«Brian» "Sam, IF Shirk's power works on proximity, AND that is the greatest concentration, THEN it is most probable that's where he came through, yes?"
«Random_Nerd» Sam: "I don't know. I don't know how these things work. I would have /expected/ them to be near wherever he's physically located at the moment."

Sam says that the area with the biggest concentration of 'Shirkings' is below a weak point in the Wall. We're interested in what that area is like now - if it's still just weak, or if it's a full blown hole."

«Brian» (RH) "Got any ideas?"
«DanteE» "We've seen the spirit realm."
«Theresa» (Wasn't that when we were inside an Imperator's memories?)

«Random_Nerd» Kudzu: "There are no full holes in the wall. Just places where it's easier to break through, if enough force is applied."
«Theresa» "We grew up together. We knew each other very well and we complimented each other. I mean, his flaws worked well with my flaws and my talents worked well with his talents."

«Random_Nerd» (If you mean the bit with Ja Phon and Ebrot Appeka, that wasn't the spirit world, just the deep mythic.)

«Brian» (RH) "How could we test the solidity of the Wall at that point, or what other significance that spot may have? I'm drawing a blank, because either we push out into Outside, or open the way for a Full Excrucian, and both of those are way above our paygrade."

«Random_Nerd» Kudzu: "There are two ways to test the solidity of the wall there. Try to go through yourself, or get whoever's guarding it to relax and hope an Excrucian tries to get through."

«Theresa» "If you haven't flaws, you also need to be accepting of flaws in your beloved. Either by working with the flaws or by working with your love to change the flaws. But you can't count on the change and even then the changes might not be into what you want." (Theresa sounds like she is reciting something she has been told.)
«Random_Nerd» Kudzu: "If it's extremely important, I can bring you to see it, but I doubt the sight would be very illuminating."
«Theresa» "It's very much a working together. You often have to be able to live with them. Sexual compatability is also a good test to make."
«Ftisk» "Dating... what count on changing Dante?" *snort*
«Theresa» (Theresa is a little weirded out on the talk, but hey, it's something she can deal with while she isn't good with the travel planning moments.)
«Brian» (RH) "Mostly we just don't know how Shirk's power works. Dante reminds me that this is the greatest concentration of _ongoing_ Shirkings. We have a fair amount of data, and not much connecting the points."

«Theresa» "That's the test of relationships, Ftisk. If they are worth so much to you...you make them work. You give everything you can to make it work. And if the other person doesn't want to make it all work, there's nothing you can do."

«Brian» (RH) "Is it possible that this is just a physical manifestation, and he's maintaining a presence Outside, with a connection through there? Ok, of course it's /possible/, but is it at all likely?"

• Ftisk shouting: "DANTE! Do you want to make our relationship WORK??????"
  

«Theresa» "Humans deal and change in a much slower time-frame, Ftisk. We change over years, decades. And as a Noble, they probably change even slower."

«Brian» (I forget, can I Divine odds, or did we decide that was outside the scope of Numbers?)

«Theresa» (Dante - am very sorry to have unleashed Ftisk on you again with relationship advice. Be glad I did not give him subscription to Cosmo or you would be getting the latest 'tips to make your man writhe in bed' workouts.)

«Brian» (thought so. There goes the easy way of figuring out if it's a good line of investigation.)

«Brian» (true. And besides, my question wouldn't really have been useful: "All things being equal, what are the odds that Shirk would have done [blahblahblah]?" which, well, no matter the answer isn't /really/ useful.)

«Theresa» "That's usually the sort of conversation you have in _private_, Ftisk. When both people agree to meet and to talk together..no fighting. Calm. Shouting has its place but it usually puts people on the defensive or it hurts their feelings."

«Brian» (RH) "That is actually probably a good idea. If there's something Really Weird, it should be visible."
«Random_Nerd» It doesn't look like there's a pattern beyond "More here, given the population level, than would be statistically probable."
«Brian» (Ftisk doesn't understand privacy! Ftisk doesn't /need/ privacy!)

«Brian» "Guys, we're going to look at the Wall, in that place. See if there's anything funky. The Boss will be here in a half hour, and wants us to have a list of what we want to take. Personally, I want Physics' gun, but I don't think she'd let me."
«DanteE» "Sam, William, you want to come with?"
«Random_Nerd» Sam: "Where?"
«Brian» "Spirit Realm? Probably not safe. Even for us."
«Theresa» (Dude, if the spirit world is harsh on Nobles, you'll fry our minions!)

«Brian» "Good call."
«Ftisk» "Uhm.. some days I want to do a biiig Data miracle and change his memories and his feeling's memories and his feeling.. you get the drift. so He know he love me, from all his life .... but hey then will be not the Dante I Lo.. like"
«DanteE» "Damn shame, the view should be spectacular."
«Random_Nerd» Sam: "That's in the list of rules. If Somebody Asks You If You Want To See The Spirit World, You Say No."
«Theresa» "I don't think it's in their contract to come to the spirit world, Dante. We're not even supposed to be hanging out there."
«Random_Nerd» Sam: "It is possible, as an anchor whose Noble would be there, that I would merely be spiritually crippled. William wouldn't be so lucky."
«DanteE» "Let's figure out what we need to bring..."

• Theresa nods at Ftisk. "You want it to be real, not something that you miracled?"
  

«Brian» "Do you guys have a recording device that might work there? Or transmitter, or something? Or should we ... Ftisk! You can make one! Essentially I want a video camera to record the everything that goes on."
«Brian» "Ideally with a transmission back at base so Sam or William can watch, just in case."

• DanteE goes and looks through his vault...

• Theresa hugs Ftisk. "I don't know if that is possible, Ftisk. You may have to accept just friendship and move on. But that's something that only time, you and Dante can decide."

«Random_Nerd» A glass from the minibar flies up into the air. A patch of carpet tears itself off of the floor. Paper clips and bits of dust and balled up post-it notes fly together to form a man-shaped outline.
«Random_Nerd» There are a lot of gaps in it. It looks almost like an industrially-themed Dionyl.
«Random_Nerd» Kudzu: "Hey. You thought of everything you need?"
«Brian» "Hope so."
«DanteE» "We hope so."

«Random_Nerd» Kudzu: "Okay. Yourselves. What else is on the list?"
«DanteE» (Ftisk, hooked to a thought recorder?)
«Random_Nerd» Kudzu: "Probably want some space and time..."

«Brian» "Those would be good. Is there a way to record and transmit, other than passive Thought Recorders?"

«Random_Nerd» Kudzu: "I'll probably just grab some from out in the countryside where no one will miss it. Anything else?"

«Random_Nerd» Kudzu waves a hand at you vaguely, and everyone (unless they wish to do a miracle or take a wound to resist) finds themselves in an empty spot in the Amyran countryside, in an overgrown meadow.

«Random_Nerd» Kudzu paces out a circle around you, dragging one foot behind him to mark the grass.

«Random_Nerd» Kudzu: "And now to get it to the right part of Earth..."
«Theresa» (Do not taunt Happy Fun Imperator.)
«DanteE» (Don't forget to replace your divot.)
«Brian» (Brian just had a thought, which he is keeping to himself. But it has some interesting implications. Unlikely to be true, but still. About Fetches and Excrucians and connection between Inside and Out)

«DanteE» (Gotta wonder what's being fed to the Thought Recorder... hope William brought popcorn)
«Kite» "Philosopher's Lawn?"
«Random_Nerd» Then everything grows wild and strange and vivid. You stand on the back of a Grassland Torn Through Space. It stabs at the back of the Quieter Landscape with a jagged sword of iron.
«Brian» (to grass, again) "See?"
«Random_Nerd» The Sun soars through the sky on flaming wings, devouring the smaller stars in its path.
«Random_Nerd» Then the two grasslands, as they stab each other, entwine in mating.
«Random_Nerd» Kudzu: "Okay, now, hold your breath, this part is going to be the hard part."

«Brian» "Literally hold breath?" *Does so*

«Random_Nerd» The grass vanishes. Then the ground. Then the sky.
«Random_Nerd» You stand in a featureless plane. You don't stand on anything, because there isn't gravity, but you don't float, either.
«Random_Nerd» Stuck to nothing in particular is a label that says "Space."
«Ftisk» "Cool!"
«Random_Nerd» A little bit over to one side is one that says "Time."

• Theresa loves her Imperator.
  

«Brian» "I feel like we're in an MMO's pre-alpha."
«Random_Nerd» Standing next to you is a stick figure with a label that says "Imperator."
«DanteE» (looks for the one that says "Playboy")
«Random_Nerd» Up and to your left is one that says "Wall."
«Random_Nerd» Down below you, a label that says "Earth."
«Random_Nerd» And through the sky, labels fly.
«Random_Nerd» Some so big you can't help but read them, like the ones that say "Serpent" and "Something", and tiny ones that flit by too fast to see.
«Random_Nerd» Kudzu: "So, what's the plan?"
«Brian» *will attempt to perceive if there's anything making a connection through the wall. He's expecting it to appear like a thread connecting two labels*
«DanteE» "Looking for something coming from this weak spot to Earth."
«Brian» "Um. Figure out how to perceive, first?"
«Random_Nerd» On Brian's face, a label that says "vision" appears.
«Brian» "Should've thought of that before..."
«Random_Nerd» All of you feel the specificity draining out of yourselves, too.
«Kite» (Plan = Take vacation photos!)
«DanteE» (uhoh)\
«Random_Nerd» It happens to Kite, first. He's just a stick-bird, with a label that says "Noble."
«Brian» "And Back to the Future time. Hey Kite!"

• Ftisk check that the recording is working

«Random_Nerd» Theresa is next, followed by Dante. They lose a bit less, theirs say "Theresa" and "Dante."
«Theresa» (Figures. Kudzu knows us better.)
«DanteE» "Ah... can you add Integrity to this?"
«Random_Nerd» Brian actually has a bit of a /face/ above his stick-body.
«Random_Nerd» Ftisk looks exactly the same as he usually does.
«Theresa» (I can _be_ a stick! ^^ )
«Ftisk» "Woot!"
«Random_Nerd» Kudzu: "Huh."
«Brian» "Were you expecting this? Or is this as weird for you?"
«Ftisk» "let's see, if I change into Conrad ... what happen?"

«Random_Nerd» As Ftisk changes into Conrad, a huge label flies down from the Wall label and wraps around him. It says "Excrucian."
«Theresa» "Ftisk is the one who has Tempered with a Warmain, boss."
«Theresa» "Uh oh."
«Random_Nerd» Smaller ones fly down too and attach themselves to it.
«Theresa» "Ftisk. Change back _NOW_!"
«Brian» "Bad Idea, Conrad."
«DanteE» "Ftisk? Change back to the camera-thing, quick."

«Kite» "Can you cut it, Dante?"
