{Angelo} Hi guys!
{Verithe} Hi!
{lazarus} hi!
{Random_Nerd} Oh, while we wait for Knock, there's something I'd like all of you to do with respect to your Estate before next week's session.
{lazarus} yes RN?
{Angelo} what RN?
{Random_Nerd} I'd like you to come up with a set of things that either instances of your estate /must/ do, /can't/ do, or /tends to/ do.
{BethE} Hi Angelo! *HUG*
{Random_Nerd} And assign points to each, based on how important they are.
{lazarus} such as?
{Random_Nerd} Seven points total.
{Random_Nerd} Like... numbers /must/ apply to either discrete objects or to units of measurement.
{Random_Nerd} Plants must photosynthesize.
{Random_Nerd} Plants tend to be useful.
{Random_Nerd} Machines are never alive.
{Random_Nerd} Stuff like that.
{BethE} Like how my Estate can't be too far from the plant product? Like I can do honey or tea but I can't do silk or those coffee beans that have to go through some cat's digestive tract?
{lazarus} ah, so ... aspects of the domains, not so much actions?
{Random_Nerd} Yeah.
{Random_Nerd} But "tend to" can lead to actions to some degree.
{Random_Nerd} Or, say, "Fire burns things."
{Angelo} urgh, this need that we *think*... _is_ dangerous!
{Verithe} Does the level of importance indicate a chance that the rule will be broken?
{Random_Nerd} How so?
--}| Knockwood (~chatzilla@24.205.206.IP) has joined #Nobilis
{Knockwood} Hi all
{lazarus} hey kwd.
{Verithe} I'm not sure. I'm just trying to figure out what the numbers would translate to.
{Angelo} Hi knock
{Knockwood} what numbers?
{Random_Nerd} I'll copypaste it to you, Knock.
{Verithe} Our homework. :)
{Random_Nerd} Higher numbers indicate that trait being more important to the estate.
{Knockwood} what range?
{Random_Nerd} Hmm....
{lazarus} my eyes are currently having issues with the whole focusing on words thing today.
{Random_Nerd} No more than 5 points at the most to any particular trait.
{lazarus} I might bow out early, thanks to that.
{Random_Nerd} Preferably less than that, unless it's something really important.
{Random_Nerd} No less than 1.
{Random_Nerd} 7 total points to assign.
{Random_Nerd} Anyway, if you could try to have those done by next week's session, and posted on your character pages on the wiki, I'd appreciate it.
{Verithe} Alright. :)
{lazarus} sure. I'll try to remember :p
{Knockwood} should write that down somewhere...
{BethE} Okie-dokie.
{Angelo} Oki
{Random_Nerd} Okay.
{Random_Nerd} Now, any questions before we start?
{BethE} When we had left off, Martyrs had left but I forget what we were doing.
{Angelo} For us with 2 Estates how this work?
{Random_Nerd} You had planned, I think, to see Ophaniel and Walter?
{lazarus} we were going to see an Imperator
{Random_Nerd} Define each of them in this way, please. Seven points each.
{Angelo} right
{Verithe} I believe I am currently questionless.
=-= BethE is now known as Theresa
=-= Knockwood is now known as DanteE
{Random_Nerd} So, cut to you guys arriving at the moon?
{Theresa} Oh yes, Imperator of Hounds, wasn't it?
=-= YOU are now known as Ftiskrand
{Random_Nerd} The Imperator of Hounds hasn't yet been located.
=-= Verithe is now known as Kite
=-= lazarus is now known as Brian
{Random_Nerd} _____________START____________________
{Theresa} Moon is fine.
{DanteE} We're talking to Ophaniel to see if she can help us with the lost pack memebrs...
{Kite} "I've never been to the Moon before!"
{Random_Nerd} Walter the Sheepdog meets you at the mother-of-pearl gates of the Moon.
{Brian} (my eyes are doing that "can't read words" thing again. Not so much I can't understand them, but I'm having a hard time focusing sufficient to distinguish letters and words. Yar)
{Random_Nerd} He's wearing a collar with a large silver star on the front.

  • Theresa waves. "Hi Walter!"

{Random_Nerd} (If you need to drop, it's fine.)
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "I heard you were coming, so I wanted to be here to meet you at the door."
{Brian} (nah, I'll stick around for a while, see if it gets better. I may be mostly mute, though...)
{Theresa} (Oh yeah, Kite visited _after_ Ftisk went ga-ga over Ophan.)
{Brian} (I'm not sure I ever visited the Moon)
{Theresa} "We received your message about feeling like you had forgotten something."
{Ftiskrand} (I visited )
{Random_Nerd} For those who don't remember him, Walter is a largish border collie. He's only able to talk in the Mythic.
{Kite} (Indeed!)
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Yeah. But I checked the Stacks, and my memory doesn't seem to be anywhere."
{Kite} "The Stacks?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "You know. Where the Lost Things are."
{Theresa} "We think someone may be messing with the memories of dogs."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Well that's just mean."
{DanteE} "Does it have anything to do with Mike Cook?"
{Kite} "Oh, of course!" *didn't know*
{Theresa} "Walter, this is Kite. He is the...litter mate of Ftisk."
{Brian} (afk a bit)
{Kite} "Hello, Walter."
{Random_Nerd} Walter has a nervous look for a moment. A "I think maybe I left the iron on at home, and also I'm not sure if I remembered to put on pants this morning" look.
{Ftiskrand} "Litter mate?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Mike Cook?"
{DanteE} "You know the name?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "I'm... not sure."
{Kite} "It's doggy slang for sibling, Ftiskrad."
{Theresa} *to Ftisk* "Dogs are born in litters. So their brothers and sisters are their litter-mates."
{DanteE} "hm... I wonder if memory of Mike will be in the stacks... along with the lost pack members."
{Ftiskrand} "ah, ok then"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Who is he?"
{Theresa} (Is he indicating Ftisk or Mike Cook?)
{Random_Nerd} (Oh, what does Ftisk look like, right now?)
{Theresa} "This is Ftisk's new form, Walter. He goes by Conrad now."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "No... I mean, this Mike guy. Who is he?"
{Ftiskrand} "Ftiskrand"

  • Theresa blinks.

{DanteE} "Good question. He's a human who became a dog, who is apparently to be looked after by... many, many dogs."
{Kite} "And we think he's what you forgot."
{Brian} "Mike Cook has a Rule in the Dog Rules to not let him die."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Hmm. What does he smell like?"
{DanteE} "That's a little tough to answer..."
{Kite} "I didn't get a swab of his urine..."
{Random_Nerd} W: "Anyway, you wanted to see the Stacks? If you make sure not to touch or take anything, I can take you there."
{Theresa} "Thank you, Walter. We will make sure not to take anything.
{Brian} (and done)
{Ftiskrand} "Are these stacks shiny?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "A lot of things in them are, yes."

  • Kite has sparkles in his eyes just thinking about the Stacks.)
  • Ftiskrand create a set of Kite manacles... just in case

{Random_Nerd} Walter leads you through the polished marble-and-granite halls.
{Theresa} ( :) And Kite will have to see the shiny Angel lady.)
{Random_Nerd} The Moon seems empty for some reason, even a little more than last time.
{DanteE} (OK, we determined that the Rule is in effect for 130 million dogs, but none within a 60 mile radius of Mike, except for his pack?)
{Random_Nerd} (Correct, as of when you checked.)
{Random_Nerd} (And 150 million dogs, if you count dogs not on earth.)
{DanteE} (OK, that has to indicate miraculous activity, doesn't it?)
{Random_Nerd} Walter's claws click on the floor tiles.
{Random_Nerd} (Does it?)
{DanteE} (How else could it happen?)
{Random_Nerd} (I don't know, how do you think it could happen?)
{Theresa} (Don't look at me, guys, I gave the GM caffeine...)
{Random_Nerd} Walter suddenly stops abruptly.
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Oh, oh no. Oh no..."
{DanteE} "What?"
{Brian} "Walter?"
{Random_Nerd} He starts running. For a moment, his paws have trouble getting traction on the polished floor. It'd be comical if he didn't look so worried.
{Kite} "Hmm?"
{Ftiskrand} "What happen Walter?"

  • Theresa will Aspectrun to keep up. "Is the Chancel under attack?"
  • DanteE takes off, following Walter...
  • Ftiskrand aspect follow Walter

{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Let me go! Don't look at me!"

  • Kite takes flight.

{Brian} "What is it Walter?"
{Kite} "What?"

  • Theresa shrugs and covers her eyes like a little child.

{Random_Nerd} Walter continues to run away.
{Random_Nerd} (And he doesn't seem to be running towards anything, so much as running away from all of you.)

  • DanteE does a Div-Courage on Walter...
  • Kite lands.
  • DanteE lands first
  • Ftiskrand let him take some distance but remain at line of sight range

{Random_Nerd} Walter is terrified that not only is he a Bad Dog, he didn't even /realize/ that he was.
{Random_Nerd} He doesn't want anyone, at least anyone human or canine, to look at him.
{Kite} (poor Walter)
{Theresa} (The he...wait, that's why we can't find the pack members. Bad dogs go _away_.)
{DanteE} Is it about Mike?
{Ftiskrand} (hey! I'm exSnail!)
{Random_Nerd} Yes, it is.
{Theresa} (And Kite's a birdy.)

  • Theresa peeks. "This isn't good."

{Random_Nerd} In the distance, you hear the clicking of Walter's claws stop.
{DanteE} "... somebody's screwing with the Mike directive to break up the pack...
{DanteE} "... it's an attack on Mike. Someone's trying to get him out of the way."
{Kite} "Maybe a nice steak will indicate that we don't think he's a bad dog."
{Random_Nerd} (Even if you don't think so, he still does.)
{DanteE} That also means Mike is Important with a capital I."
{DanteE} "Walter?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter howls mournfully.

  • Ftiskrand carefully approach him

{Random_Nerd} Those with Aspect 2 or better can hear the sound of wings beating. Somewhere rather far away, but getting closer.
{DanteE} (Ftisk doing something carefully? Yeah right... :) )
{Theresa} "We're making a lot of noise."
{DanteE} "... That's not Ophaniel..."

  • DanteE takes off to find Mike

{Kite} "What's not Ophaniel?"
{DanteE} "Something with big wings!"
{Random_Nerd} (For how Walter feels, imagine that you just realized that a week ago you ran over a kid with your car on your way to work, didn't really react much except to worry that it might have damaged the suspension, and then five seconds ago you thought back on it.)

  • Kite looks at the manacles Ftiskrand created.

{Kite} "And what are these for?"
{Random_Nerd} Dante, you find Walter, sitting in the middle of the hall with his head back, howling.
{Kite} "The Moon's a confusing place."
{DanteE} Walter?
{Ftiskrand} "For you if the urge to take something is too much" *wink*
{Random_Nerd} The wingbeats are getting closer.

  • DanteE looks for the wings...
  • Theresa looks around also, trying to think of something that would at least calm Walter down...

{Kite} "Thank you, Ftiskrad...rand...Brother."
{Random_Nerd} Dante, you see a large creature, humanoid in shape except for about a twenty-foot wingspan. It's a dark greenish-brown in color, wearing white shirt and pants but barefoot, revealing oddly clawed feet.
{Kite} "...Lady....Man....thing."
{Random_Nerd} It lands next to you.
{Random_Nerd} "Oh, hello, Courage. I didn't know you were visiting. Is Walter around?"
{DanteE} (Sight & Mythic?)

  • Ftiskrand weave at the creature

{Random_Nerd} (You met The Chase before, right?)
{DanteE} "Oh, Chase. Walter's right there...
{Theresa} "Walter is a bit upset at the moment." *frown* "We think someone may be altering the memories of dogs."
{DanteE} (Yeah, he talked to us about Lesson.)
{Random_Nerd} The Chase folds his white wings, and walks over to Walter, claws clicking on the floor.
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "What happened?"
{Theresa} (I had forgotten. You see one claw-footed winged guy, you've seen them all?)
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Don't look at me! I'm a bad dog!"
{Theresa} (Obviously someone has been messing with my memories! I'm a bad beth!)
{DanteE} "That's part of it. I think he just remembered something about Mike Cook..."
{Random_Nerd} The Chase: "Who?"
{Brian} (at least we're not playing a time travel game, then it would be a bad RN! *watching B5, one of the B4 episodes*)
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Is... is he okay?"
{Kite} "He's fine, Walter."
{DanteE} "We just saw him, Walter...
{Brian} "He's mostly ok, Walter"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "DON'T GIVE ME 'MOSTLY'! IS HE OKAY?"
{DanteE} to Chase: "Someone Important to dogs."
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Huh. Walter's never mentioned him before."

  • Ftiskrand lc a digital frame with Mike pictures in it

{Ftiskrand} "look Walter. These are Mike's pictures"
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Oh, another dog?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter looks at the picture.
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "He's a dog? Huh. I always pictured him as a human."
{DanteE} "Not always.
{Brian} "Not quite. He's a man who got ... inserted into a dog"
{Random_Nerd} Walter stops howling.
{Kite} To Chase: "Sort of...not quite."
{DanteE} "60 years ago he was human."
{Theresa} "We think a Noble or Imperator has put a protection of this Mike Cook into every dog. But now someone else is messing with their memories so they forget...and if they remember, they react like Walter about being a 'bad dog'."
{DanteE} "Chase, considering the overlap between your estates... do you know Hounds?"
{Ftiskrand} "So Walter, you are being _maipulated_. You are not a bad dog"
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "We've met."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "But I forgot. I didn't even know the name when you said it."
{DanteE} "... and just now remembered?"
{Ftiskrand} To Chase: "You know how reach Hounds?"
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "I'm the corporeal embodiment of the idea of chasing things down. I'm good at finding people."
{DanteE} "Hang on..."
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "I was good at finding people back when I was a regular demon, for that matter."
{Ftiskrand} "ohhh, right"

  • DanteE tries a WitchHunt Rite on Walter's head...

{Random_Nerd} Walter lies on the floor.
{Random_Nerd} (What's your spirit, and what level of miracle are you using along with the rite?)
{DanteE} "Let's see if I can find someone screwing with his memories..."
{DanteE} (Spirit 2)
{Theresa} "Chase, what would a copper crown bolted into someone's head mean to you?"
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Um... copper, so, authority, but not much. Bolted on, so, authority someone doesn't want to have, but still does?"
{Random_Nerd} (Along with the Rite, are you using The Sight to look for major miracles, or a Domain 5 miracle to look for lesser miracles?)
{Theresa} "Sounds right. Apparently dogs have been protecting this guy his whole life. Until his best dog friend had to do the extreme."
{DanteE} (Hm... anything appear to the Sight?)
{Random_Nerd} (Nope.)
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "And... he turned into a dog?"
{Brian} "He was kind of inserted into the dog"
{Theresa} "The dog...have you ever seen the movie Star Wars?"
{DanteE} "Then they fused, and I think he's been a dog ever since... though he has to change skins periodically."
{DanteE} "Empire Strikes Back."
{DanteE} "It's all about Chases, you ought to know it..."
{Random_Nerd} (Oh, and before you try the higher miracle level, you'd already know that a bigger miracle would only show up if it was either a very difficult miracle for the miracle-user to do, or if it was within the last day or so.)
{Theresa} (*waves hand* What-ever.  ;) )
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "I've seen Star Wars. Nobody turned into a dog in it."
{Theresa} "Think tauntaun."
{DanteE} (Except, the dog did it himself, right?)
{Random_Nerd} (Yes.)
{Theresa} (Yep. So selftauntauning.)
{DanteE} (Hm... Ftisk, you've got twice my Spirit. Can you check out Walter?
{DanteE} (I'm going on the assumption that whatever messed with his memory is traceable, but RN seems to say no...)
{Ftiskrand} (yes but you had to ask me first)
{Theresa} "And after a while, the host body starts dying and Cook has to keep replacing it."
{Random_Nerd} (The table for this is on page 123.)
{Random_Nerd} (For a domain miracle done as a simple miracle, it lasts miracle level in minutes.)
{DanteE} "Ftisk? You see anything miraculous affecting Walter?"
{Random_Nerd} (For one done as a normal miracle, it lasts miracle level in hours.)
{Ftiskrand} "wait"

  • Ftiskrand do the witchhunt rite on Walter

{Random_Nerd} (For the trace to last multiple days, it'd need to have been at least a Hard miracle for the user.)
{Random_Nerd} (And since you already checked for Greater miracles...)
{Ftiskrand} (ok, but the miracle affected Walter joust few moments ago)
{DanteE} (And something just occurred to me... if the original act was an act of Love, and was witnessed by you-know-who?)
{Random_Nerd} (The only miracles that affected Walter just a few minutes ago were one of Dante's and one of The Chase's.)
{Theresa} (Would Entropy care about love between a man and his dog?)
{Random_Nerd} (He might.)
{Random_Nerd} (If something brought it to his attention.)
{DanteE} (But Mike was hard to spot before fusing with his dog, so he was 'special' for a long time, right?)
{Random_Nerd} The Chase: "Now, I don't really know dogs, other than Walter. To what degree is this sort of thing normal?"
{Ftiskrand} "sorry, no miracles other than ours"
{Random_Nerd} (Correct, even before fusing with his dog, Mike had anchorlike immunity to direct miracles.)
{Ftiskrand} "Well, this is not normal for dogs"
{DanteE} "Well, the bad-dog reaction is standard, but what's behind it is very odd."
{Theresa} "Apparently a dog once saved his life when he was a kid and then his dog gave its own life for him. And now his pack is dying for him."
{DanteE} "... which adds someone to our suspect list..."
{DanteE} "Hang on."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "I think I need to check the sheep. I can still do /that/, at least."
{DanteE} "Walter?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter starts to slink away.
{DanteE} "Wait.
{Random_Nerd} He stops.
{DanteE} "You're not a bad dog. Someone is messing with your head."

  • Theresa crouches down. "Walter, I know you don't believe it, but I think you're a good dog."

{Random_Nerd} Walter: "It isn't about what you think."
{Brian} "Mike is ok, Walter."
{DanteE} "What is it, then?"
{Brian} "He's alive"
{Ftiskrand} "Is there a feelings Noble? Can he be behind all this?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "I forgot about something important. I forgot my duty. Dogs aren't supposed to do that."
{DanteE} "That's right... you're not supposed to do that. Which means something _made_ you do it."
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Walter, is your memory in the Stacks?"
{Kite} "Duty?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "No. Checked for it earlier, when I was trying to remember it."
{Theresa} (We know Duty...)
{Ftiskrand} "We know one Duty!"
{Brian} "Can you check for Mike Cook in the stacks? Anyone's memory of him?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "All I found in my file was a bunch of bones, chew toys, that kind of thing."
{DanteE} "Yeah, Kant.
{DanteE} "Why would Kant do this?"
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Hold on. If he just forgot about it, it should have been in his file."
{Ftiskrand} "I don't know, but is worth ask him"
{DanteE} "Which means he _didn't_ just forget about it..."
{Kite} "His memory has been stolen! Or...or eaten!"
{Ftiskrand} "Well, he never know before we say the Mike name"
{DanteE} "But... it just came back."
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "What'd you do to make it come back?"
{Kite} "It was regurgitated?"
{Theresa} "So they're messing with multiple estates, then?"
{Ftiskrand} to Chase: "We just ask if he know Mike Cook"
{Theresa} "We mentioned the name Mike Cook. That brought it back. But Walter was already thinking he had forgotten something. He sent us a message. Maybe he has some immunity to whatever it is up here."
{DanteE} (Do we know a Power of Memory?)
{Ftiskrand} "Being on the moon give immunity? uhm"
{Random_Nerd} (Don't think there is one.)
{Random_Nerd} (At least, established in this game.)
{DanteE} "Not immunity, he still got 'hit'."
{Ftiskrand} "But after a decent delay. Not as soon as we say Mike"
{DanteE} "Just... considerably later than, say, the original members of Mike's pack."
{Theresa} "But he felt uneasy, he noticed he had forgotten."
{Ftiskrand} "uhm"
{DanteE} "Walter? Tell us about Mike Cook?"
{Ftiskrand} "If is a miraculous effect... wouldn't it be instantaneous?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "He's, like, this guy. He's important. Gotta keep him safe."
{DanteE} "According to who?"
{Brian} "That's what all the others said too"
{Theresa} (The Rules.)
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "It's not that sort of thing."
{Theresa} "It's what makes them dogs, Dante."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Nobody needs to /tell/ you about..."
{Random_Nerd} And then he hangs his head.
{Theresa} "Walter, I'm sorry. We don't know what it's like being a dog."
{Brian} "Walter? Are you ok?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "That's not it. I had to be told."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "I forgot it until you told me"
{Theresa} (Ah. Ouch.)
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "You said that the Imperator of Hounds knew something about this, but you couldn't find him?"
{DanteE} "We're guessing that Hounds is involved...
{Brian} "Or might be able to find out"
{Theresa} "We're really just trying any lead."
{DanteE} "Which would seem to make sense, considering whatever happened messed with a Dog Rule."
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "I'll go looking for him, then."
{DanteE} Hold on...
{DanteE} "Describe him?"
{Brian} (that would be hilarious. Mike Cook was the Imperator of Hounds, but simply ... forgot)
{Theresa} (I wouldn't think that he would bolt his crown on. And bronze wouldn't fit with an Imperator.)
{DanteE} (Unless it's a really successful Ex attack.)
{Ftiskrand} (and the color in the sight is all wrong too)
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Usually looks human. Tall guy, skinny. Short hair, last time I saw him. Dark skin, darker than mine. Dressed normally for the human social context."
{Brian} (still would be hilarious, no? :p)
{Ftiskrand} "Can he be Mike father?"
{DanteE} "You know how long he's been Hounds?"
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Way longer than I've been around. Maybe as long as dogs have. Not sure."
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "No, let me think. Can't be quite that long... maybe a thousand years? Something like?"
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Why?"
{Ftiskrand} "So he can have been Mike father!!"
{Theresa} "Nah, Mike's been doing the dog transfer thing for only 60 years."
{DanteE} "Well, Mike and his dog fused about 60 years ago...
{DanteE} "Before that, he was... (how old?)"
{Ftiskrand} "Nobles can travel in time Dante"
{Random_Nerd} (Mid thirties.)
{Random_Nerd} (This isn't a Noble, but an Imperator, that's being discussed.)
{Brian} "Besides, if he was still alive, there's quite a chance that he'd still be fertile..."
{DanteE} "So, born sometime around 1910."
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Hmm?"
{Ftiskrand} (yep, but if nobles can travel, imp cant??)
{Random_Nerd} (More or less.)
{Random_Nerd} (I don't quite see where you're getting the time travel angle from.)
{DanteE} "Doing the math. Mike Cook was born to a human mother and an unknown father around 1910, became a dog in the 1940s, has had to switch skins periodically ever since...
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Yeah?"
{DanteE} "He had immunity to my divination the entire time, so he was definitely Special."
{Ftiskrand} (from the Chase Dante discussion, they say that the time slots don't fits so I thinked of time travel)
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "So, you think his dad was an Imperator?"
{Brian} "It's a possibility."
{Brian} "We haven't ruled anything out yet."
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "It happens. With some types, at least. Dragons, gods... not so much. But a Magister... yeah, it happens."
{DanteE} "How else could he be blank to a divination without being a Noble or Anchor?"
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "He'd have to have something weird in his family tree, at least. Noble, Imperator, Outsider... something."
{Theresa} (For example, our Odin friend.)
{Ftiskrand} (yep)
{DanteE} (or the Giant Son-Of-Azrael)
{Random_Nerd} (Well, Ken Duncan doesn't really fit into The Chase's explanation.)
{Random_Nerd} (The Giant does, though.)
{DanteE} "And Hounds has to be involved for there to be a Protect-Mike directive in so many dogs."
{Ftiskrand} "Or a deceiver with hound like powers?"
{DanteE} "for 60 years?"
{Ftiskrand} "right, Dante... 60 maybe too much for a deceiver..."
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Listen, I'm not really good with the planning stuff. I find things. I'm going to go find someone."
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Anything you need before I go?"
{DanteE} "Oh... we still wanted to look over the Stacks."
{Brian} "Chase, if I asked you to find the son of Hounds, could you do it without knowing who he is?"
{Kite} "What sort of fish are there on the moon?"
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Walter, do you think you can show them to the Stacks on your own?"
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "If you do, it'll let me go me find someone who might be able to help Mike. That way, you'll be helping him."
{Random_Nerd} Walter gives The Chase a "I see what you're doing there, and while it is working, I just wanted you to know that I'm not an idiot" look.
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Good enough."
{Brian} "Well, then, go find the son of the Imperator of Hounds. If he has one."
{Random_Nerd} Chase: "Going to find the Imperator first. Even if he's not your guy's dad, he's at least got an interest in this."
{Brian} "Sure."
{DanteE} (Did Ftisk look over any Data on Mike, aside from his birth certificate?)
{Random_Nerd} (He found his military records, I think.)
{Ftiskrand} (nope)
{Theresa} (I thought he also saw the divorce stuff.)
{Ftiskrand} (don't remember how we get these info)
{DanteE} (Hang on, that's what logs are for.)
{DanteE} (Session 169. Service record, divorce decree, arrest for vagrancy.)
{Random_Nerd} (And the birth certificate, too.)
{Ftiskrand} (wunderbar!)
{DanteE} (Come to think of it... I was able to see the dog, right? That means Tyler didn't have immunity... so how did he do what he did?)
{Kite} (Woo!)
{Random_Nerd} Chase unfolds his wings and starts to fly towards the gates.
{Random_Nerd} (Correct. Tyler was, as far as you could tell, entirely mundane.)
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Anyway. Stacks this way."
{Brian} (temporarily granted gift?)

  • Brian will head to the stacks

{DanteE} (Sam's with us, right?)

  • Theresa follows Walter. "So it's organized by file?"

{Theresa} (I don't think we were bringing him to this one. He was trying to get an interview with Hounds, I thought.)
{DanteE} (ah yeah)
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Part of it is, at least. Stuff lost by humans, dogs, that kind of person."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "But when people who don't have names lose things, we don't really file those anywhere special."
{Kite} "Birds?"
{Random_Nerd} (Yeah, Sam's in Amyra, trying to locate Hounds for you.)
{DanteE} "Probably a gazillion nuts lost by squirrels..."
{Brian} "I'm intrigued to know what I lost"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "You're a Noble, so your stuff will be in the Private Stacks. I'd have to ask for a key."
{Random_Nerd} Walter walks along, seeming to be feeling a little better.
{Ftiskrand} "Ohh, privates stacks"
{Theresa} "May we see where your's is, Walter?"
{DanteE} "Right now we're looking for memories lost by dogs, and dogs lost to the pack."
{Kite} "Special stacks!"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Sure, we can swing by there, I know where that is. But really, I mostly just look after the sheep."
{Brian} "I'd still like to take a look at mine if we could before we leave"
{Brian} "Are those Bo Peep's Sheep?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Don't know. Probably. We have a lot of sheep."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Just so you know, time, space, that kind of thing can be strange in the Stacks."
{Brian} "People who lost hours?"
{Theresa} "Can stuff that we lose in the future already be in the Stacks?"
{Random_Nerd} In the direction you're headed, you hear a faint roaring sound, like a metal waterfall.
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Don't know. Maybe."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "But, like, a lot of the stuff is here /and/ it's on earth. Not all of it, some's just here, but a lot is in both places."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "The stuff that'll get found, you know?"
{Kite} "Oooh! Sounds exciting!"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "And remember not to mess with anything. It could be bad."
{Theresa} "Do you have a section for socks?"

  • Kite wiggles his feathers in excitement.

{Random_Nerd} Walter leads you around a corner and through a doorway. Above a granite arch is the angelic word for "Receiving."
{Brian} "Kite, remember, no touching."
{DanteE} "Same to you, Brian.
{Kite} "I promise."

  • Kite lies.

{DanteE} "Same to all of us, in fact."

  • Ftiskrand look around a lot

{Random_Nerd} He goes up to a closed door.
{Brian} "I don't particularly plan to touch anything..."
{Random_Nerd} Unlike all the rest of the environment, which is stone, this door is made of thick and somewhat dented steel. Set in the wall, next to it, is a camera lens and a door-knocker.
{Random_Nerd} Walter stands on his hind legs, and lifts the knocker with his nose, then lets it drop.

  • Ftiskrand wait

{Random_Nerd} Walter: "It's me. I have some guests who want to see the Stacks. I cleared it with Mister Shiny."
{Random_Nerd} He lowers his upper body back to the floor.
{DanteE} "Mister Shiny?"
{Random_Nerd} After a moment, the door makes an unlatching noise, and then slides open.
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Long story."
{Kite} "Mr. Shiny...."
{Ftiskrand} ".. who is Mr. Shiny?"
{DanteE} "and should we keep him away from Kite, or should they meet? :) )

  • Theresa waves at the camera. "Thank you!"

{Random_Nerd} Walter walks in the door.

  • DanteE follows Walter...
  • Ftiskrand follow
  • Kite dashes in after Dante.

{Random_Nerd} Inside, it looks like a shiny white-and-grey neoclassical warehouse loading dock.
{Random_Nerd} Packages are coming in on rollers through the walls. People are checking the labels, marking them on a list, and moving them to various workstations.
{Random_Nerd} The people here are 80% human, 10% dionyl, 5% demonic, and 5% "other."

  • Theresa looks around, interested.

{Random_Nerd} Walter: "And before you ask, we can move stuff, touch stuff. We're staff, so it doesn't count the same way."
{DanteE} "Bet some 3-armed guys would help here."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Don't know any of those."
{Ftiskrand} "Reaaly busy.. and ... organized... I like the place!"
{Kite} "Are you offering a donation, Dante?"
{DanteE} "Let's start with the dogs' memories..."
{DanteE} to Kite: "Just keeping it in mind should we need it."
{Random_Nerd} A few of the workers wave to Walter.

  • Kite looks around for anything interesting/shiny.

{Random_Nerd} He nods at them.
{Brian} "Would there be a file for the Dogs' Rules?"
{Random_Nerd} Kite, about one third of the total things visible to you are interesting, shiny, or both.
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Those aren't lost."
{Kite} "Hoho!"
{Theresa} "Down, Kite."
{Brian} "But if any of the Rules got lost?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "I guess I can check in Archives."
{Ftiskrand} (we are doomed, we are in ...a kleptomaniac bird heaven...)
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "But before we do that, you wanted to see my file?"
{Brian} "Yep"

  • Kite places his wingtips in his beak as an indication he'll be good.

{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Oh, and don't step across any colored lines on the ground."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "It could be bad."

  • Kite reaches a foot toward the nearest shiny thing.

{Theresa} (So he's just hopping along?)
{Random_Nerd} Walter leads you through the receiving department to what looks like a bunch of freight elevators.
{Kite} (He's stopped)

  • Ftiskrand keeps an eye on Kite
  • DanteE checks out the ground...
  • Kite is reaching....reaching.....

{Random_Nerd} He stops at one of a set of metal doors. The hallway you're in has about twelve pairs of elevator-like doors.

  • Ftiskrand nudges Kite "stop please"
  • Theresa will follow Walter.

{Random_Nerd} The floor is of the same sort of marble-and-granite tile that the rest of the Moon you've seen is, but here they're scratched up, dirty, and in some places, there are thick lines painted along them.
{Kite} "But...but..."
{Ftiskrand} "Kite, we follow?"
{Random_Nerd} Next to the door he's stopped at, there are three large buttons set in the wall, one at human waist height, one about seven feet up, and one at dog nose height.
{Random_Nerd} Walter presses the lowest one, and there's a rumble from the other side of the door.

  • Kite sighs and follows, keeping a mental record of the location of that specific Shiny Thing.

{Theresa} (What are the lines like? Anything in particular?)

  • Ftiskrand follows, after Kite

{Random_Nerd} (Mostly straight lines, interrupted by curves. Many of them have tire tracks of some sort on either side of the line.)
{Theresa} (Makes sense if this goes to human, dog and...something 7 foot tallish lost stuff.)
{DanteE} (How tall is Chase?)
{Random_Nerd} (If he's standing on the ground, six feet or a little more.)
{Random_Nerd} (His wings are much wider than that, though.)
{Ftiskrand} (and he uses the tip of the wing to press the button?)
{Random_Nerd} Walter leads you into something that looks like a cross between a freight elevator, a cable car, and a ski lift.
{Random_Nerd} There are benches, a steel cage surrounding it, and a set of controls.

  • Ftiskrand turn toward a corner and lc a shiny thing replica

{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Could one of you work the buttons? Paws aren't much good at it."

  • Ftiskrand give it to Kite "shush, I never give this to you..." *wink*
  • Kite squawks happily.

{Kite} "Thank you!"
{DanteE} "Where to?"

  • Brian will operate the controls. "How, and where, Walter?"
  • Ftiskrand tries the impassible face

{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Let's see. Dogs, living, residing on the moon. 542DL17, and then pull the big lever."

  • Brian does so

{Random_Nerd} When you pull the lever, a steel cage slides in over the way you came in, and the conveyance wizzes off into the darkness on a thick cable.
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "And before you ask, yes, they could do all this with miracles. But if you do it with people, there's a lot of eyes and brains watching to spot if things start to go wrong."
{Theresa} "I would think that trying to do it with miracles would be tiring."
{Random_Nerd} The elevator-cable-car-thing continues to speed up, and the wind whistles through the cage.
{DanteE} "Just considering the sheer volume of lost stuff..."
{Theresa} (Up and through! Sorry, Wonka moment.)
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "I'm led to believe that a sizable portion of the interior is taken up with the Stacks."
{Ftiskrand} "But the moon is empty inside? ah, right"
{Random_Nerd} Above, a piece of machinery clanks into place, and you pass from one cable to another.
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Don't worry, they make sure the mass and stuff read the way they should, so people back on earth don't get suspicious."
{Random_Nerd} Another piece of machinery clanks, and you start to slow down.
{Ftiskrand} "But the Moon colonization program failure... was you?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Wasn't me personally. Don't know if it was them."
{Random_Nerd} The elevator-thing comes to a stop, next to a dark wall.
{DanteE} "Shouldn't matter, that's the Prosaic Moon."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Sure, but we're still really here."
{Ftiskrand} "Yes, I mean was your.. someone... " *wave hand* "that put it to stop?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Okay, now press the blue button. Not the green one, the blue one."
{Kite} "You know, some cultures don't differentiate between green and blue."
{Brian} "This one?" *points at the blue* *presses it*
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Some species don't, either."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Yeah, that one."
{Ftiskrand} "well, I know that European green and blue are not the USA green and blue"
{DanteE} "So, you can't differentiate them?"
{Random_Nerd} The cage side lifts, and the door clanks open.
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Well, I can see green. And the blue one is brighter than any of the other buttons."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Besides, I know which side it's on. Third from the right, six from the top."
{Ftiskrand} "handy"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "And here we are, lost possessions of living lunar dogs."
{Random_Nerd} Walter walks out into a moderately shiny but somewhat scuffed warehouse.
{DanteE} "OK, let's see what's in your box...
{DanteE} "When's the last time you looked?"
{Random_Nerd} The shelves go up farther than unaided human eyesight could follow, and farther into the back.

  • Ftiskrand follow full of curiosity

{Random_Nerd} Based on the size of this place, either lunar dogs misplace a lot of stuff, or there are substantially more dogs on the moon than most people suppose.
{Brian} (I'm now falling asleep ... are we going to end soonish?)
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "This way."
{Random_Nerd} (We can call it a night if you want.)
{Ftiskrand} "how many dogs are on moon?"
{Brian} (after finding out what's in the box?)
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "I don't know. A lot."
{DanteE} (So, howling at the moon is canine for 'yo, bros!" :) )

  • Kite wanders toward the shiniest object in sight.
  • DanteE grabs Kite....

{Kite} "Grrk!"
{Random_Nerd} Walter walks over to one of the shelves, and onto a six foot by six foot platform with a lever.
{DanteE} "Be nice, we don't want _more_ angels mad at us..."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "All aboard."

  • Ftiskrand try to use the cuff on Kite wing

{Kite} "More?"
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Nearly there."

  • DanteE floats alongside the platform...

{Random_Nerd} He pushes the lever in, and the platform rises up about twenty yards.

  • Theresa gets carefully onto the platform.

{Theresa} (Before it takes off.)
{Random_Nerd} He stops it at a cargo container.
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Could one of you pull it open?"

  • Ftiskrand mutters about the ineffectiveness of cuffs for wings...

{Random_Nerd} (There's a handle near the bottom of a sliding door.)

  • Ftiskrand float after the platform with Kite
  • Theresa will pull the handle.

{Random_Nerd} It's a container about the size of one semi truck's load.

  • Brian will be on the platform by the time it moves up

{Kite} "Have you lost a lot of things or is this just the standard size?"
{Random_Nerd} Inside are a number of large containers. The largest is labeled "Hair" in angelic. There are also containers labeled "Bones", "Toys," and "Intangibles."

  • Ftiskrand giggle

{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Pretty standard."
{Ftiskrand} "Intangible? What's inside?"
{DanteE} "Let's have a look at the Intangibles...

  • Brian will look at the Intangibles

{Random_Nerd} The Intangibles container looks like a filing cabinet.
{Random_Nerd} It's the smallest of the containers in here. In comparison, the Hair one is about the size of a dumpster.

  • Ftiskrand ldiv the intangible content

{Ftiskrand} (data cover this?)
{Theresa} (If we let Kite into the hair, he'll nest...)
{Random_Nerd} While much of it does not fall into the estate of Data, the index in the top drawer does.
{Ftiskrand} (let's read the index then)
{Kite} (Of course, Theresa!)
{Random_Nerd} It contains memories, ideas, curses, blessings, time, and space.
{Ftiskrand} (one can lose space???)

  • Ftiskrand recites the full index aloud

{Random_Nerd} (According to the index, Walter has lost seventeen cubic centimeters.)
{Random_Nerd} (It doesn't say how or why.)
{Theresa} (Of course! You look around and realize that you have all of this _stuff_ and where are you going to put it all?)
{DanteE} (Workouts. :) )
{Random_Nerd} (Nah, that would be "Body Mass." That's a bin in the back.)
{DanteE} "I think we want the first two..."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "It's not in here, though. I checked. Even got the bosslady to do a divination for me."
{Random_Nerd} (Anything before we stop?)
{Theresa} "Wow, that's important."
{Random_Nerd} Walter: "Well, I was upset. And she likes me."
{DanteE} "There still might be something in there that can help us..."
{Ftiskrand} "Kite.... do you nest?"
{DanteE} "Plus, 'lost ideas' sounds ... intriguing."
{Theresa} (I'm good.)
{Brian} (I'm good)
{Kite} "Not usually on my own, but if there's a lot of hair lying around, it needs to be assembled into /something/."
{DanteE} (Start from here next time?)
{Random_Nerd} (Sure.)
{DanteE} (OK)
{Random_Nerd} _____________________STOP_________________________
{Ftiskrand} (ok for me... before the air battle begin...)
=-= Brian is now known as lazarus
=-= YOU are now known as Angelo
=-= Kite is now known as Verithe
{Random_Nerd} Sorry that so much time got spent in the descriptions of the Stacks and your trip through them.
=-= DanteE is now known as Knockwood
{Angelo} why? I like these descr
{lazarus} nah, I like description like that. I'm just unusually tired today. Not exactly sure why.
=-= Theresa is now known as BethE
{Angelo} and your eyes are going... better laz?
{Verithe} Kite /will/ grab something he shouldn't before we leave. I just know it.
{Knockwood} I'm OK with it...
{BethE} I like your descriptions too, dear.
{lazarus} eyes are just tired, Angelo. Be better tomorrow, probably. Anyway, g'night everyone.
{Knockwood} g'night laz
{--| lazarus has left #Nobilis
{Angelo} well, kite will want to take the air nest with him?
{Verithe} Nah. He doesn't care about taking hair.
{Angelo} ok
{Knockwood} and it's not like we don't have loads back in Amyra...
{Angelo} ah, RN, can I spend CP in each moment I want or just between sessions?
{Random_Nerd} Either.
{Random_Nerd} But if you want to get a Gift, better to do it between sessions so we can work out the details.
{Angelo} good
{Angelo} but if I want something like Durant or Elemental, standard GWB stuff is ok during session, right?
{Random_Nerd} Yeah.
{Random_Nerd} Just tell me you're getting it.
{Knockwood} aren't you already basically Elemental?
{Angelo} ah, the Glorious gift emanate an aura of... ‘something’... is Ftisk-ness qualify as ‘something’?
{Random_Nerd} You'd need to define it a bit more than "ftiskness."
{Angelo} yes Knock, but was only an example
{Knockwood} yes. We call it "WTF". :)
{Angelo} WTF ... lol
{Verithe} I agree with Knock. "WTF"
{Angelo} uhm.. see... weirdness
{Angelo} silliness!
{Verithe} Yes. That too.
{Angelo} is there a word for weirdness + silliness?=
{Random_Nerd} Anyway, see you next week.
{Random_Nerd} And remember the estate definition thing.
{BethE} I will try to think of a word.
{Verithe} Take care, RN!
{Angelo} ok, bye RN!
{Knockwood} Then again, how would the people you aim it act react? :)
{Random_Nerd} Good session, guys.
{BethE} Night, all! *HUG*
{Knockwood} cya RN
|{-- Random_Nerd has left irc.magicstar.net (Disintegrated: )
{Knockwood} you too Beth
{Angelo} Night Beth
{Angelo} *HUG*
{Verithe} Take care, Beth!
|{-- BethE has left irc.magicstar.net (Disintegrated: All shall love me and despair?)
{Angelo} good question knw
{Angelo} but I like glorious... :-/
{Angelo} classical auras as awe, glory etc don’t think that fit Ftisk.
{Knockwood} Hope had the 'Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair' version...
{Knockwood} which encouraged them to, well, follow her and do what she said.
{Knockwood} what exactly would a Glory of WTF prompt people to do? :)
{Angelo} Hope from looong ago?
{Verithe} Force them to obey, just in case the WTF is infectious.
{Angelo} I don't know... an dizyness aura?
{Knockwood} Do you want an aura of "Do what he says! He's CRAZY!" :)
{Angelo} yes please!
{Verithe} It sounds appropriate.
{Angelo} and the word for that aura is?
{Knockwood} criminally insane...
{Angelo} rotfl!
{Angelo} Knockwood! :-P
{Knockwood} might fit, though, under the standard Glory. It'd just be specially Ftisk-flavored. :D
{Angelo} well, let's ask RN if is ok for him then. :-D
{Knockwood} and now we've got to figure out what our Domains actually _are_...
{Angelo} eh... I know
{Verithe} Assembly must: ....
{Angelo} Data culdn't
{Angelo} Is a smart move from RN side...
{Verithe} It's helpful all around.
{Angelo} we gain more familiarity with our estates
{Knockwood} you realize it'll make it easier for RN to send bad guys to attack us...
{Angelo} well, *everything* will help him
{Verithe} Yes, but we need that from time to time.
{Verithe} Otherwise, we won't have a game.
{Angelo} and what is a game without baddies?
{Angelo} ditto V.
{Knockwood} so, what do you think is going on?
{Angelo} aaaand he doesn’t is the HG that sends us against hordes of excrus...
{Angelo} uhm.. hell if I know...
{Angelo} we can all do the homework and Knock(on)wood :-P
{Verithe} I think something's trying to grant Mike his wish while simultaneously attacking something like Hounds....I think....
{Knockwood} I should try and come up with some sort of figure-shit-out Gift
{Angelo} BUT if really want to see how this will link to the grand scheme (tm)
{Angelo} figure-shit-out?
{Knockwood} ayep. So we don't go through half the session with well, this.. and this... is it this? Or this?
{Angelo} But is the main thing we do
{Angelo} and I don't think is possible to gift-ize that
{Verithe} We could try splitting up and tackling multiple leads at once.
{Angelo} right V.
{Knockwood} (Never split the party! :) )
{Angelo} naaah, we are Powers not humans
{Verithe} That's another reason I'm looking into getting an Anchor or three.
{Angelo} good. so we split and with each other go the anchors...
{Angelo} might work :-)
{Knockwood} until the Anchors get eaten
{Angelo} anchors are replaceable.
{Verithe} Poor Anchors.
{Angelo} well, I don't cry if someone eat dollphaniel
{Knockwood} hm... maybe Ftisk can create some robots, and you can Anchor them
{Angelo} but the emotional attachment need?
{Knockwood} (Then again... there's the webcomic 'Questionable Content' which has anthroPCs as characters... :) )
{Angelo} link?
{Verithe} Well, I'm considering one of my Anchors to be a fish person and one may or may not be my Aide.
{Angelo} so one half fish one half human
{Angelo} like the ones temporarily in channel?
{Knockwood} questionablecontent.net
{Angelo} grazie K.
{Knockwood} Looking for the strip which intro'd one of them...
{Verithe} Yeah. One of the one sin the Chancel. Kite's a bit upset at them since he can't eat them.
{Knockwood} here it is: http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1298
{Angelo} well, enroll them to show you the best fishing places ;-)
{Knockwood} (and it helps a little if you know the blonde girl has ridiculous OCD...)
{Angelo} ocd?
{Knockwood} obsessive-compulsive disorder
{Angelo} well, I head out. good day/night
{Verithe} Take care!
{Knockwood} g'nigth Angelo
{Knockwood} also, Tpyo says Ih.
