Chancel_Amyra
Chapter 35

=-= User mode for Angelo is now +ix

-->| YOU (Angelo) have joined #Nobilis

<Angelo> Yo boys and girls!

  • Verithe noms on Angelo's head

<Random_Nerd> So, in the Amyra game, we were... something with Luc...

<Angelo> noms? something cute I hope! :-3

<BethE> Hi Angelo!

<Angelo> Hi Beth *HUG*

<BethE> It means to cutely nibble on something.

<Random_Nerd> Based on an internet popularization of something Cookie Monster said on Sesame Street.

<Angelo> RN, I want to be out of Chuubo playtest.

<BethE> We had just talked to Luc about him coming to the meeting, the possibility of Horrible Things' Imperator coming to the meeting and that Cain should be kept from baalhermon.

<Angelo> nod nod as Beth said

<Random_Nerd> Want to be out of it?

<Random_Nerd> Okay.

<Angelo> yes please

<Random_Nerd> ...do we have a Curse of Natalia, now?

<Etheric> I hope not!

<Angelo> don't know the other Natalia players is still in playtest (look at Knock)

<Angelo> ... missing! ops ...

<Etheric> It might be a localized curse?

-->| lazarus (~mmacmarti@MagicStar-E923FEB3.dsl.bell.ca) has joined #Nobilis

<lazarus> hullo?

<BethE> Hiya Laz

<lazarus> sorry I'm late.

<Angelo> another thing, this time City of Heroes related, please take a moment to read this: http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index.php/topic,6354.0.html

<lazarus> got caught up in playing some Zelda

<Angelo> hi Laz! :-)

<Etheric> Hey

-->| Knockwood (~Knockwood@4F0B9266.4D3BC4C7.3820EA4D.IP) has joined #Nobilis

<Knockwood> Hi all...

<Angelo> Hi Knock! (to RN: see no Natalia course!!!!)

<Etheric> Hello.

<BethE> Hi Knock

<Random_Nerd> Nah, Etheric was our previous Natalia, and he left for a while.

<Random_Nerd> Right?

<Knockwood> I'm recovering from a nasty head cold from yesterday

<Angelo> ah, right, Knock was leo

<lazarus> what week are we on?

<Random_Nerd> Amyra.

<Random_Nerd> Where we were doing... things... gimme a moment here.

<Etheric> Yes, that's right.

<Etheric> (re Natalia)

<Knockwood> Talking with you-know-who

<Knockwood> Luc

<Random_Nerd> Oh, yes, you'd talked with Luc about the meeting.

<lazarus> we got to him?

<Random_Nerd> Yeah, pretty much.

<Knockwood> Can anybody really _get_ to Luc?

<Angelo> we have luc support now

<Angelo> Ftisk wanna Luc as anchor but... Luc say no :-(

<BethE> Luc just isn't awesome enough to be Ftisk's anchor.

<Knockwood> Which means nothing can /possibly/ go wrong!

<Verithe> I was wondering the other day, if we haven't done this already, if it would be a good idea to talk to the person who erased that huge chunk of time from the timeline to prevent the Age changing.

<Knockwood> That wasn't why it got erased, right?

<Verithe> I...thought I had read something along those lines, but I could be wrong.

<Random_Nerd> That wasn't why.

<Verithe> Also, I expect myself to make several homophone errors tonight.

<Verithe> Ah, alright.

<Random_Nerd> It was an imperator who sold out to the Excrucians, I thought.

<Verithe> We should talk to the remains of that Imperator, then! XD

<lazarus> (btw, off topic: have y'all seen the Humble THQ Bundle?)

<Verithe> Just to have an extra thing to do.

<Knockwood> Who says we aren't?

<Random_Nerd> (I've not. What's in it?)

<lazarus> (Darksiders, Metro 2033, Red Faction Armageddon, Company of Heroes + expansions, and Saints Row 3 for >average)

<Random_Nerd> Huh. Well, Darksiders, Metro 2033, and SR3 are okay.

<Knockwood> Not sure my machine has the horsepower to play those

<Random_Nerd> Darksiders is like five years old, isn't it?

<Random_Nerd> Oh, just two.

<Random_Nerd> Maybe not, then.

=-= BethE is now known as Theresa

=-= lazarus is now known as Brian

=-= Knockwood is now known as DanteE

=-= YOU are now known as Ftisk

=-= Etheric is now known as Carrie

=-= Verithe is now known as Human-Kite

<Random_Nerd> So, the conversation with Luc was largely done. You'd been going to... go talk to Vulcan about how he was setting things up? Or something?

<DanteE> We could go and investigate Breach Day

<Theresa> What more do we need to investigate about Breach Day? Although we never did talk to the Imperator who got attacked.

<DanteE> Or, y'know, any of a gazillion other things that may help us find The Answer

<DanteE> We barely know anything about it

<Random_Nerd> About Breach Day?

<Random_Nerd> You know a lot about it by now, don't you?

<DanteE> Not really. Something big happened in a bunch of places and a few people appeared.

<Theresa> We know it happened on a certain day. That the Imperator of Rivers and Migration got attacked. Caesar came back into Creation, remembering being a warmain being a Dionyl.

<Theresa> The warmain scientist forgot his orders.

<Theresa> Kudzu and other Wildlords hid because they get memories back.

<Random_Nerd> You know that it affected Wildlords and Warmains, each in specific ways.

<DanteE> So, we know where and when. Just not why, who or how.

<Carrie> What were the specific ways?

<Random_Nerd> Wildlords had memories of Outside. Warmains acted like their Temperings.

<Human-Kite> I wonder if it is significant that she was the Serpent of Migration.

<Random_Nerd> And I checked, and this was openly stated in dialogue before.

<Brian> RN: yep. That's stuff I remember finding out

<Carrie> Okay, thanks.

<Human-Kite> The only next step I foresee for finding out stuff about Breach Day is the meeting with Vassa.

<Random_Nerd> Now, you don't know what caused it, or why those two groups were affected in those two ways.

<Brian> what exactly caused that is not really anything we found out, but we figured that the meeting was bound to give us more information

<Brian> well, more "why is Breach Day important?" is the question - what it means for the everything

<Brian> not in and of itself, really.

<Random_Nerd> Oh, and one other thing. You know that it made High Summoning a lot easier.

<Human-Kite> Oh, right!

<Human-Kite> I remember that!

<Brian> I don't remember that last bit.

<DanteE> Shadows mentioned it

<Random_Nerd> That's when Shadows started making rapid progress, and he said that something had happened that made it easier.

<Theresa> Hmm, wonder if that made the boundary tween Outside and Creation thinner.

<DanteE> We really should find out

<Brian> sounds like it.

<Random_Nerd> So, the question is... Wildlords. Tempered Warmains. High Summoners. What do these three groups have in common?

<DanteE> Both sides of the wall

<Brian> the answer really is the duality of Inside and Outside.

<Brian> which is what we knew already :)

<Brian> or, inferred, anyway.

<Random_Nerd> So, really, you know a lot about the how.

<Random_Nerd> Just not the why.

<Brian> and I suspect that the Excrucians don't know why either.

<Random_Nerd> Except that based on timing it may have /something/ to do with Shirk and the return of James.

<DanteE> Which means we REALLY need to know the Why

<Brian> and the Meeting was to figure out why - at least, that's one of our goals

<Human-Kite> Maybe Shirk crazied the Warmains and Wildlords! *le gasp!*

<Brian> did we ever find names for the other Kings?

<Theresa> That would be pretty impressive, given how many of them there are.

<Human-Kite> He's been working on his progress chart.

<Random_Nerd> You did find out about three other names. And that the stuff suggesting Entropy and/or Meon was textually dubious.

<Random_Nerd> And there's Entropy's idea that he and Barakiel are kinda Creation-side King-equivalents.

<Theresa> he being Entropy?

<DanteE> We're still supposed to come up with dancing partners for the other Kings, be?

<Brian> do we know what the Kings are?

<Random_Nerd> You... know what people who have written about them believe that they are.

<Human-Kite> Kite still thinks Queen Elizabeth II should be one of the Kings.

<Random_Nerd> Four Excrucians, almost certainly Strategists or at least allied with the Strategists, who set out to corrupt and weaken rather than destroy the people who defend Creation.

<Brian> ah, odd.

<Theresa> And the Warmains don't trust Strategists. Which is part of the reason that they are going to talk with us.

<Random_Nerd> Shirk being physically present as his full self appears to be relatively unprecedented, too.

<Random_Nerd> Shall we take this to in-character?

<DanteE> Well, wait...

<DanteE> Anyone have other ideas as to what we can do?

<Theresa> We still need to have something to trade/give as info to the Warmains.

<DanteE> I still think we're woefully unprepared for ... well, everything

<Ftisk> Right, we have only info on Shirk atm

<Random_Nerd> Well, the "shirking" that you've seen is on the scale of it, although he appears to be able to do it a lot more when he's fully in Creation.

<Random_Nerd> Normally it would be a matter of corrupting objects or locations to cause that kind of failing.

<Human-Kite> Do we have all our factions represented now?

<DanteE> Entropy has accepted Shirk into his circle in an effort to build a bridge between them, as part of a strategy to end the continuing conflict.

<Brian> I think we do, Kite.

<Random_Nerd> Let's see, I think you still lack a Lightlord. But you have enough support that Entropy had to deal with it as a thing that was happening.

<Human-Kite> Were we planning to talk with Orchards' Imperator?

<Theresa> We asked Luc to feel out Horrible Things' Imperator, who I think is a Lightlord.

<Brian> What worries me is that we haven't seen all the players. That is - we have us, Entropy &co, Barakiel &co, Warmains, Strategists, Kings ... and some other groups are out there and haven't shown themselves.

<DanteE> We'll just elide over the part where his strategy is to corrupt Shirk and through him evoke else

<Theresa> Oo, or Orchard's, that may have been it.

<Random_Nerd> Yeah, but that's not a settled thing yet, with Horrible Things. He'll let you know.

<Human-Kite> Horrible Things' was a....Fallen Angel?

<Random_Nerd> And, yes. Not a lightlord.

<Random_Nerd> But you didn't have an actual non-Barakiel Fallen.

<Random_Nerd> But you did have B, who had pull in Hell.

<DanteE> What about the guy we bought those souls from?

<Human-Kite> But Barakiel makes Ftisk's Warmain buddies squirm.

<Theresa> Since he went all Lawbreaker...is he still coming to the meeting>?

<Random_Nerd> Right now, nobody knows where Barakiel is.

<DanteE> He probably shouldn't

<Random_Nerd> Even Consequences doesn't seem to.

<Random_Nerd> He may already be Outside.

<Ftisk> I believe Barakiell will be seen as a treat from all attendees

<Human-Kite> Luc is currently working on the Fallen Angel for us, so we don't need to worry about that just yet.

<DanteE> I thought that was a Light

<Random_Nerd> No, it was a Fallen. You're thinking of Orchards' imperator.

<DanteE> Oh, OK

<DanteE> Do we have a Serpent coming?

<Human-Kite> C...C....Clarity? Dionyl lady was working on Orchards a little bit, maybe....but to get a meeting for us. Right?

<Random_Nerd> Well, Jerren is currently sold on it.

<Random_Nerd> Well, you guys had wanted to talk to Orchards' /aide/, not her /Imperator/.

<Theresa> Yes, Clarity. I remember because I was thinking pony.

<Random_Nerd> Because, photos.

<Human-Kite> Right!

<Human-Kite> It's all so clear now!

<Human-Kite> I remember it like it was two months ago...

<Random_Nerd> Yeah, I think we're starting to reach Loose End Critical Mass.

<Random_Nerd> Time to start resolving more of those suckers than we create!

<Theresa> But we wanted to talk to the aide because she was in the photos and we were going to try the tenuous link of plants --> orchards.

<DanteE> Which is exactly why I think we should tie a few up before proceeding

<Human-Kite> Soo...Orchards' Aide and Imperator, if we can manage it?

<Random_Nerd> That works.

<Theresa> Okay, so in character?

<Human-Kite> Yes!

<Ftisk> o-kay

<Brian> sure

<DanteE> OK

<Random_Nerd> __________START______________

<Ftisk> (is carrie with us?)

<Random_Nerd> (Are you?)

<Carrie> (Yes, just haven't been saying much.)

<Theresa> "So, shall we go visit Orchards?"

<Ftisk> @Carrie: "Can I use your shoulder as transportation and rest system?"

<Carrie> "I.. suppose so?"

<Ftisk> *beam*

<DanteE> "Good idea...

<Human-Kite> "Ftisk, do not form unlawful attractions to this one."

<Ftisk> "Eh? unlawful? like what?"

<Theresa> "He didn't with me, Kite."

<DanteE> "Hm. I suppose at some point I should talk to Azazel, shouldn't I

<Ftisk> *nod nod*

<Random_Nerd> Sam arranges pictures in front of the table. "Orchards." "Aide." "Imperator."

<Human-Kite> "This is true, Theresa, and I am thankful every day."

<Human-Kite> "No offense."

<Ftisk> "uhm... not sure on the no offense Kite..."

<Theresa> "None... taken, I think?" *smile*

<DanteE> (Technically, how old is Ftisk?)

<Ftisk> (3years)

  • Human-Kite snukes

<Human-Kite> *smiles

<Theresa> (I was wondering what a snuke was and whether it's a Kite thing... ^^ )

<DanteE> "Don't take it personally, Ftisk, no one can snark at you like family.

<Human-Kite> (It totally is! ^_^))

  • Ftisk land on Carrie shoulder and start exploring his new fiefdom

<DanteE> "Just ask my sister fart-face."

<Brian> (snuke does sound like a fun thing)

  • Theresa takes a look at the pictures. Anything out of the human ordinary?

<Random_Nerd> The Power of Orchards is female, human, and vaguely mediterranean in appearance. Her Aide is also female, and is caucasian, and rather stressed-looking.

<Ftisk> "uh uh Dante, ok good"

  • Theresa looks at Carrie. "Want to flip a coin or should we just both look disappointedly at him?"

  • Ftisk don't listen lalaallaalalala

<Human-Kite> (The Noble of Absurdity sends her love to the Chancel....she says she sends it in the form of a rainstorm of glue)

<Brian> (oh good. We haven't had one of those in a long time)

<Random_Nerd> The picture of the Imperator is vaguely cubist-looking, and is labeled as "artist's concept." It's vaguely humanoid, possibly made of polished wood, and unsettling to look at.

<Brian> (the glue farms needed revitalization)

<Human-Kite> (she is pleased)

<Theresa> (Unsettling how?)

<Carrie> "I'm not *that* disappointed."

  • Carrie does look a bit dismayed as she glances down to her shoulder.

<Random_Nerd> (Like it's something out of a fever dream.)

  • Theresa will later give Carrie the good soap that gets out snail-slime stains.

<Ftisk> (can I call the trained parachuting ants? them would love the new CarrieHome XD )

<Ftisk> (Ftisk leave not stains (if he want not to leave one))

<Carrie> (And rereading it, I totally miscalled the pronoun, but that can also be true in-character, as snail on shoulder is slightly distracting! <.< )

<Theresa> "Any word about the Family? Gossip, so forth?"

<Random_Nerd> (There are parachuting ants?)

<Carrie> (Probably Samael has paratroopers.)

<Carrie> (After all, if you were him, why wouldn't you?)

<Ftisk> (one time Ftisk tried to train some and set an operation base on T. but she refused ... strangely I may add)

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Not very active in Noble society. All of them are at least a decade into Nobility. Uh... most of the stuff that we know, we know by having an Aide there, and that's... privileged. Like the nonpublic stuff about you."

<Theresa> (She tries to keep the population on her body down to a dull roar.)

<Carrie> (Thats a no, though, Ftisk.  :P )

<Ftisk> (preconception and prejudices! Ftisk is always hindered by them!)

<Carrie> "Understood."

<Human-Kite> "Okay."

  • Ftisk travel to the other shoulder looking around

<Random_Nerd> William: "Now, I'm not sure how we want to set this up."

<Theresa> "Okay. Is it okay to send word ahead that we want to visit or just pop by?"

  • Carrie suppresses the urge to twitch her neck as Ftisk moves.

<Random_Nerd> William: "Which of them do you want to talk with, and what about?"

<DanteE> "Theresa, Power of Plants, would like to talk to Orchards... is probably the best."

<Ftisk> mumbling to itself: "here, this is a good spot for a couch and a shell waxing machine next to it would be just adorable ... I soo love if Carrie let me install one here ..."

<Random_Nerd> William: "I mean, really. Who do you really want to talk to?"

<Theresa> "Well, I'm the one that has at least a little bit of a connection. Maybe asking for some orchard suggestions for Amyra after being encapsulated from the rest of Earth."

<DanteE> "You're socially obligated to talk to Orchards anyway."

<Theresa> "We want to talk to the Aide so we can try and figure out why Entropy told Jerren to beware of her."

<Random_Nerd> William: "Yes, there are ways we can arrange for this. But... who do you actually want to talk to?"

<Brian> "We really want to talk to the Imperator"

<Carrie> *quietly* "Not a chance."

<Human-Kite> "We....would like to get information about why that one," points to the Aide, "Is on Entropy's danger list and we want to see if we can garner support from that one," points to the Imperator, "For the meeting."

<Human-Kite> "And getting to know Orchards would be fun too."

<Ftisk> "Aww girl you are killing the fun!" *exaggeratedly shed a lubricant oil tear*

<Random_Nerd> William: "So, the Aide, and the Imperator. The Noble is less important?"

<Brian> "For our immediate goals"

<DanteE> "No she isn't!"

<Random_Nerd> William: "Now. The Aide. How open do you want to be with her?"

<Theresa> "We have no idea why she would be warned about. What would you recommend?"

<Brian> "I would think quite"

<Random_Nerd> William: "Clarity seemed to think that she could be trusted, and she is an Aide. But if Jerren had reasons to be worried about her... hmm."

<DanteE> "Theresa, we're part of a Society, and we need as many allies as possible. You need to talk to Orchards at some point anyway. We shouldn't spurn her."

<Theresa> "I'm not spurning! There has been no spurn!"

<DanteE> "How would you feel if, say, Seeds left you in the dust talking to William or Kudzu?"

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Wait, is there a Seeds?"

<Theresa> "Uh, well, talking to Kudzu is okay, because he's more Plants than I am, in a way. William... I don't know."

<Ftisk> "Don't put you down T. You are the plantest thing I know!"

<Theresa> "But I was planning on talking to Orchards! She would have good ideas for setting up the best areas for non-Amyra food trees!"

<DanteE> "That's what you're doing obviously preferring the Aide to the Noble. No offense, William."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "You know what? We're no good at the sneaky finding-things-out thing. I vote we just tell her what's what."

<Ftisk> "Seconded!"

<Theresa> "William asked who we really needed to talk to. I responded as to what we were wanting to know for the meeting, not just my Chancel chores."

<Human-Kite> "Sounds good enough."

<Theresa> "Yeah, I'm not very sneaky."

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "She's an Aide, people we trust seem to like her... I think that's good enough."

<DanteE> "Do we want to tell them they're on a Dangerous Beings list?"

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "So, then, here's my plan. We tell her that we want to make contact with her Noble and her Noble's Family, to discuss among other things their possible inclusion in the Big Plan. People know about the Big Plan, so that's plausible as a cover. "

<Random_Nerd> Sam: "Then we both do that, and maybe tell her about the photo."

<Theresa> "Sounds like a good plan."

<Brian> "That sounds good"

<Human-Kite> "Good plan."

<Random_Nerd> (So, cut to the conversation, the next day?)

<DanteE> "Yes."

<Theresa> (Sounds good.)

  • Human-Kite pats Sam.

<DanteE> (OK)

<Ftisk> nod

<Human-Kite> (yus)

<Random_Nerd> It's been agreed that you will meet with Maria in a diner in a former logging town. Her suggestion.

<Random_Nerd> She knows who you are, and that you want to talk with her about issues related to the Big Plan.

<Random_Nerd> When you arrive, she'll already be there, drinking a cup of coffee.

  • Ftisk wave and smile

<Theresa> (Ftisk should be in a human suit.)

<Random_Nerd> From the looks of things, that's not her first cup of the day, either.

<Human-Kite> "Hullo!"

<Ftisk> (nice suggestion)

<Random_Nerd> She's not, like, /Patterns/ edgy, but she's either paranoid about something, or has a /really/ high energy level.

=-= YOU are now known as Conrad

<DanteE> (She's the aide?)

<Brian> *will smile at the waitress and indicate for coffee*

<Random_Nerd> (Yep.)

<Random_Nerd> Waiter, in this case, and he nods.

  • Theresa will walk in and smile. And sit down. "Hello! Maria, correct?"

  • Conrad follow Theresa, and sit too *smile* "Hi!"

<Random_Nerd> She nods, and looks over the group of you. Her eyes quickly go to Theresa's missing fingers, Ftisk's eyes, Dante's face.

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "Yes. Maria Willard, Aide to the Power of Orchards."

<Human-Kite> (Dude, Dante....your /face/!)

  • Theresa smiles. "Oh, don't worry about the fingers. A price paid to Jan Ben Jan, for knowledge."

<DanteE> (I'm used to it.)

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "I know. I looked you up, before the meeting."

<Theresa> "And I'm Theresa *coughmylastnamewheneverIcanrememberit*, Plants' Regal."

<Human-Kite> "Oooh!"

<Random_Nerd> She points a finger at Ftisk. "You tempered a Warmain."

<Conrad> "oh, uhm, like say that politely ... let's say half excru"

<Conrad> "right as you said"

<Brian> "I am Numbers."

  • Human-Kite shoves Ftisk.

<Random_Nerd> M: "What did that do? The material in your file is vague."

<Brian> "and I am *rolls dice* pleased to meet you"

<Random_Nerd> (...Al Gore on Futurama, right?)

<Brian> (Gary)

<Random_Nerd> (Or was it Gygax?)

<DanteE> "And don't worry about the eye. A price paid to ... some random street punk for ... Cneph only knows."

<Random_Nerd> (One of those two.)

<Conrad> "Is cool! Anyone should temper, you become so OPEN to their pov!"

<DanteE> (Gygax, I think. Makes more sense.)

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "So you say. And yet, when they temper us, they don't seem to react that way."

<Random_Nerd> (Gore did play D&D in that episode, though.)

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "Well... except for recently."

<Conrad> "Eh, but I can assure is Fuhun!"

<Human-Kite> "Recently?"

<Brian> (It was EGG. And they used that recording for the tribute at the end of Bender's Game)

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "When you did it, was that before, or after..." *waves a hand in the air* "You know. When the shit hit the fan."

<Theresa> "Ah, the Breach Day?"

<Conrad> "didn't Know! *look at T*

<Random_Nerd> (After.)

<Theresa> "After Breach Day, for Ftisk."

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "I suppose that's as good a name for it as any."

<DanteE> "You know, I can help with that twitch."

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "This is my twitch, get your own."

<Random_Nerd> She glances at the waiter, who brings a pot of coffee and a few mugs.

<Conrad> "cool"

<Brian> "Lumberjack breakfast, please"

<Random_Nerd> A nod.

<DanteE> "I mean set it up so you don't need it. You can sell it."

<Human-Kite> "Fish, please."

<Random_Nerd> Waiter: "And the rest of you?"

<Theresa> (Twitch?)

<Conrad> "some oil"

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "But I hand-raised this twitchiness. I'm ever so fond of it."

<Theresa> "Berry smoothie, please."

<Conrad> "wait! no oil, the day special"

<Random_Nerd> At Theresa, a grunt. "Just what's on the menu."

<DanteE> "You have omelets?"

<Random_Nerd> At Dante: "Yep. Ham, cheese, or ham /and/ cheese."

<Theresa> "Then a piece of pie."

<DanteE> "Ham and cheese."

<Random_Nerd> W: "Apple okay?"

<Theresa> "Yes, please."

<DanteE> (Let me guess, they has both types of music... Country and western)

<Random_Nerd> He grunts again, and returns to the cooking area.

<Random_Nerd> (...Beth just made that joke.)

<Brian> (watch when I leave him a pi*i tip!)

<Random_Nerd> (Because e to the pi i would be too obscure?)

<Theresa> "So, you've looked us up. May we have the low-down on you?"

<Brian> (e^(i*pi) I thought ended up being actually a real number. Euler's number does _something_ weird, anyway)

<Conrad> (brb)

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "Born in South Carolina. Clemson university, agricultural engineering. Then, Aides training. Four years on the job for Orchards. First assignment, still with it."

<Random_Nerd> (Yeah, it's negative 1. Which is crazy.)

<Theresa> "Cool. So, you've heard of the meeting that we are going to be holding?"

<Brian> (... so call me maybe? ... ok, who's going to do that parody?)

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "I once stole a goat for reasons that seemed good at the t... yes. Entropy's supporting it now, yes?"

<Human-Kite> "Is he?"

<Brian> "Not officially."

<Brian> "Or, at least, not that I heard. Which is good. Never listen to him directly."

<Random_Nerd> M: "But everyone knows he's behind it. You even got The Box, didn't you?"

<Random_Nerd> M: "Big flashing text at the top of your file."

<Brian> "He's not behind it, by the way. He gave us The Box out of spite and malice."

<DanteE> To William: "Remind me to review our files sometime."

<Random_Nerd> William: "Very well."

<DanteE> To Brian: "That would mean he /is/ behind it."

<Random_Nerd> M: "Granted, but still, he's supporting you. So why do you need my boss or her boss?"

<Human-Kite> "Or he's just trying to make it look like he's behind it."

<Random_Nerd> Your food arrives.

<Theresa> "Because we are hoping to have at least one of each faction of Imperator at our meeting."

<Human-Kite> "I mean, he can still take that box away any time, right?"

<Human-Kite> "FISH!"

<Random_Nerd> M: "Ah, and you don't directly know anyone from the Light side? More of a Wild-Angelic coalition, right?"

<DanteE> (That was quick)

  • Human-Kite faceplants into the fish.

<Brian> (Today's fish is trout a la creme)

<Random_Nerd> (It /was/ quick. But the quality of the food explains that.)

<Theresa> "And plus, I was hoping for some advice for handling the feeding of our Chancel now that we've been cut off from Earth. Some of the people are still used to foods that aren't native to our country and I want to know the best conditions for the trees that I can create for them."

<Theresa> "And yes, we do know more on the Wild/Angel side of things."

<Random_Nerd> M: "Can't you just... tell? Or do you do other things, instead?"

  • Theresa eats some of her pie.

<Conrad> (back)

<Random_Nerd> The pie... well, let's just say that Agent Cooper would /not/ be considering moving here after he retires.

  • DanteE chows down

<Human-Kite> "Dante did do a thing for [Nobles we got the sword from] and there was that one incident with [Lightlord who went Outside and came back broken]."

<Random_Nerd> (This being a Twin Peaks reference, for any non-Americans here.)

<Brian> (Twin Peaks being a show I intend to watch, but haven't got in the mood to yet)

<Brian> (great music. SLOW pacing. Weird.)

<Theresa> "Yes, I could know that in a way that the plants themselves know. Or I can just _make_ the plants do well wherever I put them. But I want the people who are involved with these new orchards to have the right knowledge."

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "Ah. Well... Ja Phon doesn't... have much pull these days. Not directly, anyhow. I actually has classes with his current tender."

<DanteE> (don't we know that name?)

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "Well, that can be arranged. And I'm sure we can work out a reasonable barter in exchange."

<Random_Nerd> (That was the Lightlord who went outside and came back broken. Kite just mentioned him.)

<DanteE> (oh, didn't see Kite's)

<Human-Kite> (I was forgetting all the names.)

<Random_Nerd> (The sword... was that a lightlord?)

<Theresa> "Indeed! Thank you. So, do you think your boss or her boss would be interested in the meeting we are having?"

<Random_Nerd> (Oh, and you met one other Lightlord, very briefly. Mike Cook's biological father.)

<Human-Kite> (I thought the were a Lightlord's Nobles.)

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "We... aren't particularly fond of Entropy. Or, for that matter, Berakha."

<Random_Nerd> She looks nervous again.

<Brian> (which one's that?)

<Random_Nerd> (HQB. Wildlord on the Council.)

<Brian> (ah!)

<Conrad> (we have tatoo from him, right?)

<Random_Nerd> (Those of you with HQB flower tattoos... are those in a place where they'd be visible?)

<DanteE> (palms, IIRC)

<Random_Nerd> (Some of you do. Not all, I don't think.)

<Theresa> (Theresa's have probably been visible.)

<Random_Nerd> She glances at those.

<DanteE> (No, I think we all do now)

<Human-Kite> "I guess that puts us in an awkward diplomatic situation. Are you free to say why?"

<Conrad> "Look!" I have a tatoo of him!!!" *raise sweater*

<Random_Nerd> Then she glances at the waiter.

  • Human-Kite sighs.

  • DanteE checks the place out with The Sight...

  • Conrad look around, sigh and then lower the sweater

<Human-Kite> "When we get home, you can show everyone your tattoo, Ftisk."

<Random_Nerd> (To the Sight, it's a dull, mundane diner filled with normal humans other than you guys, some minor miracle glimmers on Maria... and the waiter is at least as bright as you are, maybe a hair more.)

<Random_Nerd> (Also, when you do that, he instantly turns his head and looks straight at you.)

  • Conrad grumble "always fun place! Came on there is more life in a rock that here"

<Conrad> (the waiter is her noble?)

<DanteE> "Orchards. You owe it to the Society to serve better food."

<Random_Nerd> (Nope. Waiter is male, her Noble is female.)

<DanteE> (Oops)

<Theresa> (It could be a guise?)

<Random_Nerd> (Could be.)

<Theresa> (The others in the family are Beer and Squares.)

<Human-Kite> (Or a Noble-level attack ninja!)

<Conrad> (I wanna meet beer!)

<Theresa> (Maybe ask Maria to introduce us to her companion?)

<Random_Nerd> When the waiter turns his head, Maria gets even /more/ nervous. Like, Mexican Standoff nervous.

<DanteE> (And now I'm imagining the BBT cast getting drunk under apple trees, thanks)

<Brian> (Squares? As in Nanaimo Bars or 2-dimensional cubes?)

<Conrad> (nanaimo?)

<Random_Nerd> (The things that are midway between cubes and lines.)

<Brian> (nanaimo bars are amazing, btw. Chocolate, coconut, and ... something. In square form.)

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "Now, let's stay calm here. The Box... you didn't actually /bring/ it, did you?"

<DanteE> "No, no, it’s safely stored away."

<Random_Nerd> She calms down visibly.

<Theresa> "Given that this is a peaceful meeting, that would have been rude."

<Random_Nerd> And mouths the words "No Box."

<Theresa> *sigh* "May I ask what is going on and why we're being eye-gouged by our waiter?"

<Human-Kite> "Maybe we should just politely return the Box."

  • Conrad thumb up to the waiters

<Random_Nerd> M: "I strongly suspect that... Courage... did something to look at him, or divine about him, or something like that."

<DanteE> "Our waiter's Noble."

<Theresa> "And our waiter is actually... whom?"

<Random_Nerd> M: "He's... not, actually. But close enough for some purposes."

<Human-Kite> "Oh?"

  • DanteE looks again...

<Random_Nerd> Sight, or regular?

<DanteE> Both

<Theresa> "Guys... don't stiff him on the tips."

<Random_Nerd> To the Sight, he's Noble-bright, and on the bright side even for that.

<Random_Nerd> Normally, you can actually tell more, because you recognize his face. He's a little more tan than in the last picture you saw, but those cheekbones are unmistakable.

<Human-Kite> "Would he want to talk with us too or is he busy?"

<Random_Nerd> Yep, it's Cain.

<Theresa> (Hah, knew it. Given the box scare.)

<DanteE> "Oh!"

<Conrad> (wow)

  • Human-Kite fidgets.

<Random_Nerd> He sighs, and walks over to the table again.

<Conrad> *beam*

<Theresa> "Hello, sir."

<Human-Kite> "This is...rather a coincidence!"

<Random_Nerd> He looks at all of you. He focuses on Theresa. "Plants, right?"

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "Coincidence?"

<Theresa> "Yes, sir, that's me. My given name is Theresa."

<Random_Nerd> C: "Never did figure out how that one could be Wild. Plants have been here all along."

<Theresa> "I'm not sure, either, sir. Maybe it's something about the Ash. How it defines things both inside and Outside."

<Random_Nerd> C: "Could be, I suppose."

<Human-Kite> to Maria: "Well, we were recently shown some photos. Both you and Cain were among them."

<Conrad> @Cain: "Can I have a snapshot with you?"

<Random_Nerd> C: "I avoid photographs."

<Conrad> *sigh*

<Human-Kite> "And yet..."

<Conrad> "A video? a Hologram?"

<Random_Nerd> C: "Will you guarantee that this never falls into human hands?"

<Theresa> (There's a difference between a souvenir and a surveillance photo.)

<Conrad> "NOPE!"

<DanteE> (I think you're mixing people up)

<Human-Kite> "At least he's honest."

<Random_Nerd> C: "Then no. No photograph."

<Conrad> lol

<Random_Nerd> (Who's mixing people up?)

<DanteE> (Was Cain in Entropy's photos?)

<Theresa> (Yes.)

<Random_Nerd> (Yes. Yes he was.)

<Conrad> "k, k Kain"

<Human-Kite> (Luc IDed him.)

<Random_Nerd> Guy Behind the Counter: "I'm not paying you to socialize with your girlfriend, New Guy!"

<Random_Nerd> Cain just rolls his eyes.

<Human-Kite> "We won't keep you if you're busy. May we talk when you're off?"

<Random_Nerd> C: "I was thinking of moving on, anyway. May as well have the conversation, even if I'm not going to be actually needed."

<Random_Nerd> He takes his apron off, wads it up, and throws it at the guy by the cash register.

  • Conrad applause

<Theresa> "So what do you think of our proposed meeting, Mr. Cain?"

<Random_Nerd> C: "One of the skills you learn, when you've been around as long as I have, is how to find work wherever you go. Man's still got to eat."

<Random_Nerd> C: "I think it's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of that wasn't on television."

<Human-Kite> "Parsley and lemon?"

  • Human-Kite offers what's left on his plate to Cain.

<Random_Nerd> He shakes his head. "Already had lunch."

<Conrad> "We Vulcanians can take care of your feeding and logging needs"

<Random_Nerd> C: "But I had a question. You said something about a coincidence."

<Human-Kite> "Yes!"

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "Yeah. What did you mean by that?"

<Theresa> "There was a packet of photos given to the Imperator of Impending Doom to be aware of, at least on sight. Your picture was in that pack. Ours were too."

<Human-Kite> "Well, the previous custodian of the Box was given a series of photos of people to be careful around. Both of you were amo....yes, what she said."

<Random_Nerd> C: "The snake?"

<Random_Nerd> Maria nods at him.

<DanteE> "You two are potentially dangerous to new Serpents."

<Random_Nerd> C: "Never did like them. Family stuff."

<Random_Nerd> M: "Wait, /me/? Him, I get. But me?"

<Human-Kite> "At least that one....or at least Lord Entropy wanted him to think so."

<DanteE> "As in, break out the Box if you approach."

<Conrad> *nod nod*

<Random_Nerd> Maria just stares.

<Random_Nerd> C: "Okay, now /that/ is the stupidest thing I've heard of late."

<Conrad> "you Are _dangerous_ Maria" *pout*

<Theresa> "How nice to be moved down the list."

<DanteE> "Well, that's according to Entropy."

<Human-Kite> "Which?"

<Human-Kite> (to Cain))

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "To cause a fight. Between him. And Baalhermon. In the presence of the God of Inevitable Doom."

<DanteE> "Of course that means if you do come it might cheese him off.

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "At that point, smoking while pouring gasoline and juggling chainsaws would probably make things /safer/."

<DanteE> "Which some would consider an excellent motivator."

<Human-Kite> "Oh, yeah...I think Luc mentioned something like that too..."

<Theresa> "Impending Doom, but yes."

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "Still, though."

<Conrad> "What" *confused*

<Random_Nerd> Cain looks frustrated.

<Theresa> *to Conrad* "It's a human thing. How smoking around flammable liquids and juggling large cutting objects would cause you to die quickly and in a very messy way."

<Conrad> "bah, then they need a fix or an update"

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "Who else was on these photos?"

<Human-Kite> to Contrad: "Generally, humans don't get those."

<Random_Nerd> C: "So, that one's not human?"

<Random_Nerd> He looks.

<Conrad> "what a shame..."

<Human-Kite> "Luc. Most of us."

<Conrad> "Me?" *return to snail form*

<Random_Nerd> He makes eye contact with Conrad."

=-= YOU are now known as Fitsk

<DanteE> "Yeah, these two are Vulcan."

<Human-Kite> "Ftisk, no!"

<Fitsk> "Lovingly hand made by VULCAN!"

<DanteE> (You can tell by Ftisk's impeccable logic. :p )

  • Human-Kite throws a napkin over Ftisk and looks around to see if anyone else saw.

<Random_Nerd> As soon as he sees the eyes, he starts backing towards the door and saying "It would be a bad idea to attempt to harm me. I will go. I am not a party in this fight. I am walking slowly away."

<Random_Nerd> The speech has the cadence of something he's repeated many times.

=-= YOU are now known as DragonTisk

<Human-Kite> "Ftisk tempered a Warmain.....oh no."

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "Wait! He's not one of them! I... don't think!"

<DanteE> "Don't panic, he's the one who tempered a Warmain."

<DragonTisk> "Ambush! Who attack me!!!"

<Theresa> "Mr. Cain, it's okay. Ftisk tempered a Warmain and this is the result."

<Human-Kite> "Ftisk! Normal humans! Stop!"

<Random_Nerd> C: "No 'mister'. Cain. We didn't need family names, back when I got mine."

<Theresa> (It's too much to hope that he's a tiny dragon?)

<DanteE> "And yes, I know how weird that sounds."

<Random_Nerd> He stops at the door.

<Theresa> "I was wishing to show respect, sir."

<Brian> (I gotta sleep! Good night!)

  • DragonTisk quickly change back to human

<DanteE> (G'night Brian)

=-= YOU are now known as Conrad

<Conrad> (nn BNrian)

|<-- Brian has left irc2.magicstar.net (Disintegrated: Brian)

  • Human-Kite sighs in relief.

<DanteE> "Ftisk, we've asked you about breaking brains."

<Conrad> "what? where who?"

<Random_Nerd> C, to Theresa: "I really /was/ going to get around to meeting you, one of these days. I just hadn't gotten to it yet. It'll take me some time to work my way over to North Africa."

<Random_Nerd> C: "So... Plants. What's the most important thing about plants?"

<Conrad> "What happen? Who ambushed me?"

<Conrad> "Dante, you neutralized him/she/it?"

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "It was a misunderstanding. He thought you were one of Them, and was walking away."

<DanteE> "Not me."

<Human-Kite> to Conrad: "I was trying to cover you so that no one would see you change."

<Conrad> "Me? Tempered a warmain, I advise anyone to do a tempering, is fuuuuun!"

  • DanteE looks around for lost marbles...

<Conrad> "Ahhhh!!! well, ops, right, don't change before dum.. erhm humans, always forget. Sorry"

<Theresa> "That they are useful. Every plant, whether it's a weed or the plant that can cure cancer, all of them have some _purpose_, some meaning, even if it's just to be a spot of color in a drab place, a way to hold the dirt down and breaking rocks, or just feed some animal or bug. Purpose."

<Random_Nerd> Cain: "Please don't do that around me, either. I've gotten good at looking away, but I'm not perfect, and it might be dangerous if I failed to do so."

<Random_Nerd> C: "Purpose for people, specifically? Or just in general?"

<Theresa> "In general."

<Random_Nerd> He looks a little disappointed.

<Conrad> "You?" *raise and approach Cain, not threating way*

<Theresa> "Why did you want to come and meet me?"

<Random_Nerd> C: "Ah, well."

<Random_Nerd> C: "I try to meet the Nobles I have... connections to. Your brother was also on the list. Ah... Urbanization. Is he not here?"

  • Human-Kite grabs at Conrad's hand

<DanteE> (Remind me, Nobilis lore on Cain says...?)

<Theresa> "Oh!" *brightens* "Agriculture!"

<Conrad> *shake free from Kite* (aspect 3)

<Theresa> "You created agriculture and cities!"

<Random_Nerd> (Mostly the usual stuff. Son of Adam and Eve. Killed his brother. Sevenfold vengeance.)

<Random_Nerd> C: "Among other things, yes."

  • Human-Kite isn't trying hard enough!

<Theresa> "He is not living with us at the moment, sir. He has had some physical problems since his enNoblement."

<Random_Nerd> C: "If it means anything, I don't hit people with rocks any more. I haven't done that in a long time."

  • Conrad appraise Cain's shoulders

  • Theresa smiles. "It's okay, sir. My brother has taken to that hobby, himself. Tried it on Entropy."

  • Human-Kite glances at Brian.

<Theresa> (Ftisk does not want to know what sevenfold slime is like.)

<Random_Nerd> Maria: "Physical problems? Doesn't Nobility usually erase all of that? Or did he find a bloodstone... no, can't be, he was the first, right?"

<Conrad> (why not? Slime and Ftisk play along nicely)

<Random_Nerd> Cain turns to Brian: "Don't hit people with rocks. It rarely ends well."

<Random_Nerd> (Mind if we stop there?)

<Conrad> "But was _Entropy_"

<Human-Kite> (Alright with me)

<DanteE> (OK)

<Conrad> (is ok to stop here)

<Random_Nerd> __________________STOP________________

<Random_Nerd> And we can continue the conversation next Amyra session.

<Human-Kite> When we have a Brian to talk to.

<Conrad> nod nod

<Random_Nerd> So... yeah, it wasn't a coincidence.

=-= Human-Kite is now known as Verithe

<Theresa> I liked this talk with Cain!

=-= YOU are now known as Angelo

<Angelo> Ftisk would like to try Cain's shoulder! :-D

<DanteE> Actually, wasn't Cain the first (some Imperator type)?

<Random_Nerd> He was never actually an Imperator.

<Theresa> So, are they dating?

=-= DanteE is now known as Knockwood

<Theresa> No, Adam was Dark, Eve was Light.

<Random_Nerd> Cain was just a fullblooded human who didn't eat the fruit.

<Knockwood> So Cain was Twilight.

<Verithe> ...

<Theresa> No, wait, Adam wasn't a Darklord. But Eve _was_ a Lightlord.

<Knockwood> ... It all makes sense now! :p

<Theresa> Or I can be wrong.

<Random_Nerd> Adam and Eve didn't actually /become/ Darklord and Lightlord, did they?

<Theresa> Cain doesn't sparkle.

<Random_Nerd> They just created them.

<Random_Nerd> And, no, he isn't a vampire.

<Angelo> that is good

<Theresa> I know that a Darklord ... who was the serpent became a Darklord and took over Eden. I forget how the Lightlords came about, which is probably why I thought Eve was one.

<Verithe> I thought....they both ate the fruit prematurely [things I forget here] and then they couldn't attain their destiny to be Imperial.

<Random_Nerd> Basically, Cain is the closest you can be to being an imperator without being one. If things had gone differently and that one Serpent hadn't gotten drunk and messed things up, he /would/ have become one.

<Knockwood> Of course, if there was any doubt that we're PCs there isn't any now. :)

<Random_Nerd> Oh? Why?

<Theresa> Wow. given Carrie's vision, I would want to print it out and have Cain sign it.

<Random_Nerd> (Really, in some ways Cain is kinda like what you'd get if you took an immature Serpent out of the Tree before it finished growing.)

<Theresa> Because we've met the third Human of the world, oldest living human and walking nuclear blast site and lived?

<Knockwood> We've met Entropy, HQB, every type of Imperator (almost), several types of Excrucian, and now Cain.

<Theresa> I'm sorry that I disappointed him.

<Knockwood> We are not the Power of Stale Bong Water.

<Random_Nerd> Yeah, you guys are currently A Big Deal.

<Random_Nerd> It's the big project, and Entropy's finally caving and supporting it, that pushed you over the edge.

<Angelo> :-)

<Random_Nerd> Oh, and no, he doesn't still have the Abhorrent Rock.

<Knockwood> As a rule, if you have a way to End Everything and there's a good chance you'll use it, you're a PC

<Random_Nerd> Aren't doomsday weapons more of an NPC endboss thing?

<Random_Nerd> And Baalhermon wouldn't end /everything/. Sure, the diner. Maybe the city. Probably not the state. Almost certainly not the continent.

<Theresa> I was wondering about the rock.

<Random_Nerd> At least unless you told him to, I guess.

<Theresa> He wouldn't end them right in a moment. Would take some time.

=-= Theresa is now known as BethE

<Knockwood> I think it would qualify as Close Enough to Everything

<Random_Nerd> So, what'd you think of the two new NPCs? Did they come across as having, like, personalities and stuff?

<Knockwood> Hell, it could be a bit...

<Angelo> Yep I like them, Cain more

=-= Carrie is now known as Etheric

<Knockwood> If you hear a legend or prophecy and try and figure out which role you'll play, yooooou might be a PC.

<Verithe> Yes.

<Knockwood> What we've seen of them so far, sure.

<Random_Nerd> Okay. Felt like I was off my game on this one, so I wasn't sure.

<BethE> I liked both of them. They had distinct personalities. But the pie was disappointing.

<Random_Nerd> Next time go to Twin Peaks.

<Knockwood> Just follow the dwarf.

<Knockwood> Though if you think about it, Cain would be almost guaranteed to have PTSD.

<Random_Nerd> Pretty much.

<Angelo> yeah

<Random_Nerd> Apart from being unkillable, he's basically an emotionally damaged hobo who's been around for a long time./

<BethE> And has had to watch a lot of people die. And see his family gradually become ... lesser.

<Random_Nerd> And all the people still around who're even vaguely pure-human are freaks and weirdos like the Giant.

<Knockwood> (IIRC, there's a dime-novel series in which the premise is Longinus was cursed to not die as well, and it follows him throughout history...)

<Random_Nerd> (Huh. Haven't read them.)

<Random_Nerd> Oh, also, this version of Cain hasn't happened to be in the same place as many of the /interesting/ bits of history.

<Random_Nerd> Which, really, is unsurprising. Hardly anywhere on the Earth is interesting at any given moment.

<Knockwood> Still, All Roads Lead to Rome.

<Knockwood> Oh yeah

<Verithe> I've got a few more things to work on before bed, so I'm going to head off.

<Knockwood> G'night Etheric

<BethE> Night, guys! *HUGS*

<Knockwood> G'night Beth

<Angelo> nn Beth

<Knockwood> Well, see you next week for Glass.

<Random_Nerd> Yep.

<Random_Nerd> Try to be up on the scene rules and quest rules, if possible.

<Random_Nerd> Although we should go over them when we start either way, to make sure we're on the same page.

<Random_Nerd> I must go sleep.

<Random_Nerd> See you guys next session.

<Knockwood> G'night

<Random_Nerd> Or... just Knock, I guess, due to the Curse of Natalia.

<Angelo> I' waking up the kids

  • Random_Nerd vanishes.
