The Rebirth/Deran Calthan

Some would call Deran fortunate. His family clearly blessed by the dragons--after all, his grandfather was a formidable captain in his days in the Legions--and his own brother had recently taken the Second Breath, and begun his rise to fame and fortune as well. While this had put his family just short of attaining Patrician status--Deran himself doesn't quite believe himself as fortunate as some would.

He was never exceptional in many respects. While nimble, clever, and silver-tongued, he possessed only middling abilities in most respects--his own belief that the best way of gaining the attention of the Dragons was to be at least proficient in as many disciplines as possible... That he had instead, attracted the attention of the Sun Itself was something that provides no end of confusion, as he has never really believed himself to be world-shakingly able.

Now on the run with the other new Solars, Deran hasn't had much time to philosophise on his new state of being--but with arrow, staff, and fist, he'll do what he can to protect the well being of everyone.

The Original Daiklave of Conquest was initially forged by Autochthon during the Primordial War for the very first Incarnation of Deran's Exaltation, and powerful magics were woven into it, to ensure that it always comes into his possession once a new incarnation is born. Naturally, he doesn't have it--yet, but the legendary blade is out there--and circumstances already conspire to ensure that it once again returns to it's master.
