Description	Susanna is a 13-year-old tomboy, who comes from a family of poor charcoal-burners. She earned the nickname "Smutty" from her off-color comments, as well as the dark smudges that never completely leave her face.

Background	Susanna is a 13-year-old tomboy, who comes from a family of poor charcoal-burners. She earned the nickname "Smutty" from her off-color comments, as well as the dark smudges that never completely leave her face. Her family hopes that the Outing will help her mature. Smutty wants to get away from this small town and make it in a big city, like Altdorf or Nuln. Susanna's parents, Milo and Paula, tried to make a go of it as farmers, but the crops aren't as robust as they should be. The twisted trees make decent charcoal, however, so they have been able to support their family. Susanna is the youngest of five, and the only girl, so she tends to get away with things that her older brothers don't. While a decent cook, she has little interest in keeping house This disappoints her mother, who despairs of her finding a decent husband. Her father, on the other hand, delights in treating her like "one of the boys".
