
<DanteE> "Entropy, the Council of Four, and the Locust Court are primarily seen by Nobles when they deal with ... Internal Investigations."
<Theresa> "And plus, you are right in that you aren't controlled by him in that you are not an Imperator of Earth."
<Ftisk> "But its opinions are taked as sugestion here... from his simpaticants a least"
<Random_Nerd> Gaius: "Their problem. Not mine."
<DanteE> "Well... still, 'don't make waves' is a good idea, I think. You're still sharing space with Dionyl's Powers and Ymerae."
<Ftisk> "well... you can trow a party to gain some connections"
<Theresa> (*brain oozing*)
<DanteE> (Heh... that may or may not be a brilliant idea, Ftisk. :) )
<Random_Nerd> G: "I don't do... parties."
<Random_Nerd> (Mine is oozing too. I think we should stop soon.)
<Ftisk> (*mine too*)
<DanteE> (Fair enough... did we actually accomplish anything? :) )
<Random_Nerd> (I think you did.)
<Theresa> (We found out that he doesn't do parties. As an Imperator, that includes surprise parties.)
<Ftisk> (we entertain ourself, gained insignt in AW, and in Sak)
<DanteE> "Probably a good idea to say hello to your 'neighbors', anyway."
<Random_Nerd> (You know the rules, Beth. "Surprise parties are verboten. Important guests may be disintegrated."
<Random_Nerd> )
<Ftisk> "we can find some belive neutral dyonil to contact the others imperators"
<DanteE> (Or... an Aide!)
<DanteE> (Could also find one with military experience, maybe. :) )
<Ftisk> "Or we can connect with the Aide"
<Theresa> (There may be more Dionyl Aides.)
<Ftisk> "Maybe is better if is not a Dyonil one... your believes streght will overhelm him"
<Ftisk> "You know what the Aides are? Right?"
<Random_Nerd> G: "Frankly, I have far too much work to do already. I'm working on a crop of Nobles to handle such things, but they won't be ready for quite some time.
<DanteE> "That's the point of teh Aides, really. They do some of your work."
<DanteE> (Tpyo's playing with me.)
<Random_Nerd> G: "Who're they, again?"
<DanteE> "Luc Ginneis' group of ... let's say 'tempered' mortals who are trained to help out Nobles."
<Random_Nerd> G: "Luc who?"
<Ftisk> "They are an organization of helper for Nobles/Imperators the can supply trained personnel"
<DanteE> "Ginneis. He was an Anchor for a succession of Powers."
<Random_Nerd> G: "And they all died?"
<DanteE> "Ah... yes."
<Random_Nerd> G: "A little ominous."
<DanteE> "Well, we choose to focus on the experience it imparted to him."
<Random_Nerd> (It's time to stop, unless you want the rest of the conversation to be conducted with a sock puppet. Who can't type, just makes little sock-puppet noises at the screen.)
<DanteE> (OK by me)
<Ftisk> (ok)
<Theresa> (I like the puppet though. It's cute.)
=-= Theresa is now known as BethE
<DanteE> (Yeah, but he types worse than Tpyo.)
<Random_Nerd> _____________STOP____________
=-= YOU are now known as Angelo
<BethE> (He's quite fluent in draconic.)
=-= DanteE is now known as Knockwood
<BethE> (He can't help it that RN has a human keyboard.)
<Angelo> well... nice session!
<BethE> Indeed. I feel a little sorry for the guy. But it's nice he didn't want a brute force answer since of course he could do it himself.
<Knockwood> Well, we ... got something, I think.
<Angelo> yes i believe we gained a better understanding of him and a tip on AW
<BethE> And it will be interesting to see how his other estates pop up.
<Knockwood> THing is, it would seem to indicate that Samuel's really progressed with AW, if he actually could get a message through
<Angelo> yes, G was surprised
<Random_Nerd> One factor in your favor is that nobody is using AW right now. The conceptual wavelength is pretty much free and clear for you to use.
<Angelo> this can mean that we can get a really better AW that this....
<Angelo> oh, I mean we can trasmit a message that with parallel calculus and maybe rendundace protections
<Knockwood> Which also helps our original plan to communicate through the wall
<Angelo> can go to the other side maintaining a meaning
<Angelo> yes
<Angelo> also we can report our finding to entropy
<Angelo> or the court
<BethE> *nod*
<Knockwood> One thing, though: How much progress have we really made on the 'report' we're supposed to give to Entropy?
<BethE> Or get accused of collaborating.

<BethE> Weird.
<Random_Nerd> Huh. I got DCed, but Beth didn't.
<Knockwood> odd
<Angelo> yes weird, you are on the same adsl?
<Knockwood> might be your puter
<Random_Nerd> Perhaps. Doesn't usually do that, though.
<Knockwood> Right now I'm in a state where web pages won't load, but this works
<BethE> And I am in a state of half-asleep. Good game, guys!  :) See you next week!
<Knockwood> Next week Beth
<Angelo> well we can check some collaboration trial by the locust for a "after this line start collaboration"
<Angelo> ciao Beth
<Random_Nerd> Yeah. See you next week. Good session.
