The Iron Heads

The Iron Heads is a gang based out of the Flat Iron District in Pittsburgh, PA. They are located on the corner of Wheeler and Wallabash at 105.

You will be greeted by Termite, the "human door-bell." But, don't expect to get in unless you're a member.

The Iron Heads gang is considered by many to be the most popular gang. In fact, it is the most pledged gang in the city of Pittsburgh. They are also considered to be the most powerful gang, to the point - as rumor would have it - of influencing local and state politicians.

The Iron Heads gang was formed in 1898 by two steel men - John P. Hybergalle and Andrew Saltani. The Iron Heads was initially formed as a Steel worker's labor union but throughout its fomative years morphed into a gang with heavy influence through violence. This has not changed.

There is a Board of Directors that runs the Iron Heads. And, the head man goes by the nickname of Mug-z. He is one of the most influential underground people in the city of Pittsburgh and has numerous politicians and police in his pocket. Or, so that is the word on the street.

The calling card of the Iron Heads - all gangs have one - is the cutting of the heel of their victims after a "throw-down." These heels are hung on the walls of the infamous Fisticuffs Room located at the Head Quarters. Those Pledges that are physically capable of lasting to the Initiation Eve will devour some of these fried heels as the main course to the Initiation dinner.

The initiation of the pledges is famous throughout the Pittsburgh streets. The pledges are put through a series of tests, by the Board of Directors, based on mental and physical will as well as trust of your future fellow Iron heads. What these pledges are put through is somewhat unknown but the stories that are told speak of the "Leap for Life" (falling backward off the Iron Head HQ's building and trusting that you will be caught by the Board of Directors) and the "Running of the Bull's Balls" which, as a male, is too difficult to even describe.

The Iron Heads gang is one of the most violent and substantial gangs in the United States and is continuously listed in the Top 10 among Most Influential Gangs Through Violence each year.
